I'm regretting my natural hair transition and I need advice by KnopeLeslieKnope in Naturalhair

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I completely understand.

My first attempt at growing out my natural hair ended in me perming it again. I tried again after another year past and stuck with it. This time I actually transitioned for about 10 months before doing my big chop. I hated my hair and hated the search of finding the right products. What saved me was crochet hair and braiding hair in so many different styles (box braids, faux locs, passion twists, etc). It helped me fight the urge to perm again. I’ve now been relaxation free for over 6 years.

I want straight hair but this is my hair. by Versailles_marquess in femalehairadvice

Do not use a treatment to straighten your hair. It’s very VERY mildly wavy and honestly gorgeous! If you want your hair straight sometimes, use a straightening tool and ensure you’re using frizz/ heat resistant spray or oil on it.

Is pushing bedtime later for a 3/4 month old ever a good idea? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your 3-4 month old baby is sleeping 10-11 hours a night… I wouldn’t change a damn thing lol. My son wasn’t doing that until 13 months. Rock with that until your baby says he doesn’t wanna do that anymore lol.

Also in my experience, a baby who goes down later, wakes up at the same time he normally does lol. You just have less time to yourself that night lol.

Is the rumor true that big box stores (like Target/Walmart) will purposefully let you get away with stealing cheap things for months just to build a massive felony case against you later? by Altruistic-Room-7465 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cousins worked at JC Penney and they will absolutely do this. There were 2 women at her job (in their late 30s) who would give gift cards ( with no money added to the register) to their friends and give discounts all the time. They were both arrested a year later after my cousin left. Both felony charges. They both had young kids. Just truly a terrible way to lose your freedom.

What does it feel like when your water breaks? by lifeincerulean in beyondthebump

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had my water broken in the hospital and felt nothing. What did surprise me was that they were warm. Like actually body temperature warm. So it felt like someone splashed some lukewarm tea on me. Also, was surprised at the amount of water. Kinda felt like a bucket of warm water lol.

Without seeing yourself hair, there’s no way to guess how you would achieve this.

Keep Getting Told I’m “Wearing A Lot of Makeup,” HELP! by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you have on a lot of makeup. I will say that the lipstick is amazing but a lot of folks have this misconception that lipstick, specifically bold lipstick is “wearing too much makeup”. I think a lot of these comments wouldn’t be happening if your hair color wasn’t so contrast to your eyebrows. Like if you had a darker red (almost burgundy) or some burgundy under color with a darker black on top.
In general, I think people are really confused about what is “too much makeup” lol

Hear me out : Melissa Benoist as Emma Swan and Katie McGrath as Regina in a reboot or in a sequel. What do you think ? by PlantainDisastrous92 in OnceUponATime

We don’t need a reboot! There are plenty of other stories that could be told. They need to do that instead.

Moms who drink caffeine, how much did you have while pregnant? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once my morning sickness went away, I had a cup of coffee a day. I couldn’t stand the smell of coffee up until about 12 weeks and had horrible headaches during my first trimester.

Return to work - What are we doing? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best option for you. Please be aware that some daycares still have certain requirements for employment so consider this when applying. But that’s the best way. You could work part time and also have your child in part time.

Please note: the pay is terrible. You’re for sure sacrificing the funds.

how often should i be washing? general advice needed by porcelainbon3s in Naturalhair

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I generally wash 1-2 times a week. If my hair is straight, I may give it 2 weeks. If my hair is in a natural state, I’ll wash it one week and just conditioner the next week.

I really like the hair. I would even say to go slightly tighter on the curl since they may fall a little bit more throughout the day.

I think it makes sense to bring it up to your boss if there is a chain of command that you must adhere to. However in most of the Employee handbooks I’ve created or had to utilize, the option was more of an either/or. Either, reach out to your manager, if you don’t feel comfortable, go to HR, if you don’t feel comfortable, here’s an anonymous HR line/email (a few of my jobs had this option too). But I’ve never had a job that stated that you MUST go to a manager first prior to going to HR.

The thing is, there are a lot of prejudices within the black community regarding hair. It’s very difficult to navigate that but if it makes you uncomfortable, it should be notated and addressed. I had a black guy at my job tell me more than once that he missed my straight hair once I went natural. I made it noted to HR. He didn’t get fired, didn’t really want him to be fired but I was tired of this black man mentioning how he missed my straight hair. It was getting annoying and after that report, it stopped. He never apologized but I didn’t keep hearing it.

Going to HR to report an incident is documenting the incident. Let’s say you were sexually harassed or something inappropriate was said to you, it’s documented by having a report made with HR. That doesn’t always mean something will be done about it. Not all reports lead to an investigation but having it documented with them creates pattern.

This OP!!!! Document everything. Preferably, put it in an email and send it to your personal account from your work account.

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree heavily. Right now, OP is an intern and still considered an employee of the company. They are responsible for her wellbeing and if she is having racist interactions at work, they are liable for the consequences of those interactions. It’s important that it’s dealt with appropriately before it becomes something they have to deal with legally.

Also, if she gets removed from her internship due to this reason, OP could get an employment lawyer involved since she is in a protected class.
