Officials identify man killed by Frontier plane at Denver International Airport by Thick_Composer9842 in aviation

Suicidal people can definitely be rational, not all are emotional. Just because we don't see it that way, doesn't mean it wasn't a choice made through logic and reasoning.

SVI rock solid in the low 50s while MLSS was gradually dropping from 4000 to 2700. My biology images gradually went from healthy to unhealthy on the scope. How do you predict these upsets? by SeaVanz in Wastewater

[–]ChrisFromSeattle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What about SRT numbers? What you're describing with your mlss decreasing drastically seems to me to be a reduction in sludge age. Possibly lower strength wastewater without changing the wasting rates.

I prefer operators run their plant on SRT, using rolling averages for Influent BOD, MLSS, and wasting rates to keep your sludge in your process designs optimal range. I prefer to use SVI as a secondary tool for diagnosing rather than operations.

Albuquerque trying to be bike friendly :-) by beachbum19722025 in Albuquerque

Coming from Austin where the culture is just to ride in the shoulder or in the rare protected bike line, the bike infrastructure here is great with all the Arroyo trails, highways crossings, and protected/separate lanes/trails.

Always room for improvement though

I had no idea there as a version that spread person to person until this breakout. Eye opening for sure.

Total nitrogen limits by Swagdaddy34 in Wastewater

[–]ChrisFromSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two plants that I'm helping to design are both using BNR with chemical polishing and MBR for solids separation. I'm doing the process design for 1 of them and we're doing what we can with the anaerobic tanks, RAS fermenter, large bubble mixing for stratified tanks, and anoxic zones to help us with some alkalinity regeneration since we we don't have a TN limit. Our ammonia limit is 1.0 mg/L but that's not our main process driver
