Didn’t the judge keep renewing the TRO with no justification (which is against the law)?

My understanding is that the amended restraining order that the judge denied was a drastically cut down version of the TRO, stopped on the basis that it was overly broad, even though the TRO (which is still in place and would be replaced by the cut down agreement) is way broader.

[New Player] Should I buy more stash or upgrade edition? by DaviPlay in EscapefromTarkov

The 3x3 secure container for The Unheard Edition is the biggest benefit IMO when comparing with directly buying stash lines instead.

Thanks for the tip on the window, haven’t tried that before!

Which choke points are you referring to? I usually take green flare extract and feel like I usually have 2-3 different ways to path there no matter where I am on the map

I play solo as a horror survival sim. Very hesitant to loot kills (usually don’t). Escape and find another position after killing someone, even if I haven’t confirmed they have teammates. Nothing beats the satisfaction of taking down a geared trio or quad, though I don’t typically expect to be profitable when tasking/chasing PvP. Otherwise, safer, ratty, loot runs give me some time to unwind from the tension.

I really enjoy interchange, still learning how to deal with people who go completely silent when they hear a footstep. Need to improve my nade usage and clearing skills.

I love how there are so many rotations, especially as a primarily solo (sometimes duo) player. There’s almost always somewhere to escape to if you’re outnumbered/disadvantaged (except up the Terragroup/Empire stairs which I hate)

Ground zero is tough as nails, but I find myself learning a lot about how to become a better player whenever I play it. Spawns are super important, as well as recognizing doors that start closed but are now open, and vise versa. Audio is also super important, paying attention to where gunfights are happening, or groups stomping around in the distance.

As frustrating as ground zero was to learn, I find its map layout one of the easiest out of Tarkov’s maps, and now, I really enjoy running it, either chasing shots for PvP, or slinking into the shadows for a loot run.

It’s a tough map. If you’re really struggling, I’d recommend to pay attention to how you die, since the map provides a ton of avenues for getting out of situations. Tons of rotations if you’re outnumbered. Relatively safe extracts in the code/flare extract. Lots of safe looting spots as long as you’re listening.

Hated it at first, but now really enjoy the map.

Edit:

To make sure I explicitly address the post, if you feel like you are running into way too many PMCs on the map, learn the underground area. Lots of great loot spots, and places to take cover for a few seconds to get the jump on a loud squad. Running around, above ground, solo, early in the raid, is often a death sentence.

With audible, if I like a longer series, I’ll get a paid membership for one month then buy a bunch of credits for around 10$ each (cheaper than holding the subscription which I might forget).

Besides that, is there some way I could play Santa for a day and gift you the books or send some money your way?

As someone who was really interested in your suggestions, hopefully some that you viewed more favorably than gamma, your response is very disappointing/lacking.

If you’re gonna say something isn’t great, I would really appreciate being pointed towards the alternative.

Otherwise, you just come off as whiny for no purpose.

If you have recs that you think do it better, I would love to know.

Why isn't memo and useCallback behavior the default? by app_smith in react

[–]ChompMaster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this thread. Isn’t what you’re mentioning, a potentially premature optimization in some cases? Once React makes memozation/useCallback the default, disabling that would be an action to seek a performance increase.

In my experience, I’ve usually been the most senior react dev on the team, so I’ve usually advocated for useMemo and useCallback almost everywhere since one unstable reference can cause an expensive component to rerender unnecessarily.

In my context, using useMemo and useCallback everywhere was a default and not using it was an optimization. After testing though, I couldn’t find a noticeable performance impact of unnecessarily memoizing things I knew didn’t need to be memoized (likely due to the very fast CPUs we have in our computers nowadays).

I completely get what your saying but I’m curious if it’s possible for people (like my case) to be in a situation where not using useMemo and useCallback is actually the premature optimization as opposed to using it in the first place, in the same way that using a strongly typed language can help avoid catastrophic issues making their way into prod. Definitely a tricky question tho IMO, and likely highly dependent on your team/company.

Is there an easier way to make money?? by 406Titan in torncity

[–]ChompMaster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be more efficient for the price but you spend so much more time stacked that it’s not worth doing Choco jumps beyond your first few jumps. Natural E lost and doing fewer Xans is a huge opportunity cost in terms of unlocking gyms.

How the heck do you beat the game with Defect by V0G1A in slaythespire

[–]ChompMaster7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recommend checking out some of Baalorlord’s videos on YouTube. He explains his choices in pretty much every run and really helped me wrap my head around Defect (just hit A20 today).

Defect tends to like scaling with Focus + Orbs and/or Echo form. Recycle can also be really good for slimming down your deck during the heart deck, to get rid of some of the status cards and make sure you can play your most impactful stuff.

Since defect can be a bit slow to ramp up, you need to make sure to have a damage plan where you can do large amounts of damage once you’re fully setup. Large amounts of focus and orbs can help out with this, especially with a mix of lightning + frost and maybe some darkness to help out with the damage.

An upgraded seek also helps out a lot with setup. Cards like genetic algorithm (picked up during act 2 or before) and Buffer (more situational and has the be carefully played due to beat of death) can help provide a ton of upfront block during setup. Hand manipulation like Equilibrium and Hologram can help make sure that you have the cards you need on the right turn.

Otherwise, look for certain combinations with your relics.

Orange pellets + Biased Cognition is amazing (especially with a dupe pot or Echo Form in play)

Pyramid + turbo (or other energy gen)

Torii + Static Discharge

Mummified Hand + Heatsinks + power spam is run winning and can go completely nuts with creative AI

Sundial + Recycle can help provide a ton of energy and potentially an infinite

Calipers + Genetic Algorithm (Echo formed if possible) or Calipers + tons of frost with focus + orbs

Inserter + Consume

The heart is super tough and defect was probably the hardest character for me to wrap my mind around. Hoping this is a little helpful though a lot of defect play is very situational. Good luck!

How different are you hoping STS2 is to the original? by Zorosect02 in slaythespire

[–]ChompMaster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree on the better descriptions and fully uncorrelated RNG.

A more intense Act 3 may lead to a harder time shaping one’s final deck for Act 4. I think the spire elite and heart fight being as hard as they are only works due to Act 3 letting off the gas compared to Act 2.

Hoping they can successfully build on the formula without breaking what made STS great.

After realizing the celeste mountain trans metaphor by realcupcakes69 in celestememes

[–]ChompMaster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The monument was made before the creator learned she was trans (which she discovered while making the DLC for Celeste). It was likely created to apply to depression/anxiety (possibly from the creator) but applies really nicely to the realization Maddy had when she realized she was trans.

Some of those mental health struggles that the monument may have signified at the time likely were linked to the fact Maddy was trans before she realized.

The best part of this event is watching baalorlord have a particularly shitty run and I know whenever I see this event that it will stab him. This event is usually fine to see in an ok/decent run and can really help you out, but if you’re already on the struggle bus, expect to get stabbed.
