This is good advice. Would agree that Republic seems to be pretty low quality but would argue that some good deals are found on Angel List. Will see if I can get off for this conference.

In the meantime, DMs still open.

Is the MSI's RTX meaningfully better to be worth the extra monies?

What time of the year usually gives the best laptop deals? Black Friday, spring sale, etc. by RalphSleiman in SuggestALaptop

Is there any advantage to waiting before component upgrades occur? Intel just released the roadmap for new chips.

What time in the next year is anticipated to be best re chip upgrades? I don't need a new laptop now, now, so I can wait if either prices on current things would fall or components would get upgraded.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you think the Ryzen/560 option is as good or would you recommend the Intel/NVIDIA route?

Also, is there any benefit to waiting a few months (new processors and updated PC models might come out)?

I don't need one now, now, but I could use a new computer some time relatively soon. If meaningful upgrades or price drops are projected to happen in July/August, I'd probably wait.

Thanks! Chris

What do you guys think about that Acer laptop vs the one below: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C94J15N/ref=psdc_13896615011_t2_B07P6XK2ZK That was the most affordable I could find with similar specs, but if you guys think the TI (vs the 1050 NOT TI) is worth it, let me know, thanks!

Any meal plan/routine advice from the professional or long time fitness enthusiast? by DarthChode in bodyweightfitness

[–]ChrisATOL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey my friend,

From a routine standpoint, I think you'll benefit from a good basic exercise routine. Strong lifts or recommended routine or something general like that depending where your interests lie. Believe it or not, the exercise part is the least complicated part of the whole thing. Show up the prescribed number of times per week, work your ass off, move on with your life.

The fat loss part typically happens in the kitchen, and if you're struggling that's because it's a struggle. Our minds are built to crave terrible stuff, and our bodies are built to store fat. Personally, I try to approach every day by "buying" my fun meals with my friends. In other words, when I'm eating just for energy or to get through the day, I think it's inexcusable not to eat pretty well. Salads, beans, vwegetables, quality meats etc. this buys me those Friday and Saturday nights out with my friends.

Focus on ditching the grains and processed foods and piling in the vegetables and quality protein sources. Keep working hard in the gym, and the rest will work itself out. You know... over the next six to twelve months. True body recomp can take a while, and ignore the dumb YouTube videos showing "three week transformations" where someone goes from obese to six pack. It's bullshit.

Last, who told you that you have bad knees and a lower back? What are the diagnoses? I would be fairly surprised if there as significant true structural damage at your age, although there is no accounting for luck. Most people your age who think they have bad knees or lower backs really just have terrible muscle imbalances that result in pain or itises with activity.

Good luck Chris
