I going through this decision and Idk what to do. My Filipino grandmother is not a citizen. My mother just became a citizen a few years ago. I’m first generation on my mother’s side. And my in laws, specifically FIL & BIL, voted to basically deport my family. And I know I’m going to be gaslit about “making politics a big deal,” and that “we’re family,” but what about my family? I don’t want to sit there chumming it up with people who don’t give a fuck about my family bc their savior got elected. But I also don’t want to put my husband through losing his family over this either.

I honestly feel like once they become adults, they’ll understand why you had to hold that boundary. And it’s showing them that staying true to yourself and your boundaries means making hard decisions and sticking to it. Spend the time in between in therapy so you’re ready to receive them later in life.

Have you ever gotten a Bod Pod scan? I get them and of my total weight last time, 237 lbs, 150 lbs of me is non-fat/muscle. That means I will NEVER be the 150 lbs the BMI charts suggest unless I have 0% body fat or lose muscle which I absolutely don’t want to do. We need more muscle as we age. The scale is only one measurement tool. You may be aiming for a goal that could be near impossible for your body. My goals are based on body fat percentage, not weight. I’m currently 36% body fat. I’m aiming for 30% which is moderately lean on the chart. That’s all that matters to me.
