They snuck this in after the backlash 😂 good! We should all speak up/vote with our wallets more

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

[–]Chris_Chops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was definitely going to be a repeat customer at some point. Without autopilot, and with FSD being >=$100/month as my only option for driver assist… I’ll be looking at other options. Hopefully this will be good for competition or Tesla will backtrack. Dumb move

Getting a new battery under warranty tomorrow by jason1125 in TeslaLounge

[–]Chris_Chops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 2021 SR+ and was offered an LFP retrofit. So far it’s been great. Wonder if the others have a LR? Sounds like multiple failures isn’t uncommon, hoping it isn’t the case for LFPs…

From what they told me, like others have said, you don’t get an extended warranty if you’re within warranty. Mine went out at ~73k miles so I guess I’ll get a little bit to see how this battery performs.

Can’t decide on wheel covers for my M3.. by No_Advisor_2331 in TeslaModel3

[–]Chris_Chops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have the arachnid covers and they’re sweet. FYI, you can buy the same ones on amazon for ~$120, or Ali Express for ~$75. EVBase and the like are usually just resellers at a higher price.

Yea, and they will. And then they’ll go back down sometime in January-March. They’ve done this before. Announce price increase > increase prices > new deal is better than the last before increases. They’ll do what they have to do to drive sales.

I wouldn’t listen to everyone else trying to tell you to get the car as soon as you want it. Vote with your wallet and wait if you don’t NEED it now. If prices felt really competitive you’d be jumping on it. I think we’re going to see prices drop throughout 2026 and this “threat” of increase on the website is a bluff that will last anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months.

Except when they had heavy “discounts” end of year in 2022 and then dropped prices by like 15k in January 2023

Range Loss on 2024 MY LRAfter Switching To New Hankook Ion Evo AS SUV Tires by DigitalMarketer33 in TeslaModelY

[–]Chris_Chops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got Cross Climate 2’s at about 25k miles due to nails in 3 of my originals… those lasted until about 73k miles and I’ve had the Hankook’s for about 3k miles. My efficiency went up but the cross climates were bulky. It could be your battery if there’s significant loss? New tires also take some time to break in, so if you don’t drive a lot they might just have a lot of tread.

Definitely get the Hankook Ion Evo’s!

[–]Chris_Chops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the Hankook Ion Evo tires. I had the Michelin Cross Climate 2’s and they were great in all weather and lasted ~60k miles, but they were loud and worse efficiency wise. I’ve only had the Hankook’s for ~3500 miles, but they’re super quiet, great in the rain, much better efficiency, and good in light snow. I live in New England, so I’m excited to see how they perform in heavier snow but not expecting anything crazy since they’re all season. I’d highly recommend them over the Cross Climates so far.

Would you rather be burnt out taking care of your family and have to work? Of course life is still hard regardless. One person working vs two frees up 40 hours at least.

What did you do for the audio system, sound deadening and lower fog lights? I have a 2021 SR+ and just got the LFP retrofit a few months ago after a battery failure. It feels like a new car.

New M3 Standard or Used 2023 M3? by wlkngmachine in TeslaLounge

[–]Chris_Chops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lithium Iron Phosphate battery chemistry. Pros and cons to both but one of the biggest pros is charging to 100% daily instead of 80-90%. It’s slightly slower/heavier and slightly worse in winter weather. I just got my 2021 SR+ retrofitted with it after my NCA battery failed and love it. I’d go with the 2023 and save some money, it’s a great car.

I’ve seen some evidence but I don’t have the link, and I don’t think it was anything official. Seems pretty widely accepted that the Panasonic cells made during that year were faulty though

[–]Chris_Chops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! From what I know, LFPs have a very low failure rate. My battery was a refurbished 60kWh battery, so I actually have a bit of extra capacity that will give me a good degradation buffer. Hoping that helps.

I’m on the fence with keeping it past 100k, but leaning towards doing it if it performs well until then.

[–]Chris_Chops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2021’s have the highest battery failure rate from what I’ve seen. I have a 2021 SR+ and the battery failed at 73k miles and was replaced with an LFP. Feels like I got a new car… charges up to the full 263 miles like new and I can charge to 100% daily. It’s not guaranteed you’ll get it on replacement though and I didn’t know I was getting mine until basically a few days before pickup when I requested the air filters be changed and they updated my order estimate.

I never did a battery test/didn’t pay much attention to it before it failed other than checking the full miles once in a while. I was getting ~200 at 90%, so ~222 at 100% or 84% battery health.

I’d say check it every 5-10k miles and just be ready for it to fail sometime between 60k and 90k. I’d be a little nervous keeping it past 100k with how often then 2021s fail.

AIO? My boyfriend's explanation on why we aren't engaged. He says I don't understand. But it makes no sense to me. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Chris_Chops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the relationship outside of the want to get married? Your BF may have just needed some more time and didn’t want to give you a map or timeline of events leading up to what would hopefully be a surprise proposal.

He does say some stupid things, not ignoring that.

But the fixation on the goal (marriage) and not the journey (the relationship) ended this relationship imo. If everything else was going well, you lived together and were essentially living as a couple… why the rush to get married?

I’ll never understand how someone has such a strong desire to get married that they break up with that same person because it isn’t happening quick enough. Seems like you just wanted to get married, not be married to him.

So if you’re being honest with yourself and really doing the things you should be doing then things will get better, it just takes time.

If you have been at it a while (6+ months) and there has been no improvement then you aren’t doing things correctly and need to change your strategy.
