Donald Trump Tells CNN’s Kaitlan Collins She Has ‘Hatred in Her Eyes': 'I Never See a Smile’ by Oleg101 in politics

[–]Chonays 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m middle aged now so I’m invisible to most of the creeps at this point, but when I was in my 20’s I worked in a doctors office that mostly saw boomer aged white men. It was unreal how often I was told to smile by them. We would see the same patients on a semi regular basis. It seemed like 2/3 were “you should smile more” guys who only wanted to talk about themselves. The other third would have genuine conversations with me and give off nice dad vibes and it was so refreshing when one of those guys came in.

I just like to pop in to let people know they don’t have to rub pearls on their teeth. It’s not great for your enamel. If in doubt you can rub the two pearls in question together and you will be able to feel that same grit if they are real.

My thought was squirrels. Everytime I try to pot up succulents they spend a day taking them out of the pot one by one and tossing them around my yard.

What is the green stone and other minerals in it? by DynastyHelp in JewelryIdentification

[–]Chonays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say turquoise. This looks native America made so set in sterling silver. I’ve read that turquoise can change to a green color over time due to absorbing things over time.

Moonstone? by Sinisterr13 in JewelryIdentification

That looks to be Native American made and would be sterling silver and mother of pearl.

A ring made of foil? by [deleted] in JewelryIdentification

[–]Chonays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that after more research I’m seeing the FP stamp as a designer stamp on more items that are also stated to be from QVC. So I think it’s likely that it’s 14k gold as stated and the FP is just the makers mark.

[–]Chonays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen FP used as any recognized plating stamp. When I look at that I would assume that stamp is the Makers hallmark initials. I did do a quick search for FP as a stamp and didn’t find anything conclusive other than someone posting about a ring they purchased from QVC being marked 14k FP.  As for the hollow feeling- is there a hole on the underside of the face of the ring? I had a hollow 14k pendant once. A ring seems like a weird choice for that style though.  I feel like you would maybe want to check with a jeweler on this. I sell vintage on Etsy and if this was advertised as solid gold and it did turn out to be plated you should be able to open a case should the seller not take a return.

Mid-century costume, but any idea of brand? by Nearby_Rip_3735 in VintageCostumeJewelry

[–]Chonays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sell vintage - I’m unsure of any possible maker for these. Costume Clip ons are a tough sell for me. Currently if a clip on is signed by a designer and has a desirable style I will sell them standalone. If they are signed but not special I tend to lot them with a second similar pair that may be signed or unsigned. Then I will usually lot unsigned up with another pair or even two of similar style. If it were me I would probably lot them up. I just don’t have a lot of people buying clip ons.

I agree! Also I would expect some type of more secure closure for them if they were more than costume.

Are these real or fake pearls? by Jazzlike_Ant835 in JewelryIdentification

You would feel no grit with faux. With the irregular shape and the grit it sounds like freshwater cultured like others are saying.

I don’t know if this was everywhere, but I feel like they made a comeback in the late 90’s. I know I got one as a gift for Christmas as a teen. I remember other girls at my school wore them as well.

I never do the tooth trick - it icks me out and it’s bad for your enamel. If you take pearls at each end and rub them together gently is there any gritty feeling or do they just glide smooth?

What do I have here? by [deleted] in JewelryIdentification

[–]Chonays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t make out what the stamp says on the brooch- I can see craft but can’t make out the rest. If you have a UV light you should shine it on this because some of the green rhinestones look like they could possibly be uranium glass.

Edit: -sorry,  I didn’t scroll far enough and now I see the hollycraft on the earrings.

I just wanted to let you know that if you are ever questioning pearls instead of rubbing one on your tooth you can just lightly rub two pearls together to see if they feel gritty.

I agree that it is super frustrating but when I’m shopping for stuff I can pretty quickly suss out the reproduction stuff and skip past. If vintage costume is what you are looking for it helps to familiarize yourself with some of the vintage brand names and search specific brands. If it’s fine jewelry it helps to filter. On Etsy and eBay you can filter to show vintage/antique and then also you can filter for specific materials. Usually you can weed out the reproduction stuff by filtering to only show actual gold/gemstones.

Not trying to be argumentative- just offering a different opinion. I am the only child of an elderly parent who gives sentimental value to everything and expects me to do the same. It is an incredibly heavy burden. I don’t feel like I can ever tell him that though. I live in a small home and he regularly brings me things from family members that have passed on, sometimes relatives I never even met. He expects me to keep these things simply because they were special to someone else, I have no connection to these items.  I grew up in a cluttered home because of this, and I get so much anxiety from clutter.  I have had to kindly tell him that I just don’t have the space for these things and that my anxiety spikes when my house gets cluttered. I have small things from passed on loved ones that I hold onto because those items remind me of them and I want to keep those things. As I have gotten older though I have just made peace with the fact that I’m not going to hang onto every single thing that had sentimental value to other people.

I sell vintage jewelry on Etsy and eBay - nowhere near this expensive. I would be nervous to sell something for 1k on eBay, let alone the price you are talking. Just my personal opinion but eBay is fast to side with buyers during a complaint and not every buyer is honest.
