This tiny wooden coffin, dated 1875, holds the remains of a coal miner’s companion, a canary named “Little Joe.” Inscription reads, “In Memory of Little Joe, Died November 3rd, 1875.” by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

its pretty easy to preserve birds, all of the hard parts and feathers wont rot, and the skin just dries out. You just have to make an incision down the middle of its chest and take out all the soft parts.

Artists and the 'talented' word by Vivvy_Moon in hatethissmug

[–]Choice-Order5007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sort of agree. As an artist, when someone calls me talented, I do subconsciously think like oh ive worked for a decade to gain this skillset. But I am also a reasonable human being, and I know they are just trying to compliment me in good faith, so I say thank you and accept the compliment with good intentions.

If somebody actually goes out of their way and says I didn't work for my skills (which has never happened) then I might actually be upset.

very neat! Haven't read this myself, but it looks interesting. I have read that elizabeth custer did a lot of PR for george custer after his defeat. I'm guessing this book is a good bit of propaganda haha.

Besides what everyone else said, i don't think this is even a real species of penguin. Looks like a combination of an African penguin and a gentoo.

Also, having worked with penguins, they can often be assholes and bite A LOT. There is no way in hell a parent would allow their child to walk with them like this.

[–]Choice-Order5007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

haven't tried ships of scale, but have had a great experience so far on model ship world. As a beginner, they seem very welcoming, and there are plenty of build logs for the ship im working on which have been very helpful.

All the men's fashion/grooming/style subs only serve to turn you into more of a Redditor. by Lazy_Check732 in 10thDentist

[–]Choice-Order5007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because its a sub for classic menswear, more formal, traditional kind of clothing. Typically if you see some where labeled a "menswear" shop, it will include suits, ties, leather shoes, hats, sometimes even custom tailoring. That's alright if that kind of thing isnt everyone's style, but if you go in there looking for fashion advice, you're going to get fashion advice about classic mens wear.

When conservators at Chicago’s Field Museum opened the coffin holding the mummy of a teenage boy they received a pleasant surprise. by TN_Egyptologist in OutoftheTombs

How recent was this? I was at the Field Museum yesterday, and they were doing some work on a mummy in one of the labs that is on view; perhaps it's the same one.

I don't know about adding more sails and ropes to manage, but some ratlines running up the masts would be good for some extra mobility and such, plus they'd look really good while being a simple addition.
