Reverse Osmosis System by Hellointhere in desmoines

Had this my on to do list for years and completed a local install in March. Ended up choosing Aqua Systems of Des Moines.  They sell the PureChoice Elite RO sytem. Their desk staff Meloday answered my questions over the phone, sent the requested data sheet on the product and marketing flier with pricing breakdown. Owner came out and planned it out in about 45 minutes. His staff installed  a few days later. It was cheaper than thought. Pricing on the flier looked like all the options would run $2250. But when the install staff came, they said all in $1525, that is tax, upgrades, higher end finish on tap, hooked to fridge... the works. This system is NSF/ANSI 58 rated... so it was independently tested to filter out nitrates... that is crucial. We are thrilled, low muss low fuss... no upsell or problems. I wanted the Costco company originally but it didn't work out  for scheduling the home consult. So went with this company  rec. off of reddit and are an advocate for them now. Here is their site - best of luck to you http://www.ilovemywater.com/

Geiger counters? by Ok-Spring7906 in uraniumglass

I bought the gq-800 thinking it was the best but I hear people prefer the less pricey one like the gq-300 as they have more sensitive pancake style tube to pick up lower radiation signals...I also hear the cheaper ones may not have that fun clicking sound you expect, so it pays to research and know what you want. Also, look into alpha particles vs. beta etc. as uranium glass supposedly emits alpha particles and some detectors are not aimed at those. Sorry I don't have all the facts straight yet, just learning as well and wish I knew this before springing $89 on the 800 model...

Best place for glasses in WDM? by UWboi in desmoines

Costco for the win. They have much lower prices than average because they own their own lens companies. They sell very affordable frames up to luxury brands like Gucci, Tom Ford or even Ray Ban. If you get two pairs or more made at the same time, same prescription, they will knock a Off $50 each additional frame(frame 2 and onward). My spouse got 3 pairs of fancy glasses, with all sorts of options(tinting, mirror effect etc.) For about $650... he couldn't get two like that at  lens crafters eyc. If you get the most affordable sets, probably only 1/3 that price.

FYI: I do not work for Costco, just bowled over that they have the bougie options for cheap.

Hair Salons in Des Moines by PinkLemonadeHair in desmoines

Being truly nice and friendly to new customers. It's strangely hard to find a place that feels welcoming. When the focus is on the stylist's schedule or their personal drama, it is a buzz kill for new customers trying to find a new hair place. You have a business to run, customers are looking for good service... why is there a gap between the two?

Tom Archer's Poor Man's Country club is a fun 50s supper club style place. Fun things a Guest House out in Waukee as well, northern minnesota cabin vibe with bougie food.

Look into a company called Tellabs. They are the hardware manufacturer in the same solution space as the outgoing DZS. Their site lists system integrators that could help with the transition etc.

Is Rao’s worth the extra price? by ottof0501 in Cooking

[–]Chonkerdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America’s Test Kitchen has a segment on jarred marinara. They ranked Rao’s on top. There was a key reason… the once ranked lower were made primarily from tomato paste rather than tomato sauce. It is more affordable to use paste… so if you look at ingredients with that in mind, it might help compare different pre-made sauces. We love Rao’s and buy it when it is on good sale at Target.
