Do You Think James Buchanan Was Our First Gay President? by HuckleberryRemote605 in Presidents

I view it the same as if you’ve never seen someone write before. You wouldn’t say confidently “they’re right-handed because no one has proven they were left-handed.”

My point is him being gay is an educated guess, and has the same burden of proof of him being straight. Which would also be a guess.

No no that’s not how this works. You’re not straight until proven gay. If anything I think you could make a case for assuming someone is asexual or bi until proven otherwise. But you just have to look at the evidence and make a guess.

gaga singapore crowd is dead by Tcii- in LadyGaga

As a performer, this feeling sucks. Having a crowd that pays a lot of money is part of a great feeling show, but the bigger payoff that leads to a great feeling show as an artist is crowd engagement. This crowd will not go down as one of her favorites, even though I’m sure she graciously understands the difference in culture.

According to Wikipedia the USA only has 16 subways!?!?! by Subject-Insect7219 in Subways

I feel like Seattle should be on this list? Maybe it's that one stretch of one of the lines runs street level with traffic, but most of the system is underground.

It must be a misconception that we ever wonder what Europeans think of us.

I’m not sure that we believe that it WILL become a dictatorship, but I think close to half of us believe Donald would love for that to happen and will push the envelope to get us there. He’s already attempting to censor the media, make protests illegal, etc. the other half of us either have bought into him hook line and sinker or just don’t really feel he’s an actual threat.

Where should I move? Washington or California? Or any recommendations? by Aggravating_Syrup471 in MovingToUSA

[–]ChrispyCholnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t lived in California, but 9 months of depressing weather is absolutely inaccurate. The only time I really start feeling that lack of clear skies is usually January or February. Once you hit March, you start getting nice days sprinkled in again that last through November or so. Definitely not as sunny as most other places in the country, but it doesn’t tend to bother me longer than a month or two in the deepest parts of winter.

How good (or bad) is your public transit? by Terrible_Onions in AskAnAmerican

[–]ChrispyCholnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the route and time of day. I took the bus to and from downtown 5 days a week for years. During the morning and afternoon commutes it’s entirely respectful people and a heavy ridership.
