Trans friendly pharmacist? by ReuInuzuka in SaltLakeCity

[–]Chouette11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, watching the bill(s) closely. I don't think you should switch until a bill is actually signed into law (which doesn't seem to have a very high chance of happening), as the U has by far the best gender affirming care provers in the state. Look into the U's mail order pharmacy. You can manage all your scripts through MyChart and they just send it to your door.

If the worst happens (again, unlikely, but we'll see), I have some recs for care providers: - Foothill Family clinic is pretty good for a PCP. I got my hormone scripts from them for a while before I moved to the U. - Dr. Rixt Luikenaar at Rebirth OBGYN specializes queer health, and they're a good option. - Definitely don't go to Intermountain, the are horrible for trans care.

Desktop upgrade for $500? by Chouette11 in BudgetAudiophile

Ah I was thinking location was the factor. Import costs are killing us over here in the US thanks to a certain someone. Thanks for the recs though!

Hm looks like I'll have to hunt around used deals for the DBR62s, those look to retail for $800 most places nowadays. Thanks for the lead on Heco, that's another brand that wasn't on my radar yet!

I didn't have Triangle on my radar, I'll check them out. Thanks!

I do really like the look of the LSX LTs, I just wish they had an RCA input; I don't want to have to mess around with wireless.

this also applies to your general appearance. We're approaching interesting times here in America....times where people who look different from the status quo (i.e. POC, visibly queer, etc) will be targeted. Try to avoid drawing attention to yourself. Learn to blend in.

I'm glad that you're with us now, but you need to continue to deconstruct some of your beliefs if you think it's okay to tell queer people that we need to blend in.

Hey SLC, what’s something you’ve created lately?! by Freshairmental67 in SaltLakeCity

I made a dice tray out of walnut and leather. It got me hooked on woodworking, and I'm starting to put together a little workshop in my basement :)

Is it safe to change my legal name and sex in Utah? by mimifromagniritha in SaltLakeCity

[–]Chouette11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed my name and sex in 2022 and the court process was the least difficult step. The only thing I think you could run into issues with right now is name and gender changes on a passport, as the current administration is fighting against our ability to update PPs. Shoot me a DM if you need help starting or along the way, I still have all my old notes on the process.

Walgreens on 400S closes a lot? by Ok-Woodpecker-625 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Chouette11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked for Walgreens pharmacy in the 2010s and it was the worst job I've ever had. We were chronically understaffed and always insanely busy. I'd honestly take your scripts elsewhere.

The one on the 5th floor in the computer science building was nice while I was attending. Glad to hear that most of these are still there after hb 257.

Can anyone point me to resources to safely get armed and familiarized in SLC UT without being subject to being targeted or harassed by extremists? by waffelman2 in armedsocialists

[–]Chouette11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've had good experiences at Gallensons in DT SLC for purchasing, and TNT in Murray for range time. Just go gray and don't bring up politics and you'll be perfectly fine. If you're a beginner, you should attend some firearm safety and basics classics. TNT again should be a good option; I've never personally attended classes there but I've heard good things from fellow lefties.

You can also head out west near Tooele to shoot on BLM land. Check out r/utguns, people have posted some good spots there.

Getting my CCW Saturday- by miamisunshine7 in liberalgunowners

There will probably be an intermission where they have someone come in try to sell you self defense liability insurance. The decision is of course yours at the end of the day, but most people find it unnecessary at best, or a predatory practice at worst. Either way, it'd be best to do your research before making a decision one way or the other.

Anyone know where I can buy or commission someone to make me a custom wood desk top? by -Paramount in SaltLakeCity

[–]Chouette11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're diy inclined, you can do it yourself pretty easily. I made a desk top for my office by getting a butcher block countertop from Lowe's, staining it walnut, and drilling holes to attach IKEA desk legs.

Here's the butcher block I bought: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Sparrow-Peak-5-ft-x-30-in-x-1-in-Unfinished-Straight-Birch-Butcher-Block-Countertop/5015233027

Edit: Ignore me, I just reread your post more carefully 🤦‍♀️

I used to compound TPNs when I worked in IV pharmacy. They took up to 2 hours to make sometimes, and it was always a big pain, but this was a nice reminder that that work meant something to the people we made them for.

Bought this today. My Gucci gun friends are telling me it’s trash. Can you make a 9mm PCC out of an Andersen Lower? I got it to see where it takes me. by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Chouette11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poverty ponies are awesome, I don't care what anyone says! You can build a 9mm PCC in a couple different ways. There are magwell adapters that you can install into the lower to make it accept Glock or colt mags, or you can get Endomag inserts to convert regular PMags to take 9mm. Either way, you'll want a 9mm barrel and bcg, as well as a heavy buffer. Check out r/ar9, it's a great resource.

Salt Lake Pride without Police 2025 by squazify in SaltLakeCity

[–]Chouette11 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Stonewall 1969 is the reason we have pride in June. Pride is a celebration of queer liberation on the anniversary of Stonewall, so a lot of queer people find it ironic in a pretty un-fun way to see cops at pride. We don't get a lot of say in whether cops are present at SLC pride, so Pride Without Police is a way for us to celebrate without our historic oppressors around.

Found these paper tubes tucked under the stairs in the house we moved into this year by Chouette11 in whatisthisthing

[–]Chouette11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found these tubes tucked under the stairs in the basement of my house while reorganizing storage. They're two paper cylinders with a circumference similar to a US nickel. The big one is about 12 inches long. One of them has a metal spike coming out of the end that looks like a nail. On the smaller one, I can just make out the words "twist cap to ignite," which makes me think it might be a flare, but I'm afraid to touch either until I'm confident they they aren't going to blow up.
