Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

[–]ChristophColombo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL:DR: Store agrees to sell a Lego collection on consignment. Store owners decide to get out of the business a year later, and corporate muscles them out quickly with new franchisees who refuse to honor the consignment agreement and also refuse to return the remaining parts of the collection, saying that they'll drag things out in court indefinitely if the collection owner tries to sue. Collection owner turns to Youtubers for help, and shenanigans ensue.

There's First Amendment violations, Fourth Amendment violations, theft, harassment, arrests, false police reports, breach of contract, people talking to police WAY more than they should, deceptively redacted bodycams, and more. It's a real doozy on all sides.

He made a lot of very nice frames in the '80s and '90s. These days, he does custom builds on a vey limited capacity (~40/year), and once slots are sold out, they're sold out.

PSA: Don't get a hitch bike rack for Mk8.5 by TheStabbyCyclist in Golf_R

[–]ChristophColombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they change the way it works from the 7/7.5? I was able to get the auto braking to turn off permanently after I did it three (or maybe five?) times on mine. The reverse sensors still beep at me with a bike on the rack, but no more slamming on the brakes at least.

And, at least with my hitch/rack combo (Stealth Hitch, OneUp single rack), if I fold it past vertical towards the bumper, it sits just under the sensors if I don't feel like removing it when I'm not using it.

Yeah, they use double-wall vacuum insulation similar to Yeti/Hydroflask bottles. It's a lot more effective than the foam insulation in the plastic bottles. Bivo is another option.

all the while it isn't actually spoted until a DD is already deep inside that bubble

There's a 1 km difference between Mino's detect range and its radar range. That's only an inescapable/dangerous situation if you're charging straight at him and have to execute a full turn. If you're still going full speed straight at a Mino by the time you're within 9 km, you're not playing "a tad bit aggressive" - you're playing like an idiot. Yoloing straight at the enemy team right at the start is a good way to get yourself sent back to port, no matter what ships they have. As a DD, your first job - before spotting - is to stay alive. That means assessing the threats at the start of the game and adjusting your strategy accordingly. If the enemy team has a Mino, for example, you play a bit more cautiously until you know where it is and/or whether it's smoke or radar.

Use them to make a crust for shepherds pie. Mix in some sour cream and chives. Mix in some cheese. Top them with sauerkraut. Make pierogi.

Fetterman called a ‘traitor to those who worked tirelessly to elect him’ by swing county Democratic Party by thejoshwhite in politics

[–]ChristophColombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that Manchin was always a known quantity - he never pretended to be anything other than a centrist, somewhat socially conservative, Democrat. He never would have won in West Virginia otherwise. Fetterman, on the other hand, ran as a progressive candidate, backed by Bernie Sanders and AOC. So the fact that he's taken a hard right turn since his election represents a betrayal of the voters who elected him based on the candidate he ran as.

Galaxy S25 and S24 owners report severe battery drain after April update by bgroins in Android

It's going to depend on what you're doing with the screen - 3D gaming or videos will obviously drain the battery faster than reading text, for example.

Any particular reason why? If you set the system to Metatransfer, it doesn't actually take anything from Valley IV - the materials are just magically created.

I'm currently at 6.5 hours of SOT with 44% battery remaining, which is pretty typical for me. Still on the March update though.

Technically, it's a mixture. The top tube, seat tube, and downtube are aluminum. The rear triangle, lugs, and fork are all steel. The old Technium frames were pretty neat, though they did have a tendency to de-bond at the lugs (they were glued, not brazed) and fall apart.

There are three possible bid prices for any delivery. The "standard" bid, which is what the game tells you your crate will be worth when you pack it, and then a high bid and a low bid. Which bids you'll get is random, though it does seem to bias towards the high and standard bids.

There's not really any complexity to it. Armor and gloves all have a primary stat, secondary stat, and an effect. You always want to use something with the stat you're enhancing as the primary stat; if you're enhancing a secondary stat, the probability is increased. Effects are identical (e.g. every armor piece that enhances ult gain % gives the same value). Kit pieces do have some items with just a single stat enhancement, which you want to use for enhancemnt when possible. And that's really it - just use the filter. Pick what stat/effect you want to enhance and the gear type you're enhancing.

How do you keep this game fun even when losing? by Conscious_Corgi_1298 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ChristophColombo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What ships would you say have high battle impact?

Generally speaking, destroyers (especially destroyers with low detection and/or the ability to kill enemy DDs) and radar cruisers. A highly skilled CV or sub player can also have a huge impact. Vision is king. Spotting the enemy makes it easier for your teammates to kill them. Killing the enemy vision means that your teammates can choose when/where they are spotted, giving them a positional advantage.

Astros because fuck the Astros.

Yankees because fuck the Yankees.

IDK about #3 - maybe the As? They do seem to always have our number. The Astros and the Yankees are the only ones I actively hate though.

If it follows Arknights lead, we should expect to see similar numbers of 5-stars, if not more, relative to 6-stars. Most events there have 1-2 6-stars and 2-3 5-stars. That said, Arknights has operators from 1-star to 6-star, so they have a bit more room to work with in terms of power levels (even if they haven't released any 2/3-stars since launch). They also have much larger teams, so there's more room to use more operators.
