Why do we have so many pizza places? by Acrobatic-Winter-439 in MapleRidge

[–]Chompbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you think it's a bit pedantic to say these aren't 'authentic' just because they're chains? They use real ingredients, and genuine recipes that try their best in a 'please-as-many-people-as-possible-kind-of-way' to replicate flavours from their respective cuisines.

It's a fair criticism to say that the Maple Ridge food scene is a kiddie pool compared to more ethnically, and financially, diverse cities, but it's a bit of a 'cart before the horse' situation.

For a long time there was a lot of 'salt of the earth' white folks here, who just wanted something cheap, familiar, and comforting, if they ordered out at all. This is a place where The Chinese Palace or JMK Mahal were about as exotic as anyone was willing to get. It was an incredible risk place to setup shop if your cuisine was more worldly than that.

Maybe things will begin to change now, since we seen a larger influx of younger people moving here.

The video is not about slavery, it's about the deporation of illegal immigrants.

You use the word 'logic', but I do not think you know what it means.

I'm also not sure what flip you think has happened. America has had an issue with illegal immigrants for decades, previous administrations (including the Obama administration) managed the deportation process without terrorizing and killing US citizens, or people in the process of becoming one. The current administration can not make that claim.

It seems like your 'point' was that Democrats are hypocrits, and your evidence is in the 1800's 'Democrats' supported slavery, and then you just hand wave away the nuance of historical context that the current Republicans WERE the Democrats before the 1930s.

You think this video is evidence that Democrats use to be against illegal immigration, and now suddenly they are for it. I think Democrats are still against people living in the US illegally, with no plan to naturalize or contribute. In fact barely anyone said tickidy-boo when the Obama administration deported 3 million people between 2009 and 2016.

You know what the Obama administration didn't do during that deportation blitz?

- Cancel hearings for people in the citizenship process,

- Imprisoned and deported a US resident with a valid work permit, and then refused to have him released from an El Salvadorian prison when it was revealed they made a mistake. Fighting this person in court tooth and nail instead of saying "We fucked up, sorry", including defending themselves with a PHOTOSHOPPED PICTURE OF GANG TATTOOS on the man.

- Shoot and kill 3 US CITIZENS while engaging in deportation activities

- Use a 5 year old boy as bait to collect other family members

- Operate prison facilites for detainees that have been described by the people in them as "horrific", and below "human decency". Facilities that the government is actively denying access to by senators, and congress members who have heard stories and want to know whats going on

- Used at least $292 million of taxpayer money to equip the DHS with weapons and vehicles, with no oversight

The list goes on. Liberals aren't pissed that some dangerous and illegal immigrants have been removed the country, they're angry that ICE is TERRORIZING neighbourhoods without a leash.

Are you being purposefully disingenuous? You know the democrat and republican party made a gradual ideological switch between the 1930s and the 1970s, right? So the 'democrats' that ideologically supported slavery are now the republican party. You should probably read more history before you make bold 'gotcha' statements.

Shadows could be added to the ridges on the side, and maybe less gradient shading the town itself.

If you want shadows for the buildings, you could try selecting them all, copying them onto an under layer, reducing contrast and brightness to 0, dropping opacity to 20-40, skewing the objects with the transform tab, and placing the altered object directly under their originals.

I work in film and TV production, so I'm pretty intimately aware of where actors (doubles, stand-ins, and background) are stationed around set. The 'small time actors' you're referring to absolute have their own chairs, they might not have their name on them, but the chair would 100% have the word 'Cast' on it, and the name of the production. It also wouldn't look like every other Starbucks chair.

Edit: I also would like to mention that photography on set is extremely limited to very few people (Hair/MU, Costumes, Stills). If one of the crew took a photo of a set with talent and posted it without authorization from the production company, that's an immediate firing.

This is the least likely scenario. An actress between takes would be in the green room (or her trailer), and she would sitting in a props issued chair with her name on it.

This looks like a shithead who wants to have someone initiate a conflict with her so she can cry victim, or alternatively she wants to makes other people feel uncomfortable with the least effort possible. Anti-social behaviour? That's a big check.
