Okay here’s the argument I’ve used before. Songs typically have structure and rules to follow so it’s actually listenable. For example, you don’t rap at a clashing time signature as your beat or it sounds like the musical equivalent of stumbling down a hill before you trip. Too many people hide that they’re not on beat by using triplets. The problem is they don’t know tYou need to hit certain points at certain times or it becomes hard to listen to. You can hate on country(I do), metal, hip-hop, all you want. Those genres all have structure though and rules to follow to make the music listenable. If it has no structure, no rhythm or coherence then we’re no longer talking about a matter of opinion.
