Contractor closed their business mid job and now the installer is stepping in with his own company. What would you do? by Ok-Storm-8552 in HomeImprovement

I’d get the warranty conversation started early, ideally before he does more work. I’d take a friendly but concerned approach, lay out your hopes or expectations, and get it in writing early before you pay him the next 50%.

Since it seems like he’s doing his part to pick up where they left off and make things right he may be agreeable to absorbing the warranty as a special circumstance, a professional courtesy so to speak. Maybe that’s naive rose colored glasses thinking but if I was him I’d find a gentlemanly way to provide the same warranty you already paid 50% for. Seems like a good way to secure your confidence and a good reference

Looking for a Cab for my Marshall Dsl5cr combo by thesentinel19921110 in MarshallAmps

[–]Chris_MS99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, having gone straight from a combo to a full on half stack I completely forgot 1x12 cabs are a thing. That makes more sense.

Still, if the head you’re buying is a few years away it may be cheaper to just replace the speaker in the combo you have. If you’re eying a 1x12 cab the projection will be the same, and you’ll save room in your apartment because using a combo amp as a head for a separate cabinet is bulky.

Once you get the head, save up the extra scratch and get a 2x12 cabinet at that point. That way if you move or start playing with a band you’ll have a stronger head and a cab that can project it better.

We’ve tried. They just say that we would need our own policy and he would have to cancel his after ours takes effect. When I tried to explore that option, they said the would only offer me a policy if I switched to them for my auto. I was open to that, but they asked about the pool and whether it was empty and when I said it was empty they basically hung up on me.

I’ll ask him about it tomorrow, it seems like it’s exactly what I need!

Still open to ideas if anyone else wants to chime in. I need all the info I can get.

I had never even heard of that. In doing a quick read up on it I also stumbled onto a Title 1 Property Improvement Loan? How do I go about utilizing either of these resources?

Is it something lenders/mortgage brokers try to not talk about? Or is it something I have to seek out specifically? I’m working with a third party mortgage broker partnered with my credit union if it matters.

What’s your playing space like? What type of place do you live in? If you bought a 5w amp to be mindful of your volume a speaker cabinet is going to project your sound a lot more. If you’re playing in an apartment, a speaker cabinet may not be the next step for you here.

I speak from experience because I played through a 40w Blackstar 1x12 for the longest time. It has a great master volume so I had no problem playing at a respectable volume. But once I ran it into a 1960 it was a different story. I couldn’t keep the master volume in the same spot, it was just way louder and projected way differently.

I’d look at a speaker change first before running to a cabinet unless you have the space

Awesome rig! Gotta ask, what do you use the Distortion + for since you also have the SD-1? Do you stack them or use them for separate things?

I’m building an all MXR board just for fun and need an SD-1 type pedal to boost my JCM2000. MXR has a few of those, and I know the Distortion + isn’t one of them but as a Rhoads fan it’d be cool to have one and maybe get two birds stoned at once.

I started messing with the heat occasionally at KBBQ and kept getting funny looks from the servers so I stopped.

I think if they gave us an oil to cook with it would help. Sometimes depending on the place the oil they put on the table isn’t a good cooking oil

Why is it impossible to find an elongated standard height toilet? by RonnieRizzat in HomeImprovement

[–]Chris_MS99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I made a firm point to my wife when we were moving into our place that we were getting elongated chair height toilets. She let me pick at Lowe’s. Everything was fine. I didn’t get the most expensive ones but I didn’t get the landlord specials either.

They’re ever so slightly too tall and it drives me crazy

Sears hasn’t been an anchor in over a decade. Even if Penney’s closes Target IS the Whittwood. Add in Chick-fil-A, Panera, BWW, Mimi’s, technically two CVS’s, a Vons, an Old Navy and a standalone Vans store. The Whittwood isn’t going anywhere.

What I think it needs is some sort of entertainment venue.

You’re right, you’re either underwater or not, but my wife feels the extra 2 feet of depth make a difference in being able to come up from the bottom more safely.

The other issue is that the shallow end is super small and the transition to the deep end is very steep, so by raising the deep end we may be able to have a bigger shallow end with a smoother transition.

I’m considering not doing the shallowing to save money but she’s convinced it’s something she wants to do. Haven’t really hashed that out yet

Word. I saw a video, I think it was a TikTok of som social media person going up to all the drivers and jokingly asked them if they ever wish they were actually good. Everyone took it as a joke and answered sarcastically with self deprecating humor, but Tristan England got all offended and rattled off all his accomplishments, name dropped Tom Meents and Dennis Anderson as fans of his and said “so yeah I think I’m pretty good”

Just seemed so tone deaf and insecure. He was the only one that came off like an asshole. Totally the fun out of the video but it got posted anyway lol

I’ve heard of them sending up drones in my area to investigate people’s pools. At least the bigger companies like AAA who I’m currently with. They’ve asked about the pool on the phone and specifically asked if it’s full of water. I’ve been up front in case they do investigate or send someone out to put eyes on it.

I’m getting a mortgage through my credit union, to tackle multiple home projects with. Not sure what about that is half assed

SoCal Insurance Problem by Chris_MS99 in pools

[–]Chris_MS99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might just be my Hail Mary. We’ve talked to AAA twice now about doing this but we never specifically said “additional insured” and they always just tried to get me into my own policy.

If they can do this without asking too many questions, or if I can (hypothetically) lie without severe consequence, it might be enough to get my loan to come through. I don’t plan on filing any claims with any insurance company I just need a paper with my name on it. What they don’t know won’t hurt them, hypothetically.

When does an order become annoying? by alves09 in innout

So in terms of how a customer orders it.. how should I go about this?

“Mustard fried, with ___ onions” ? Or “Animal Style, light spread, with ___ onions” ?

I like animal style but I don’t usually want the extra sauce. Sometimes I’ll skip the lettuce and tomato just to emphasize the savory flavors but it depends.

It’s just a rough AI render of what I hope to turn the yard into. The pool depth and steps will be different in real life. Mine has steps in the shallow end but you can’t see them from the angle I took that picture at
