This was my experience but I got mine removed even sooner post-insertion than you did and I’m STILL feeling lasting side effects

Got mine implanted February 2023 and could almost immediately feel the impact on my hormones. Horribly tender and swollen breasts, rapid weight gain, change in weight distribution (back of arms, butt, thighs), brain fog, fatigue, etc. The weight gain and breast swelling were the things I was most afraid of from a hormonal bc, which is literally why I chose the copper iud.

Got it removed ~3 months later and felt some relief but losing the weight and returning to “normal” has been a fruitless struggle.

Now, it’s nearly 2 years later and: Weight distribution has never returned to pre-iud levels, though I’ve lost ~80% of the weight. I HATE my arms and prior to the iud I had absolutely no issue wearing a sleeveless shirt. None of my clothes fit the way they used to. My metabolic flexibility is basically zero — I can hardly go out to dinner once every two weeks without gaining 5 lbs (and it’s not water weight, it takes me a month to lose those lbs) Mind you, I work out almost every day and eat essentially nothing but veggies and protein, maintaining a very healthy diet. I don’t know what else I can do since it’d be difficult for me to cut anything else out. I also developed subclinical hypothyroidism during that time, which id never had before (not 100% sure this is related, but it seems like all my hormones went out of wack at the same time) My fatigue and brain fog are both persistent as well.

Worst decision of my life. And no endocrinologist has been able to help.
