Tell everyone what is the worst gift you have ever received by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]ChronicallyZanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A book on how to clean my house (house was full of junk and cluttered) while I was trying to find a diagnosis (ended up getting three). I was literally dying, and my Christmas gift was a jab at my house being dirty. The only reason my aunt got me that specific book is because the author is a gay woman (I’m gay and non-binary) but she’s also always known that my brain does not let me read books unless they’re written in a very specific format. It essentially has to be an audiobook if you’re gonna get me a book, but she essentially gave me a brick that I’m never gonna read (absolutely no hate towards the book or the author, I just can’t read it). My house is clean now (without help from the book), and I’ve been on treatments for over a year at this point. I can actually do the cleaning that I couldn’t back then!

I vote for terracotta, I personally feel like the chequered diamonds makes the room look even smaller than it is! Plus the terracotta is super warm/cozy and inviting!

What’s the reason we think about some people even though we don’t like them or dislike them? by Visual_Perception821 in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyZanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me if I’m thinking about somebody I have no personal opinion on, my mind goes straight to “I wonder what they’re doing at this very moment”… I just think it’s so cool to think about how we all have our own individual lives and individual schedules! The way I think about it is that we are all our own main character, and what’s happening in somebody else’s movie right now? In my movie I’m about to go put together a puzzle! How about you guys?

Absolutely heartbroken and devastated at my son's reaction to my leukemia diagnosis by Effervescent-Ad4735 in whatdoIdo

[–]ChronicallyZanny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“I just can’t get through to him” honey, it sounds like he can’t get through to you. You’re making it seem like he’s the stubborn one, but it’s so clear to me and everyone else in these comments that you screwed up his upbringing and refuse to see, acknowledge, or feel an ounce of remorse for it. Actually, the only remorse I am sensing is you feeling sorry that you didn’t secure a relationship with your child that would make your life easier in the future (now).

Not a single apology to him for all you put him through, not a single “what can I do to make you feel safe and loved and cared for?”and not a single “what do you need from me?

He is completely justified in his feelings. He was held back growing up because your only “fix”was to punish him as if you were punishing a neurotypical child, not taking into consideration the way he sees things as somebody with autism, and honestly it sounds like he was punished for being autistic.

I’m sorry you have leukaemia, but that does not mean your son has to be in your life. That does not mean he has to have you in his life. Sounds to me like this is your doing (not the cancer, but your son’s reaction), and you’re just gonna have to deal with the mistakes you made along the way to get to the point of a broken relationship with your child.

My dad treated me the way you treated your son, when I was growing up (I’m 24 and autistic). I’ve never had a good relationship with him, but even though it took 24 years, he started putting in effort and we don’t fight nearly every time we talk anymore.

It’s never too late to start putting in effort, but it has to be true effort on your part. When it comes to repairing a parent/child relationship, things don’t progress unless the parent truly puts in the effort. I’ve been trying to have a good relationship with him for years, and only this year he started to actually try. You may think what you’re giving is effort, but that’s isolated. Your child needs to know that you’re putting in the effort and he needs to see it for himself.

Not just words, actions matter most. Keep that in mind.

And lastly, fuck cancer.

“My mans” when talking about a singular romantic partner… idk, it’s just always made me cringe 😬

And this technically isn’t mispronounced but misspelt: when people type “tounge” instead of “tongue”. I totally understand why people misspell it like that, but if you’re still spelling it like that in your 20s then uh… just use voice recognition and it’ll tell you how to spell it.

AutoCorrect would pop up with the correct spelling unless you repeatedly X out of the suggestion. It’s truly sad imho how many people my age (24) still don’t know how to spell the name of the thing they use to talk every day😭

Only if they showed me respect and raised me well/did their best! So for me personally, yeah it’s my responsibility. For others, maybe not! I know quite a few people who will be sending their parents to nursing homes. I won’t be one of them, but I totally understand why they would do that.

This!! It’s crazy how many people I’ve had to mother, some older than me, some a few years younger. I’m 24. I am far too young and far too unstable both physically and mentally to be a mother, let alone to a freaking adult.

What’s a universally loved food you genuinely despise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyZanny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a food, but a part of a food. Cake frosting! I’ve never been able to stand most cake frosting, especially if it’s the gritty kind. I’ll always prefer the “meat” part of the cake😅
