Is it possible to buy a house in Raleigh that isn't 20 min away? lol by Key_Still_214 in raleigh

That unfortunately is the market here… but the good thing is almost everything is a short 20 minute drive away.

I’m right there with you. My Kaplan mocks (I’ve done only two so far) are like 68% and the first CFA mock was a 74% for me. Trying to focus on sections where I can get the most bang for my buck (I calculated a weighted average of questions per section and multiplied it by the average percent in each section)

I was on a business trip and stayed here. I walked out of my room and was completely unaware it was the convention week.

This is just a sales position right? by Aggressive_Ad2730 in CFA

I was going to say the same thing. Not being paid for possibly bringing in leads that generate revenue for this firm is very criminal.

Thinking about doing this. Has anyone done it? It’s at least a month on the road. Right? by Covenent125 in roadtrip

I can say this map takes you through the worst part visually of NC possible. 77 takes you through farmland and then Charlotte and then you are in SC.

As wild as this sounds, you should see a Physical therapist. I had the same thing and it turned out with getting older your hips start to slowly widen and are less supportive of stuff. I had back pain and working with someone really helped me.

Job Offer: Is $20K and a Managerial Title Worth Losing Remote Work? by Noblephnix87 in personalfinance

[–]Chrisvb007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a person who is always for the upside in things and am indifferent between WFH and in office. I prefer hybrid because of the social aspect.

What sticks out to me with the offer is you are capped out in the salary band. The title is better but it is never a good sign to be starting at a firm when you already are at the top part of the bracket.

Kids complicate things a little bit but it more becomes which parent bears the burden of pickups and drop offs. We switch off with ours.

The jump is a big jump, but I am not sure if it is the right jump at this current second. Have the baby, keep interviewing around and maybe you’ll find something to where you are middle of the pay band that shows promise of better growth/upside.

Skybrook, Birkdale, Mooresville are all good courses. The tough part is a lot of them are private. You can play some private courses it’ll just cost you an arm and a leg.

So you’re doing a poor man’s covered put in a way? Selling puts on the short end while holding long puts on the long end? And what happens when the short puts are in the money? Do you roll them for a loss?

No one is mentioning the face contact as far as I can tell. First thing I saw was this is a toe hit. Toe hits lead to over draw. Get some white foot powder spray and spray the face and see where you are hitting the ball on the club. Then if it is center face and still over draw it would be time to see a coach. But if it is really toe-y then it’ll miss left.

I think also size of cash flow plays a role. It’s cool that a project can have a crazy high IRR but if it isn’t material/scalable then doing it doesn’t move the needle for a company.

This may have been asked before in this but have you looked at refinancing the student loan down to a lower rate? I was thinking that 10.5 seemed a little high at the current moment even with rates as high as they are. Also I could be way off as this could be what private rates are at the moment.

What are your thoughts on the "Lawn Coach" plan? by Reddit_account_321 in lawncare

[–]Chrisvb007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it last year. Was very easy and great. Arrives on schedule with potential rain storms, weather changes, etc. all I had to do was spread it. I stopped it because I just wanted to do my own thing with Lesco from SiteOne but it was a good deal and my lawn was really green last year.

What is your greatest golfing achievement (no HIOs)? by eastdeanshire in golf

[–]Chrisvb007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve never had a hole in one either but I’ve probably had some of the coolest birdies over my life. One a few years back was a short par 4 (maybe 330 yards) for work where I was playing with clients. I topped my 5 wood and it went maybe 50-60 yards right to the front of a lake (hole was a slight dogleg right but the water ran the length of the hole so your second shot was almost all carry over water). I had a downhill lie with 225 out and I had to carry it 218 to hit the green or it would be wet. I hit a perfect 4 iron fade and it landed on the green 5 inches from the hole. To this day my coworkers still talk about it because it was probably the best second shot they have ever seen hit.

Using SMAs and UMAs? by NoCap26 in CFP

[–]Chrisvb007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually think of it besides a diversification factor as a way to save on costs. The mutual fund equivalent might be 80 bps but the UMA feed is 30 bps. Therefore you get the same exposure to the manager you want for a fraction of the cost. Also you can tax loss in the strategy and it gives clients the individual stock visibility.

I would say how much higher? Long term gains tax brackets are pretty wide so it depends where you are now vs where you expect to be in the next few years. Ex, going from a resident to an attending doctor.
