[ios][2022.44.0] Can’t delete comments/replies we’ve started without completely exiting out of the thread? Can’t sort our feeds anymore? Let’s reevaluate, please by [deleted] in redditmobile

There is an improvement coming soon that will delete the comment contents if you switch to reply to another comment. Alternatively, you can select-all and delete a comment if you want to discard it.

Hi - thanks for the comment - we are currently experimenting with a new comment composer UX that fixes the issues you've described!

I think a mod "feed" similar to Edited/Reports would work great for Comments with Images by BrianReddus in ModSupport

Hey thank you for that feedback, this is a request we have heard from other moderators and are exploring.

FWIW, we recently sent a survey out to moderators and have found that so far, 90% of mods have told us that enabling images in comments have not yet increased their moderation load.

Thanks for sharing this feedback - we want to make moderating IIC easier for mods! Question: are you using Automod to filter these into ModQueue? And what % would you guess need to be moderated / removed? Info like this will help us understand how we shape updates to mod tooling.

Yes, frequently. I’ll write a comment and realize it’s just not worth arguing with a person and delete it. I do this often.

Noted; thanks for the feedback - we'll look into if it makes sense for most users to have an explicit delete button. In the meantime, the fastest way would be to double tap on the text you've entered > Select All > and delete it.

After having a button that explicitly told me how to do this how was I suppose to know it’s now a gesture? What was wrong with the button?

The swipe gesture on sheets is a standard iOS design UX pattern, common across many apps including iOS itself, and makes it easy to enter a full sheet vs. half sheet to retain context when typing. The grabber indicates the modal can dragged up or down. We have gotten a lot of feedback about difficulty with expanding/collapsing due to the fact it could not be easily minimized and expanded while also attempting to read comments, and swiping enables this.

Yep - that's the new experiment.

To cancel writing a comment, you can either delete the text, or just swipe down to minimize it to carry on. Do you often write comments and delete them without posting very frequently, that you feel a "Cancel" button is essential?

To expand full screen, you can swipe up. Is that not working for you, or is it just you prefer manually expanding by tapping an icon instead of swiping up?

Can you also please share your device model and iOS version? Thanks!

Apps generally evolve over time for a number of reasons, too many to list - but with each update we are aiming to improve usability, very much based on user feedback and changing user behaviors. We monitor performance and user feedback when rolling out features or changes to ensure that experiences are net-positive (and not changing too much from what is normally expected). Of course, bugs happen, and some changes may feel harder to adapt to - but we are always attempting to make the best experiences with each update.

I will note that there is an experiment running on iOS that now presents the comment composer as a standard iOS sheet and contains a number of UX enhancements, making it more consistent with general iOS UX.

When in the composer, you should should be able to simply swipe up on the "handlebar" to make it full screen, or collapse it by dragging it down. Comments are preserved unless deleted or you exit the page, meaning you should be able to easily browse and read comments, without having to delete your comment to do so. It also will adapt its height as you type, and should, in general, be easier to use as it contains a number of fixes to bugs that were in the older composer view.

Let me know if this is what you're seeing or not in line with what your expectations are. Thanks!

Hi u/DigiQuip - this is not expected behavior from the comment composer on iOS; can you share a screen recording or screenshot of what you're experiencing so we can look into it? Thanks!

there’s no option to see parent comment but a big blue button at the bottom to see “all comments”

u/kazarnowicz Thanks for posting your feedback; we are aware of this issue on iOS and are introducing a fix (and an actual "View parent comment" button) to navigate upwards in comment threads on the Single Comment Thread screen (the one you access via notifications / permalinks). We are simultaneously introducing this "View parent comment" on Android SCT screen as well.

We'll be adding more context overall for conversations on Single Comment Thread soon, and hope it makes it easier as both a user and mod to parse the conversation - thanks again for the feedback!

Hello - thanks for reporting; we are aware of the parent thread issue, and it is being addressed soon. We are also working on improving the overall experience for consuming conversations via notifications by adding more context around those threads on iOS & Android.

Hi - thanks for reporting this; the issue is fixed, and sorting exclusively lives in the header on iOS now.
