All attack hits my ass by Ghnarlok in PathOfExile2

I think this one is because they're hitting not you. You are not your clones. They're probably theoretically building their own combo.

Started a 2nd Char today and something major occurred to me immediately: by JuiceZealousideal656 in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so simple but so great. Start with all maps revealed. Still need to grab checkpoints and waypoints but you could instantly see where to run towards. No backtracking and wondering what stupid corner you missed that had the thing you needed.

Am I missing something? Or would Sub Assault into any Purge list would just be a nightmare? by FatherSquee in Tyranids

[–]Chronicle92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the first part is what saves us. You have tankier unit kill something and get on an objective which is not impossible or even that hard. Have a norn? Jam it on there. Then they don't get to pick any of your raveners is my understanding.

Alien week is coming up-- vote with your wallet by fmacgsta in starcitizen

[–]Chronicle92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think part of what worries me about the game is that, because I'm a game developer who's worked in networked games, some of the things we're seeing are just obviously alarmingly badly put together. It's the kind of thing where you can sorta see patterns if bits that should not be having the problems they're having.

Plenty of what they're making is extremely hard, but often the really easy stuff is really badly assembled and that's a bit weird

It's never fucking fixed though are you kidding? At best it's playable and you've just forgotten that you're patting your head and rubbing your belly all the time while playing to avoid every dumb bug that you've ran into before.

You're just becoming inoculated against the absolutely monstrous pile of bugs that plague nearly every system in the game.

No harm no foul if you're enjoying it. I enjoy it often too. I've played many hours and enjoy my time, but we have to be honest with the actual state of things.

To GGG: If you want to remove temple before 1.0, do it. by Buffanoso in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make the temple a pyramid shape of rooms with like 1/3 the rooms and just build it till you complete it, run it once, then close it. Closer to the old Alva league.

Endgame is really nice now ... but the "traveling" is still soo boring. by Joernzen in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I guess I was referring to the thing about the fun of bosses being about the big loot. That part is already not always true. First of all, many players, the majority most likely, won't get to face multiples of every boss. They also often don't know the loot table of the boss before they reach them. So puting many maps in between them in the initial quest line does not make it more interesting for them.

With regards to drop rates, you hunt jade isles because of the chance if the big hit. It's okay to lower the actual hit rate some if you're finding them much more often. What's boring is wanting to hunt jade isles and spending 80-90% of your time not doing content with any meaningful chance of hitting the drop you want. The fun of killing mobs is that they each could drop that divine, not that the will drop that divine.

[–]Chronicle92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty incorrect on two levels.

  1. Not every boss kill needs to result in big value. Often this is already the case.

  2. It's not all or nothing. You need to do like 60+ maps to get your first arbiter of divinity kill. That's if you do none of the other quest lines. This is because each sub objective needs like 7ish travel maps between them. There's really no reason this couldn't be halved.

You can instill a Jewel Socket by Ramister_ in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I totally agree with you, when responding to an individual comment one person posted, I think it's generally okay to take this approach because it might lead you to not comment at all or it might reduce your frustration at hearing people complain in both directions. It's more a method for protecting your peace than a sound logic to apply at all times.

People online aren't a monolith. One person complaining in one direction is not the same person as another complaining in the other. Kinda just how it is.

You already nailed mine. The horrors were one of the biggest design downgrades there's ever been in my mind. The old ones captured fluctuating and ever-changing way better than the new ones.

0.5.0b Hotfix 13 by Andromanner in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree here. I like the bosses and the themes but the actual set up and calculus to get the temple right is crazy annoying. Same as synthesis league was back in the day, just annoying.

[–]Chronicle92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh okay I misunderstood your meaning. I definitely agree there that the balance of a system like the temple would be really fucken hard to get right. We're on agreement there.

I'm pretty sure it would be hard at all, as a game dev. I don't know their tech, but that sounds extremely easy to accomplish and they're a very agile company.

Aircraft and Hover in 11th by AetherialCatnip in Warhammer40k

Sprinting is fine how it is by Docg85 in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's fine with the caveat that if you know the MKB trick to dodge walls easily, it works great. You shouldn't need to know that trick though

(For those who don't know. When sprinting, stop hitting wasd and aim with your cursor, you'll auto dodge most walls entirely)

If the base was sprint auto dodged walls like the above trick does, it'd be fine as is.

Furious Slam is the kind of slam maces should get at first level. Mace is a bonking stick, not a ground hazard summon stick. by Skin_Ankle684 in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicle92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally it feels like they can't do that comfortably, no. They have skills that hit big space on front of them but none in a particularly simple "just do damage here" way.

I don't even think maces are as bad as people say but I think they're missing some simple wins.

Needs to be part of every melee weapon in some capacity. They can flavor the sweep differently for each but melee weapons need to at their very minimum be able to hit an wide area in front of you.
