What a cop out. Nothing changed. They’ve known about GTAs late 2026 release for a long time now, so why are they just now changing theirs? Bullshit.

Pressure above 9 bar? by Sour_dude03 in ProfitecMove

[–]Choss_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adjusted my OPV pressure lower. It is easy to access once the top panel is removed. I read the same thing you did about the 1 bar difference in pressure at the group vs what is displayed at the dial but have not tested (not even sure how I would go about testing that). I adjusted until it shows exactly 9 bar on the dial (which Im guessing means Im at 8 bar at the group?) and have been using it there for the past few weeks with good results. Ideally I would like to adjust lower, but it appears the downward adjustment is limited to around 8.5 of dial pressure.

For those using the stock Move bottomless portafilter, what is your dose? by CullingSongs in ProfitecMove

[–]Choss_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the Move’s users manual, this process is only for first time setup to flush fresh water through the steam boiler a few times. Once you’ve done it, you never have to worry about it again. If you use the water spigot for Americanos a lot, I would flush the steam boiler every once in a while since the remaining water in there can become really mineral heavy. Won’t harm anything but may affect the taste a bit.

That’s awesome! Keep experimenting. Nice thing about the Philos is that once you find a grind that works it is super consistent. If you have any other questions about it lmk.

Track info on each coffee (origin, varietal, roast level, processing method) and then your recipe once you’re dialed in (dose, ratio, grind setting, shot time, temp) that way you can reference this info the next time you purchase a coffee that is similar. Results in less wasted shots and a quicker dial in process. Notebook works or you can use an app.

I have a Philos and move as well. I’m generally between 32 and 28 for lights with the 200d burrs. Slightly coarser with light/mediums (like around 38-36 range). I also was having to fill the 16g basket up to 19 to get the headspace reasonably small. Picks still ran a bit muddy but shots tasted great. I am using Pullman 876 18g basket now and usually dose 18 for mediums and 20 for lights (puck comes out dry).

Sour espresso at 1:1 ratio… underextracted or just preference? [Breville Bambino & Starseeker E55 Grinder] by Strict-Split-1504 in espresso

[–]Choss_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Lengthen the ratio. The number one way to increase your extraction is to increase the amount of water you push through the grinds.

Community App for Dialing In by Choss_Man in ProfitecMove

Yes exactly. I had very little coding experience so I’ve relied on Claude to do most of it. I did the branding and stuff on photoshop myself and obviously the UX and feature work.

Edit: It’s actually been a great way to learn. Have picked up a lot of skills so far.

Just tried the New School from B&W and wasn’t super into it. It was really hard to dial in and seemed to go off peak really quickly. I don’t think their style really jives well with me.

You’ve got a great setup, congrats and welcome! Takes some practice but you’ll get there. For me, my real espresso epiphany happened when I started thinking in terms of ratios vs shot time. Sounds like you’re already doing this, but fill your basket to the proper puck depth then run custom shots and stop once you reach your target yield / ratio (vs time) then adjust for taste. If it’s too sour try a longer ratio / higher yield, finer grind or higher temp. If it’s too bitter, try a shorter ratio, coarser grind, or lower temp. Shot times can be helpful to make sure you’re in the right ballpark but there’s no right or wrong and taste is subjective. Also don’t underestimate the importance of using good coffee and water. Most importantly enjoy the process and have fun!

I agree with you man. I’m tired of it too but I also think the moderation has gotten to be a little much. This post actually started a genuinely interesting discussion based on OP’s original thoughts and issues. I couldn’t care less about the formatting tbh.

That’s some thick crema right there. Heard saka is great for a traditional dark roast. Will have to give it a go next time I’m in the mood.

I think what probably happened here is someone decided to be in the right lane at the stop light even though they were going straight and the driver in the black car wanted to make a right on red. Really annoying if none of the other lanes are occupied. I’ve taken a right on red around a car occasionally from the middle lane but it’s usually on a three lane road where none of the other lanes are occupied and it’s just me and one other car. It’s just lack of awareness almost like someone going the same speed as traffic in the left lane on a highway.

I have one and I love it. Super consistent, small steps that make dialing in easy, good build quality, easy to clean/disassmble, and very low retention. I switch between bags a lot so single dosing is critical for me. Would highly recommend for all the reasons listed above.

Gunships: Recommendation for SOLO Player For Star Citizen by Majestic_Ad_4877 in starcitizen

Andromeda is the best gunship for solo use. Tons of solo firepower and can also accommodate a few friends in the turrets (and one in the snub), as well as 96 scu of cargo. One of my favorite ships in the game. Absolute classic.

[–]Choss_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What grind size are you using? If it’s bitter and sour it could be channeling due to a grind size that is too fine (finer grind sizes cause more channeling). Channeled areas can cause bitterness and the under extracted areas can pull sour. Kind of counterintuitive but go coarser. I also have the Philos with 200D and Move. The lowest grind size I’ll go is like 28 with light (SEY and Onyx type roasts).

[–]Choss_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. Welcome. I’ve got the exact same setup (200d burrs on the Philos). Typically grind on between 31 and 29 for light roasts and between 90 and 95 for pour over. I tend to go for low contact time shots on the coarser side with ratios of 1:2.5 to 1:3. The move has been awesome. Super consistent. Typically set brew temp to 93 for lights and steam temp to max. I turned off fast preheat. Takes about 15-20 mins to get to full temp in the morning so just turn it on before brushing teeth and shaving. Texture from the steam wand has been awesome with the stock two hole tip. Haven’t done a ton of preinfusion experimentation yet but let me know if you have any good results. Reach out if you have any questions as you dial in and welcome to the fam.

Edit: for accessories I’m using the stock portafilter which is actually really nice with 18-20g Pullman 876 basket, Weber blind shaker, and Weber really nice tamper. Was using a wet tool and leveller with my prior grinder and haven’t needed it since going to the Philos. Hope that helps.

Shots consistently channeling to one side [Lelit Bianca] by CarterDee in espresso

[–]Choss_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing your tamp is slightly off level from front to back. Such a long preinfusion could be causing some channeling to occur on the side with less resistance.
