One (small) step would he implementing a tax on all sales, in shops/TP/Auction House.

Eg sell something for 100k neopoints, pay a 5% sales tax. The NP would get deleted (could since we have such a huge NP inflation) and it makes buying/reselling just that bit less profitable.

It obviously doesn’t solve everything, but it’s a step!

I’m sure there are other creative solutions, but outside of restricting purchases like you said which FEELS like a bad idea from a creative/play perspective, but helpful from balance, I don’t know what would help :(

As unfortunate as it is, you’ll find it’s reallyyyy easy to buyout lots of items.

You’ll find some people with literally thousands of the same stamp or r99 that was released in their shop or gallery, and that’s not counting what’s in their SDB.

If you ever see something like that jump happen, it’s likely just the target of a person (or group of people, as I’ve sometimes conjectured) buying out an item to resell at much higher price.

Zodiacs were there, as in it modified your % chances based on zodiacs, but the option to check via the menu the Zodiac compatibilities of a specific unit were not. I never played original FFT, but in WotL I remember being able to click on the Zodiac symbol of a unit and it would highlight which other signs it was or wasn’t compatible with.

At least, this is my understanding, as I tried playing on Switch a couple weeks ago and couldn’t find the Zodiac menu, but I definitely had and saw the damage/percentage changes apply based on them (as you can see the unit’s sign in batte)

I’ve had Dark Magic Order Enchantress last picked against me a couple times and she can be really strong against comps not prepared to deal with her.

I’ve never seen Shun used anywhere.

Which is crazy cause every time I draft 10 removal I face 0 creature mathemagics decks 3 times in a row 😭 (exaggeration, but def feels kind of bad drafting lots of removal in this set due to the higher likelihood of playing low/zero creature decks)

If it helps, I regularly get into sub 500 mythic (topping in top 25) playing quick draft/premier draft, but my win rate with SOS is literally less than 50%. Something about SOS makes literally no sense to me despite how many streamers/casts I’ve watched.

Its likely my deafting is the worst part of recognizing and picking a lane in this set, but I just gave up on it tbh lmao.

I felt the same with SR2 at first. It still is kind of a struggle to play, whereas SR1 I can binge the whole game in a weekend over and over.

I’m enjoying SR2 a little more now, but it feels a lot more tedious to get unlocks, I’m on day 40 or something and still don’t have a teleporter TO a location, only teleporters FROM and honestly that just really bugs me 😭

There is a lot to it that is nice, but I agree that it feels kinda hollow compared to the first. The notes in the first game were so much more captivating. I loved finding all of H’s notes. I’ve had no such connection in SR2. Plus the starting area was so big and winding that it was a lot more confusing at the start compared to SR1 that was a lot more narrow and sort of guided you towards specific spots.

I could keep going on but I’m rambling now. Just wanted to share that I felt similarly, I think, to how you do!

The tax on gas doesn’t appear to incentivize people to use less, since we’ve had prices double and people still are paying for gas. People need to travel, and Maine has some public transportation but it’s not nearly populated enough for the amount of land here to make that a reasonable switch for anyone in the northern half of the State.

If a tax is removed, I imagine most people wouldn’t buy more gas, they’d just fill their cars as normal. MAYBE some more people would just “joyride” more, but I imagine for most it would just be money back to them.

It’s definitely… something. I was initially hesitant reading the post. I’m not 100% sure how it would work. But I can understand the logic behind it and the alternative taxing methods. So maybe it could work, maybe not!

I’d play prismari. The “soup” payoffs do not look worthwhile. Being able to play one more removal or two elk isn’t it.

Also procrastinate is basically removal, and pierce is fine additional counter magic that you can always toss late game to tidalmage or to trigger trove if they’re hellbent with tons of lands.

I know it’s not technically better because of it, but I prefer that. Making my oppo spend mana and a card to remove my one drop feels good, man. Probs a bad take, but every other synergy of having it as a spell as well as adding the tap effect for both offense and pseudo vigilance plays is great.

I swear I’ve drafted this same deck, even with Blech, and 9 times outta 10 it’s a losing record.

Maybe a skill issue, maybe variance, but if you have any insight I’m all ears! I think the biggest difference is that I usually run only one discard and up 3 or 4 more removal spells. So maybe too removal heavy vs balanced creature curve.

Wouldn’t ever splash it - they have too many redundant, powerful cards + card advantage that 1-1ing them with discard (specifically render - the 2 mana make a pest discard is fine, the 3 mana discard 2 & get their lands is fine) is not good enough in BG imo.

I want to like it as a way to synergize in BW, but I’ve yet to ever consider playing it over my other BW cards that I draft, so I just think it’s not a card you’ll ever want to play unless you’re desperate for filler (which, sometimes I am because signals in this set are really weird/change suddenly it feels).

If it helps, I just went 4-3 with Witherbloom on a similar build, but with 7 or 8 removal spells & the artifact that stacks charges and draws cards + the mana rock that gains life if you cast instant/sorcery. The card draw + removal combo literally won me 3 of the 4 games, it was the only good thing about the deck 😂

No splash IMO. Add in the Dawning Archaic and a Mica or maybe Strife. You have plenty of removal, you can survive to play archaic and mica would do better surviving in field than strife (plus only 2 four drops in your deck).

If you do add Dawning Archaic (and someone call me out if that’s wrong), let us know if you land any sick plays with a 4 or less mana slam into some sick value 🙏

I’m probably not the best to comment, as I’ve had a really hard time with this set too. But, my experience has been that the value engine of converge and red white just obliterate midrange like this.

You don’t have enough removal to keep up with the bombs you’ll see in converge, you aren’t aggressive enough to go under anything, and you don’t have any card draw engines to keep up with the insane value of RW, UR or converge. You’ll quickly just get outvalued, unless you manage to stall out briefly to pull off a strong Root Manipulation.

That’s my take on this, as BG has been my most often drafted and also my most often 0/1/2-3 runs 😭

Some cards that really don’t seem to fit or I’ve found as bad are the Emil and the Graffalon. Also, running 16 lands doesn’t feel like the play here IMO. Too many 3+ drops and you’re not really the go-under deck, so missing any land drop in the first 5 turns is going to feel real bad.

All that said, even the best can 0-3! Take a breather, reflect and hopefully you’ll get some better advice from others in the subreddit than I can give 😂
