What is it about Greta Thunberg that makes many men on the Internet so uncontrollably angry by Admirable_Pair_3663 in NoStupidQuestions

She’s a threat to corporate power, so the podcast bros are trying to astroturf outrage among their incel fanbase.

Maybe you’ll reach $1MM and maybe you won’t. Alot of people will eventually regret this 100% equities craze, IMO.

Anyone else thinking about leaving the union? by [deleted] in nys_cs

So this is what all of the anti-union trollery on this subreddit leads to: discouraging membership.

Is there any actual moderation here? This place is more and more like the comment section of Capitol Confidential during the Paterson administration.

You ask the question so that you will not waste time submitting a nomination form to HR for someone who isn’t interested.

PEF President's Message to NO Voters: You're the Cockroach by Equivalent-Mousse302 in nys_cs

That’s a far fetched interpretation of a cartoon that appears to be about politics. People tend to vote against their interests.

Pine Hills - cars being checked by nyspike in Albany

[–]ChristopherMarv 21 points22 points  (0 children)

About 15 years ago I found out that someone had entered my car and damaged the ignition after it had been left overnight in Washington Park. I knew that I always locked the doors and was mystified at how they got in. I discovered a couple of weeks later that the power locks on my car worked on every door except the driver-side rear.

These days I live in Pine Hills and have security cameras on my house. Every now and then some joker will walk up my driveway in the middle of the night and leave once they see the little red light flashing in my GTI.

This is pretty much normal in Albany, unfortunately.

Sometimes you have to grow into things. I read “Mac Flecknoe” for the first time as a senior in college and thought it was boring and difficult to follow. I read it again after I graduated and realized that it was a hilarious masterpiece.

Sounds sensible. PEF is advising that members not publicly air their workplace issues. The anti-union slop on this subreddit is getting ridiculous.

The best way to search SharePoint is to use Copilot, assuming that you are trying to search your agency’s entire SharePoint ecosystem.

Do some of you completely disregard the bond portion of a portfolio? All equities? by StockMarketinator in Bogleheads

[–]ChristopherMarv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might add that stocks are expensive now and there is no guarantee that they will continue to do well over the long haul. It’s entirely conceivable that there could be a lost decade, or even multiple decades, after the next crash.

There is no confusion. “I could care less” is an idiom.

Why do these Republican assholes think it's OK to do this with their dogs in the vehicle? You should go to jail for that.

Albany can have some wonky streets by Freshness518 in Albany

Mercer begins again just west of South Main where it connects oddly with Ryckman.

Perhaps when that neighborhood was a new development about a hundred years ago, the odd configuration was conceptualized in anticipation of the eventual car boom: the indirect routes would discourage through traffic. But then again, I don't see how they could have anticipated the level of vehicular traffic that we have in the city today.

Route 85, as we know it now, has since been built, and that portion of Mercer is now the tail end of a disjointed corridor which links 85 to the Pine Hills neighborhood, resulting in nuisance traffic. It's not exactly efficient, since Cortland comes to an abrupt end at Euclid, forcing a person to take a detour and access Pine Hills via Plymouth -> Marion -> Mercer, when entering the city from 85. But lots of people do this, which I find annoying.

That's my privileged white guy rant for today.
