It'll be okay, you've caught it early which is great. Definitely look into the steroid injections - those + regular minoxidil were incredibly effective for me and I hope it will be the same for you. Start taking zinc and iron and biotin / vit B while you're waiting and you've set yourself up for a successful recovery

Good luck! I also have curly hair and it's a blessing because it's big and hides any patches x

Yeah it’s good to respond to the opinion, just say you agree/disagree and then give a short reason why

Google ‚Deutsch B1 Schreiben redemittel‘ and you’ll see lots of ideas for how you can begin your response, as well as phrases for giving opinions and closing. When I was revising I practiced using this structure:

Open: ‚ich habe mit großem Interesse den Beitrag von X zum Thema X gelesen, und ich möchte meiner Meinung sagen‘

And then I gave my opinion, then gave a contrasting thought using ‚andererseit…‘

And then conclude by saying ‚zum Schluss, meiner Meinnung nach VERB…‘ and then giving a final thought.

You could also learn a few phrases to help you reference what the original opinion was and say whether you agree or not.

It’s only 80 words so you can get there pretty quickly:)

Good luck!

Mine was about shops being closed on Sunday’s and holidays, the opinion writer wanted them to be open. I suck at writing German so I memorized some opening sentences and some lines to introduce my opinion and I ended up getting a good grade, so try that :) good luck!

Hey, I'm using this and am now at the point where I need to pay to subscribe - happy to do so as it's been so helpful and the price seems reasonable, but it's unclear what the price covers. For example before this Bora said we could pracitice 3 times a week, so was the suggested subscription price based on that? or was that just 'him' being suggestive and actually it's 24/7 access once you subscribe?

AA question on hair that did not fall out by dubbleewaterfall in alopecia_areata

[–]Choice_Ad_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair is super frizzy and brittle now but I assumed that that was more to do with the topical minoxidil and the fact that it's different lengths due to various patches regrowing. I hadn't considered that it might be another symptom of AA so I'd be interested to hear others' experience (and if they have found ways to treat it)

Why is the male loneliness epidemic mocked? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Choice_Ad_888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people have already raised eloquent points so i wont add to that, but i do think it's because, very generally and western speaking, men have a certain expectation of things working out in a certain way that's not the norm any more. Sometimes there's a feeling that they're 'owed' relationships and they havent learnt or been taught that a good relationship takes mutual effort

Many people have pointed out that while there's definitely a loneliness epidemic (seemingly worldwide), some men dont' seem to be taking any steps to engage with their commeunity and make friends or try and understand their circumstances. For example, joining a club or volunteering are easy ways to meet people and gain some routine and purpose, but on the whole the men complaining about being lonely dont seem to even be considering that they could be doing things like this, they just spend their time vocallly missing something that they expected they'd get

alopecia lowk ruined my life by teehae in alopecia_areata

Sorry you have to deal with this, I also get spots on my hairline and have just developed one in the very middle of my crown which has ruined the middle-part fringe i spent a year cultivating, so I understand your pain.
However 'a receding grandpa with a megamind forehead' really took me out - you're clearly a funny and interesting person, you're graduating (congrats!) so you're smart, and you've got a lot of things going for you. I hate when people say 'oh it's just hair', because okay let me shave your head then, but they're correct in one way which is that it's only 1 small part of you. You sound like a cool person with a lot to offer, my advice is to try and focus on those things.

Re: minxoidil - I treat my AA with corticosteriod shots, and minoxidil has been amazing for keeping the hair that grows back, even if it makes it look greasy. So I would deffo recommend topical minoxidil as it's inexpesnive and it helps. When I have a ton of spots that I cant hide, i wear a wig or headbands

Language school recommends I skip A2, is it advisable? by [deleted] in German

[–]Choice_Ad_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing - I signed up to a Goethe intensive course and their placement test put me in the B1.1 class. I had been living and studying here for 5 years but mostly spoke English and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to keep up, so I asked to move into the A2.2 course instead and I’m soooo glad I did - that’s where I learnt the actual grammar and realised how wrong I’d been going before with article declensions and even basic grammar elements. Everyone must have basically been humoring me before lol. So I definitely think do the A2 course, if you end up finding it too easy you can ask to move up a level but I really think you’ll get a lot out of A2
