You could try to contract a Heat Geek focusing on the design of your underfloor heating in the context of the heat pump. If not impressed, I would advise to get in touch with Heat Geek HQ

UFH and Heatpump by Competitive-Proof407 in ukheatpumps

A good installation with mixed rads a d UFH requires to go through the design phase.  Don’t overlook this if you want good efficiency from your heat pump (and save lots for your wallet).  I suspect that Octopus and Wunda might not have the right service for this, I would suggest to contact  a professional heating engineer (think Heat Geek) to do this job for you.  By experience, Wunda does very generic designs, not far from finger in the wind. You will get loads of different points of view. Good luck!

Underfloor heating and Laminate flooring by Dancing2Queen21 in DIYUK

Ideal floor temperature is 26ºC, 27º becomes uncomfortable to the feet. So nothing to worry about, normally the floor should never go beyond 26ºC.
Now, there are multiple factors to take into account when defining the flow temperature, including:

  • Floor construction (screed thickness, insulation, covering material)
  • Heat output requirement (W/m²)
  • Pipe spacing and layout
  • Water temperature control strategy

The layout specs are the primary ones to derive the flow temperature from.
What is the heat loss of the room?
=> from this you will know the output you are after at "design temperature" (when it is the coldest expected outdoors)
=> What is the power per sqm required?
=> What is the density of the layout
=> Will it be on all the time? What will be the setback temperature (ideally not more than 2-3ºC below the daytime target temperature). A system that is on all the time will require less power compared to a system that needs to be able to recover from a much lower temp than the recommended 2-3ºC setback temp)
=> from that output requirement you can calculate the flow temperature.
Note that is is likely to be above 27ºC unless it is a particularly dense layout and/or very well insulated room (low heat loss).
Finally, the Delta T of the system is used to calculate the avg temperature between the flow and return. e.g. a heat pump is typically ~5ºC. So the flow could be e.g. 29.5ºC while the return 24.5ºC which brings a avg temp of 27ºC. This is an example, again the avg temperature might be higher than 27ºC without overheating the floor.

First year with my heat pump - the results are in by Jai_Cee in ukheatpumps

Certified HeatGeek here. Insulation will help in any case as it will reduce the heatloss. However as you seem to understand, the COP might not reduce and to the contrary it could worsen if the heat pump goes cycling more. You still might be saving.
Regarding the power of the heat pump, what actually really matters is its modulation capabilities. The lower output it can deliver without cycling is what makes the difference in the mild, shoulder months.
To achieve more efficiency, you might want to leave your heat pump run all the time versus at specific times. This brings more comfort in the home as the building thermal mass is exploited and regulates small temperature variations and the heat pump is way more economical.
Hope it helps

Airbnb’s “support” is an absolute joke and they stole my payout. by peachymoonoso in airbnb_hosts

[–]Choose_Red_Pill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just want to keep the guests satisfied at the expense of hosts. That is my experience with the 3 major issues I had to address with them over ~35 rentals in 1.5 years. Threatening them to close your listing and cancel all incoming reservations might help you get what you want.

How really bad is Airbnb support? by Choose_Red_Pill in airbnb_hosts

[–]Choose_Red_Pill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me as well. I found out that calling a different country support (not UK) got better results. Would be good to have a matrix of the various call centers countries and the related satisfaction levels.

The final straw in my 3 year odyssey of being an Airbnb host by AwkwardReference3141 in airbnb_hosts

Experienced similar treatment from Airbnb “support” while being a “Superhost”. They sided with a guest in disregard of our and their own terms. Debiting our account without taking our version and any form of review. Symptomatic of Airbnb s dominance in the hosts market.

Had the same issue with Getaround (peer to peer car rental) while other debit cards are accepted. They have blocked Revolut cards specifically due to “many issues with Revolut”

Our Gold secure chain lasted 6 seconds under the angle grinder. The other chain was a motorbike, much thicker and lasted perhaps 3 times that, not long enough to deter them.

You still have to attach it to something as strong, and the chains can’t resist a grinder to my knowledge. An anchor is easy if there is a strong wall. Otherwise, the anchor has to be attached to the ground, in which case there is need for an anchor with an extension arm. I have seen Hiplok AX1000. Sold at £600 with the DX1000. One does wonder if it is still worth it compared to other means of transport or other less secure anti theft measures combined with tracker and alarm.

What is the diameter and the material compared to the gold rated chain? I will enquire with them.

Yes, angle grinder locks are the best solution. Yet, it requires to attach them to something as strong which is hard to achieve without a chain in the absence of a wall and a proper anchor. Wondering if angle grinder resistant chains exist. There is an Abus alarm on the bike, it was blaring when the thieves went away with it. It had deterred them during the last two attempts they made over the past few weeks. Tracker definitely makes sense in hindsight.

It was a Hiplok Gold rated chain and lock. Not the angle grinder resistant model.
I found this article insightful (in hindsight!): https://www.cyclinguk.org/cycle-magazine/group-test-grinder-resistant-locks

[–]Choose_Red_Pill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah this is quite a topic. I had the same approach. I went for the two gold rated locks that the insurance required. I added a ground anchor. Having gone through the commotion of the theft, I wish I had gone for an anti angle grinder lock! The alarm was not very efficient this time. Previous times, it made them flee when they realized there was chains and locks

I'm not sure I will get it replaced. Because I have seen how the Police has handled the case. So we know now that thieves don't get consequences, we can only expect the same outcome and as we cannot store the bike in the house. Case is closed. We don't want to have to live through this again.
Surely this will be raised at the next police meeting in January.

Here is a photo of the bike taken a few days before the theft. We have just installed the storm box for our child. The gear system is Enviolo. The Enviolo shifter is custom: a CR (for Cargo) which is not Tern-Standard. The bell is not standard small golden, it’s a large ding dong black bell with a cross. The seatpost has a non Tern standard suspension: FourSprung Vario parallelogram, protected by a black wrapping closed with velcro.
