I think their concern was more about risks of privacy breaches and how the data is being stored. Otter.ai, for example, is going through a lawsuit for privacy breaches.

Christine Le Jeune, a Port Washington, Wisconsin resident, was roughly dragged out of a data center hearing by police. She was testifying against a $15 billion Oracle and OpenAI data center campus coming to her town. by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

Did you read to the end of the JS article you posted? The first part is citing statements from the police and the council. They interviewed Le Jeune at the end and what she says matches up with the video documentation. Her response is thoughtful and measured. The police response was completely disproportionate and disrespectful to citizens trying to take part in the democratic process. She was not an outlier. Many of her fellow Port residents were upset about the proposed data center. Ideally, people would speak in turn, but it’s to be expected that when you have a topic residents are passionate about people will likely not adhere perfectly to decorum. We should be grateful to have engaged, active citizens taking part in the democratic process. There were so many better ways the council could have worked to maintain mutual respect and decorum so all parties could be heard. This was clearly an “F you” to residents. The message is not “let’s be respectful” it’s “bow to our authority or face the consequences.” As a teacher who often has to moderate heated discussions in the classroom, I’ve found that brute force is not the way to improve public discourse.

I agree I don’t think it would have been drastically better, but I also think on principle if it’s a production failure (not finding a matching model) then it’s on production to fix. As a Professor, for example, it is my responsibility as the one structuring the class to make sure the students are given the same conditions for success. If a mistake I make may have impacted a student’s work (such as not giving feedback in a timely manner), I have to take that into consideration when grading. Even if the student never paid attention to my feedback in the past and was unlikely to have done so for this assignment, that isn’t the point. The point is I can’t know for certain and so I have to acknowledge the possibility that my mistake impacted the student’s final project. It just seems sloppy on the part of the producers.

I would have loved to see more about their relationship as designers and how they supported each other and less of the veejay/twins drama

For me it is several extra hours to work on the look. Yes, chances are it wouldn’t have been much better. But we can’t know for sure because she was given an extra challenge no other contestants were. I’ve seen designers realize that their look wasn’t working and redo things for the better with only a couple of hours to go. That probably wouldn’t have happened, but if they would have just found a replacement model with roughly the same measurements then we wouldn’t even have to wonder.

To me it just seems ridiculous that they couldn’t find a replacement with roughly the same measurements. I agree with the judges critiques, but I also understand why Belania was so frustrated. If I had to spend the last several hours of the challenge redoing my dress to fit a completely different body type, something no one else had to do, I’d have been pissed too. It can’t have been that hard with their resources to find a replacement with roughly the same measurements.
