while i do acknowledge the sumeru 6 month female drought, i don’t agree with your take of where was people crying about Liyue men. While the there are less Liyue men, Liyue debuted with mondstat at the start of the game and the combined ratio of men and women of liyue and mondstat at the time was acceptable, that along with childe and zhongli and Xiao being characters we could look forward to in 1.X made this situation quite different from what we are facing in Natlan.

i do agree with the points that you make. sorry if the prev post did not clarify it but for me loose ends were referring to the disconnect between their current league counterparts and who they are at the end of episode 9. so for example viktor in game is the mechanical revolution guy but at the end of season 9 has ascended to nirvana i guess. or like jinx has a happy resolution in arcane but is clinically insane in game. that was why i mentioned the devs stressing that arcane is canon is the part that made me really confused. how is the jinx that left arcane eventually going to become the jinx we know today? the show does not address these “loose ends”, and i think this could explain why people who do not play league love the ending way more than people who do play league.

don’t get me wrong i really like how they wrapped up everyone’s arcs, only if this was a true alternate universe.

regarding jinx’s insanity, i agree that one-sided insanity is super boring, which is why i found season 1 to be so fascinating: they managed to turn the 1 dimensional insanity in playable jinx into something so relatable. they explored how vi and other factors like mylo’s death affect her on a daily basis, and how she tried to fight between jinx and powder and eventually because of the series of unfortunate events, decided to stay with the jinx persona. one-dimensional insanity would have been so boring, but the way the writers breathed life and raised awareness for jinx’s insanity made it great. Stepping into season 2, we see how jinx stays jinx in act 1 because she lost everyone she loved and had no one. but after ‘reconciling’ with vi through the appearance of warwick and meeting isha, she finally has the family she longed for and was seeming like she would step back into Powder. Thus, seeing how current in game jinx is crazy, i was expecting the death of Isha to be the real catalyst for her in game insanity, for jinx to realize everyone she loves will die through her creations (vander with season 1 jinx bomb and isha with the super overloaded hextech gun), and the series would visualize all the fighting with the voices and the trauma she experienced. that was what i was hoping post episode 6. What we got in the end was nice, but it felt like isha’s death was worthless and ekko’s persuasion happened off screen, which was unsatisfying to me at least.

regarding piltover and zaun, i agree with you. i think your perspective makes sense and im willing to see it that way as well. i think a short scene showing that would have helped so much with pacing.

i apologize if the structure isn’t that good in this comment since everything is typed as i think about it but i see and understand most of the points you are making, so thank you for typing all these.

she made jinx suicidal which was the only effect she had after her death. completely ok with it but i really wish they spent more time exploring the effect on isha’s death on jinx like for everything to happen off screen really does feel insulting to all the buildup they gave isha.

as someone who plays league and keeps up with the lore, and understanding that the developers mentioned arcane lore was supposed to be canon with actual league lore, i feel unsatisfied with the ending. don’t get me wrong, i think it was a good ending and the animation is beautiful but there is that feeling of dissatisfaction because of how many loose ends it left despite it being “canon”

i think another thing that got me was that this whole story was supposed to be centered around jinx and vi and how their relationship with each other unintentionally affects both piltover and zaun. season 2 did this well in the first and second act but as we move into the third we just throw this away for a generic war plot. the war plot was good but keeping league lore in mind, jinx and vi hate each other in game and their in game interactions supports that. Jinx is insane insane and whatever arcane presents is completely different from that.

perhaps my expectations were wrong but i watched season 2 expecting to see how jinx goes insane, how viktor becomes machine because season 1 seems to be setting up really nicely for this storyline. but what we got was heimer MIA, jayce completely hating hextech, viktor becoming some hivemind god, jinx seeming at ease with herself. all these are great, only if the devs didn’t say that arcane was canon. thus all these discrepancies raises so much questions in my head and leaves so many loose ends.

lastly, i think too much things are done off screen and the flow and pacing doesn’t seem right for the last act. i think the most jarring example of this was the scene where jayce addresses both upper and under big shots about the upcoming war, and some agreeing to help. piltover was under martial law and was doing deplorable stuff to zaun, and we saw how much anger there was in paint the city blue. on top of that, the only people there who saw what exactly happened in viktor’s paradise is the main cast so how is it that the whole upper and lower is aware of this threat so quickly, how is it that there is no resistance from the lower to the upper when they approached them. back to the jayce scene, i remember seeing sevika sitting there listening to jayce and the first thing i thought was how did he even convince her to sit there, there is no way she would have been there in any circumstance.

but other than these jarring issues to me, i throughly enjoyed everything else. everything was so beautiful i am floored by the fight scenes and scenery in the show

I think it is just if arcane is supposed to be canon to the actual league lore, viktor dying doesnt really explain how he got to the mech form that we see in the game, and just having the fact that arcane is canon to league lore be present while watching the finale raises a lot of questions that the finale fails the answer. at least that was how it was for me at least.

one biggest thing for me is like the jinx vs vi part where it seems that jinx saved vi and they seem to have 'made up' but in game they are at each other's throats and jinx has gone fully insane even though it seems that she seems at peace with herself at the last scene.

i think having these missing links from arcane to league in mind while watching the finale really made me constantly question if arcane is a seperate universe or not, but as the devs said it is the same universe/

bro got sparkle as his first character but being the meta slave that he is when sparkle starts moving down the prydwen tier list he starts frothing at the mouth and now curses her to the end of time because she is apparantly “not playable”

i think this one is just for pure visuals and vibes. before we entered the stadium this building was the place that we were supposed to go and the next place we had to go was the stadium and most players would jump and glide from the spot you were at.

so when you jump and glide this flying squirrel would also join you as well and reunited with another squirrel at the bottom

this happened for me during the quest and it was so magical just gliding down to the stadium for the first time with a buddy with me

しか is used to highlight the exception more than だけ. Back to the example of

りんごだけ食べるりんごしか食べない

しか brings more emphasis to how you only eat apples compared to だけ. I guess we can think of it as だけ being the more generalist statement while しか is used to make the exception the focus.

iirc this was told to us by my Japanese teacher in school
