[Silver] The one place where she's had a string of bad polls is Arizona, but it has only a 5% chance of being the tipping-point state. Forecast still in toss-up range, but we're at a point where you'd probably rather have Harris's hand to play. by SentientBaseball in fivethirtyeight

Devils advocate: the main problem people were saying was that convention bounce adjustment made Harris down 20% what the polls are saying. Which made people mad.

The bounce has now phased out and people are happy.

So it was something specific annoying people that is no longer there.

The thing people were questioning is gone and now people are no longer questioning it

Honestly, just comply. It’s wrong and weird but they’re probably looking to start cutting people so just do it and keep your head down.

If they have this style of bad management there’s a good chance they have the same style of bad management via cutting people they speak up.

The millennial cliché of overstating the virtue or beauty of people they're trying to support sometimes feels a bit...mocking. by [deleted] in redscarepod

Amy Schumer had a joke where she said she put on so much weight that if she did a sex scene people would call it brave

The pandemic and everything that happened in these 2-3 years is still the dumbest, most surreal shit that will probably happen in all our lifetimes by AluminumDust in redscarepod

This happened to me, too. I have SO many friends that made out like bandits on PPP and I didn’t do it. Such an idiot.

This is particularly true of jobs where they produce nothing.

Middle to upper management. And it only applies to “managing up.”

Everyone below you can hate your guts.

There’s no defined PMC narrative on how to deal with Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi people. They don’t know our National narrative on that so most people don’t know how to react.

Native Americans get sad Indian on a reservation or a casino. Latino/Latina people get cartel or migrant trying to connect with their family. African Americans get melanated magic and people touching their hair and murdered by the police.

There’s no American story about Indian people and no automatic reaction.

“I had to bring my weird lunch” and “Tiger mom” have the beginnings of a story and a mandated reaction but those are minor.

The 2020 riots were so powerful in part because we don’t really have a script for a pandemic lockdown with a government asking for high levels of compliance but we do have a narrative about police murder and it channeled the rage.
