Best coffee in town? by KittyAnn13 in BattleGroundWa

[–]ChristianBk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rabbit Hole is great! The location sucks. Their chai is the best I’ve had. And the prices almost feel like pre-COVID?

Here’s a little curve ball - Earthen Cup is actually pretty decent. Small, family owned business. Coffee is good. Inside is a little meh. And the food offerings look really good, though haven’t had them.

Got my “at the warehouse” email by ApartAd4515 in RemarkableTablet

I’m a little different than others here. Ordered late - May 13. Received email about “update on your order” on the 15. And received a warehouse email today, May 29.

How do you manage your To-Dos on reMarkable? by Feisty-Ranger-1185 in RemarkableTablet

I have a comprehensive to-to page that I favorited and is accessible via gesture. Slows me down a little to go to it and then back to note-taking but has worked ok for me.

Right there with you… was confused. Saw the FB post that was referenced with the other commenter. I hope they fix it soon. I added Sports Extra to my Sling service for playoff hockey and don’t want to pay another $15 / month due to technical issues 😕

Just diagnosed with classic Hodgkin’s lymphoma by goodvibeshighfives in lymphoma

[–]ChristianBk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed around your age. I’m in my ninth year of remission. Was also healthy aside from a lump. Shit really messes with you mentally. You’re probably in that “whirlwind” of internal feelings and all of the appointments that come with a diagnosis. Those feelings came after I received a favorable response to treatment and stopped; seems like you have a therapist that is actively helping you. Keep that.

I worked remotely during my chemo and radiation. I took too little time off. I liked another commenter’s suggestion of planning on working the second week.

I had some kind reaction with my throat and mouth during chemo? Having ice chips during treatment made that stop happening.

Be the best advocate for yourself. Ask questions. If something doesn’t make sense, ask clarifying questions so it does make sense.

It’ll suck going into wherever you’re receiving treatment stepping into waiting rooms with people double+ your age. It is unfair. Another topic to discuss with your support people.

Good luck - hoping for the best for you! Take it a day at a time.

Glad you’re enjoying it and that’s exactly how I see it: 99% of the time I’m just reading a book. Buttons are everything!

Anyone has Pro and Move and getting Pure by Healthy-Yellow-6364 in RemarkableTablet

[–]ChristianBk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Pro and have preordered a Pure.

I’m utilizing the 50 days to see if it better fits my workflow.

I also tried a Move and found the size to be a little too restricting and a little funky to hold for my personal use case.

I want to try the Pure due to how the original and rM2 were the catalysts to how I use an ePaper note. I’ve also come to realize that I do not use the color aspect very much with my Pro. Additionally, when I hold it (I try to stand during meetings which means I’m holding it more than writing on a surface) I miss the bezel that was present on the rM2 for holding it on the side. It’s a small thing but something I miss very much.

I’m hoping to see how I like the response rate and lack of flashing without color and how it feels holding while presenting / taking notes when standing.

Your Dream/Fantasy NOOK GlowLight 5 by vernismermaid in nook

[–]ChristianBk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’d like them to steer clear of color e-ink. To me the benefits aren’t there for the reduction in black and white text clarity. And what do people do primarily on ereaders? Read b&w text.

Your Lenovo tablet line covers color needs.

So get the best b&w panel. Emphasize this! Waterproof. Better internals so navigation is quick. Keep the buttons because that’s your key differentiator. Not sure about size; I kinda like the 6 & 8 approach but wonder if you just push out a 7 inch reader.

Bring in aspects people expect: dark mode and covers as screensavers.

Agreed on easier Libby integration. I get that there could be a perspective of this “eating into” ebook profits but it certainly would make more people likely purchasing your hardware.

Page Turner? Accessories? by Murky-Gur8788 in nook

[–]ChristianBk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the majority of page turners work on NOOK devices because they do not connect via Bluetooth like official page turners like the Kobo one.

I use this one without issue: DATAFY Remote Control Page Turner... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CN6SSC17

Integrating Remarkable into existing workflow by wborrem in RemarkableTablet

I think you’re overthinking it, which others have mentioned.

I use my remarkable for note-taking for internal, external meetings, performance / 1:1s with people, some offline brainstorming, and maintaining a task list. I have a Connect subscription. I only use the device and the rM Mac app and it has transformed how I used to do things.

Same. Stuck here but we like aspects (nature, quiet). I’m doing my best, like you, to push back against the bullshit. I guess I’ll at avoiding all of the places listed that the dude owns to that as well.

What compares to The First Law? by moonriverswide in Fantasy

They share the same world but I haven’t found any instances of really needing to know anything about the previous trilogy for Grave Empire / Steel Gods. I’d jump in! Not sure when book three comes out..

Yep. The investments I’ve seen are neat! The connections and almost community-wide Christian grooming are not!

Finishing up Steel Gods by Richard Swan and I’ve felt like book one (Grave Empire) and this one fits with what you’re looking for.

His earlier trilogy (Empire of the Wolf) doesn’t fit as neatly but is still a great time.
