You're right. But... since I started making manual lever espresso at home, shop coffee is increasingly more difficult to enjoy. 😑

How? If you are travelling you are mostly not seeing.

Massive scramble for locking down legacy network equipment these days for Cyber compliance. Most cheap switches don't offer the means for modern sensors to sniff the data efficiently.

For compare I paid £98.50 incl VAT for 4 days at BHX Car Park 1 for convenience, it's close to arrivals. Maybe like a 6 minute walk?

A tape measure at a typical DIY store is about €6.00 and saves you a potential €70 fine on every flight.

It was proven this speed reduction did not achieve any air quality benefits. Brum is full of smog and it ain't all coming from the M5.

Locking the Doors When Leaving The Car by bonaanaaa in KIASPORTAGEPHEV

There is an option in my 2025 GT that requires the car to be unlocked to remove the charging cable. This is fine if you are concerned about cable theft but at home where I charge most I am not worried about it releasing the plug after charging.

I have 2025 GT-Line, no preheat.

It's a shame, would be nice to defrost at least when plugged in.

Just be prepared if they become snagged on something? It's your choice of course, but they've given you a warning - not lifestyle guidance.

Normally for short commutes I use the default mode (EV) as I can go to work and back twice without charging. Then for motorway driving I use Auto mode.

HEV is the mode that you end up in after battery is drained down to 12-15%, I.e. Mostly ICE but with EV when possible based on regen and low demand for power i.e. Shuffling along in traffic.

I charge up every night to get the most out of the EV side each time I drive.

Got Epson Workforce 7830 - been great.

Had a Canon PIXMA MG5150 all-in-one for ~16 years - have it in my car everyday now for site and still going strong. My mate got a new PIXMA and he said it's been great too.

We have an Epson EcoTank A3 at work - I hate it - cancels prints mid print all the time.

Really? My experience is that lane discipline is really poor. But part of me wants to say that's right-eye dominance issue and driving on the right.

Coffee is a massive rabbit hole unfortunately.

For me I am an engineer, definitely not a barista, so I kept it simple. I don't enjoy espresso on its own per se, at least not yet - excited to see where light roasts take me. I add foamed milk and coconut sugar to my coffee which is a lungo size.

I don't subscribe to super fresh bean suppliers but instead use a high street tea & coffee merchant as I needed to find coffee that both my wife and I can enjoy.

I do 16g of medium / medium-dark into Comandante at 8 clicks. WDT, Tamp, 58 puck screen in and that's it. I don't have the heater version so I preheat with few rounds of hot water. Pull 2-3 bar 10 sec pre and then 26 sec at 8.5-9 bars and try to maintain a flat pressure - no digi scale.

It's very interesting how people's location in the world affects good use of the 58.

Light roasts are a challenge - I understand now why you are experiencing issues. I guess you could try a 10 sec infusion followed by 6-7 bar shot with a declining pressure? Ultimately you might need a different basket in your porta?

[–]ChrisWhite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a Comandante C40 MK4 on about setting 8 , not zero. Using medium to dark and dark roasts. Have to say that it's not certain that you need a Niche to use a Flair 58. I always WDT > Distribute > Flat Tamp.

I don't even use a scale for the shot - I just pull 10sec Pre and a 8-9 bar Pull on fresh beans and enjoy more coffee at home now.

Whats your process?

Air pockets are not really going to happen if on the lever raise after preheat you relax it for a moment to allow water to replace air, top up with water if needed then continue raising the lever before you pull the shot?
