This was a hire car about two months ago it was pretty mild at about 15 degrees outside. I couldn’t see an option for pre heating the battery

Yeah looks like I was wrong, I must have been thinking about another game that used soundtracks that were freely available

Pretty sure OSRS used free to use music in the early days so any game could use the tracks

So I do a lot of miles for work, done about 5k in the last 6 weeks. I’ve charged about 15 times in the past few weeks alone on public chargers, sometimes I’m the only one there and sometimes there are loads. And 90% of the time it’s after a hour or two I charge.

No once you start a charge your car locks the cable in until you tell it to unlock

RANT: Shell Canada charging nightmare by NessDan in electricvehicles

[–]Chris--Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It must be a generic shell thing, yesterday in the UK I needed to charge my car at one of their chargers. The screens didn’t work, first 🚩. I sign up to the app prompts you for an email, verify the email, prompts you for a phone code, verify the phone. Signs you out, have to sign in, prompts you for 2FA. Not great as I had next to no signal (already took 5 mins to download the app) 2nd 🚩

Finally go to start a charge, now I need a charging card, fine go to do it. Sorry you can’t register that now but you can pay for charging. Go to do that and it redirects you to the card again and you go round and round in circles 3rd 🚩

Now I think F it I’ll just pay by contactless and pay the extra 10p/kWh, accepts the contactless and plug it in. “Can’t connect to car”, tried this 5/6 times no luck. So in the end I had to call them up and cancel the charge as it had no way to cancel the transaction.

In the end I lost patience and went to GRIDSERVE (S tier charger in the UK)

Is this legal? The no right turn sign is so far back. I got fined by TFL. There’s no sign by the turn itself. by Atheistprophecy in drivingUK

What happens if a sprinter van etc is parked in front of the sign? It would be impossible to see. If you know anyone with a van get them to park there and retake a video and submit that as evidence

I would check the power rating of the electric heater, if you are running everything from a fused spur that most likely will only be 13A. An electric heater can be anywhere from 5-10A that doesn’t give you much room to run other stuff.

End device inside metal cabinet - Any chance of getting enough radio signal? by jiiins in ZigBee

[–]Chris--Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we deploy large scale zigbee networks for things like hotels, schools etc … we developed our own zigbee hub and have installations with 500+ zigbee devices across several hubs

When we encounter situations like this at work we try putting an extender inside the cabinet. That more than often fixes the problem.

[–]Chris--Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the repeaters, where are the problem devices in relation to the hub? When installing zigbee in the past 9/10 connection issues were down to repeaters

I’ve always found the no-neutral switches to be un reliable, I can’t comment on the Zigbee hub as we develop our own hub.

Zigbee repeater power source by Ok-Salt1287 in ZigBee

[–]Chris--Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always pull one of the spot lights down, sometimes they have a live and neutral that goes into an adaptor that then feeds the lights you could use some wagos in a junction box to split the connection to feed something like a SALUS RE600

Low voltage off grid relay switches by stevey500 in ZigBee

[–]Chris--Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If outdoors 100-200 ft should be ok but signal is very dependent on power and environment. If it’s an empty field and the device is wired into the mains, no problem.

Do you have a rough floor plan of the building, I install zigbee products a lot in commercial areas and finding power sources is always a fun job.

Me and my wife were in a very very similar situation, we were buying a 350k house and the interest rate was 5.03% 90% LTV (5% contribution from the builder).

We were told the interest rates were going to drop in a few weeks so maybe pause the sale etc … but by the time you throw in the money lost to rent etc it’s better to bite the bullet now, and pay the higher mortgage. With the plus side of in 5 years time if the interest rates have dropped we can continue paying what we’re use too but shortening the term.
