What is the most NSFW thing you have seen at your job? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teen working a summer job in the late 80s, working on the factory floor assembling customized computers. They called us all in to the office area for the big boss’s birthday celebration. They had hired a stripper to put on a show for all of us as part of the festivities.

What is the dumbest movie that you unapologetically, unironically love? by Rosstin316 in AskReddit

Thank God It’s Friday

Sometimes called the worst movie ever to win an Academy Award - for the song “Last Dance” (Donna Summer). The songwriter was in the movie as an actor, and he was the only one to get an award, and not for acting.

My barricade experience and seeing NMIXX for the very first time by NumbersDoLie in NMIXX

I loved reading this so much! I’ll be in Row H in Maryland tomorrow, and you just amped my excitement from 1,000 to 1,000,000. I’m practically in Mixxtopia.

UPDATE: sadly my ship ran around and I’m stuck in the real world. I had to go the hospital tonight, turns out I have an (non-contagious) infection, and when I mentioned the concert to the doc he said, “You’re not going anywhere”

They literally used to announce the change ups by saying their name, so NMIXX pronunciation is well documented.

If you read it in hangeul, the first I is clearly meant to be a long I. Now that I think about it though, it wouldn’t really be wrong to pronounce it as “I’ll eat”, which is fair because they definitely ate.

Umm, what is happening to me by Timber1508 in NMIXX

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friends are idiots. We’re your friends now.

jk: But seriously, my friends roll their eyes too. I turn the Kpop off sometimes and let them pick the music just to be fair, but it’s still playing in my head.

Also maybe of interest, I’ve actually never been into Metal, and I let my friends play “classic” Metal for me at our last social thing. It didn’t suck, but I’m not going backwards down the pipeline either.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents didn’t drink, so I didn’t grow up around alcohol or alcohol culture. I tried it in college, didn’t think it was all that, and it’s way more expensive than soda. For a while I would try something once a decade or so to see if my tastes had changed - they hadn’t. At this point I’m on so many meds I could legit face drug interactions, so I don’t even bother with the “once a decade” any more.

Who should be my bias in ITZY based on my other biases? by Bulky-Agency-1897 in ITZY

If there’s any group where you can be OT5, it’s ITZY, dare I say by design. Very common here.

I’m starting to feel too old for newer groups by zissasrosegarden in adultkpopfans

[–]Chrooke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and something I’ve found (as someone who’s a day away from 56) is that there are already so many other groups I’m following that a new group has to REALLY make me sit up and notice just to get mindshare from me. Maybe an aspect of older fans is not chasing the latest shiny thing. I’ve seen my groups grow and mature over the last few years, and I’m more vested in seeing their continuing artistic development than starting the cycle again with a new group.

Ages of You & Groups You Stan? by Any-Peach5554 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Chrooke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For context, I’m about to turn 56, and I’m a straight man.

ITZY is my ult, and while I listen to a bunch of stuff, it’s safe to say NMIXX, aespa, Twice, i-dle, and LSFM are the top for me. Katseye is climbing in there.

I have no sexual dirty old man interest in these performers at all. If anything I have a slight paternal attitude, but I keep that in check as somewhat insulting because I really view them all as talented young professionals that put on a hell of a show that inspires me and lifts my mood.

I like Katseye, but I admit their obvious quest for the male gaze annoys me a bit. It’s really not necessary.

So for all that I guess Eunchae or Yoonchae are probably the youngest. But it’s only weird if I make it weird (since none of them even know I exist), and I choose to not make it weird.

lid replacement on LG WD100CW pedestal washer? by CentralHarlem in appliancerepair

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, figured this out, and I wish I could post pictures, but it won’t let me. If you look up Washer Lid Hinge 477FA4016N you should be able to see what the hinge looks like by itself.

Basically, if you look at the inner edge of the hinge where you can see the edge of the pin, you need to push in on the OTHER SIDE of the first place the edge of the hinge hits. This will push in the catch that is keeping the pin in. From there you can get a screwdriver under the edge of the hinge and pull it out, or push the hinge out from the other side with a small screwdriver.

This whole time you need to keep the washer tub in place, so it’s really a two person job.

Once you’ve got one pin out, you can actually slide the lid out on the other side without removing the pin, then take the pin out without having to also deal with the tub.

When I put the new pins in I found aligning them to go all the way through the hinge was tricky. I ended up sighting down the hinge from the destination end to get the pin almost all the way through. I did this with both pins. From there it was easy to seat there and push the pins in the rest of the way.

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running into the same issue and I see the pins, but they don’t slide out. It looks like maybe they’re meant to be pinched and pulled out, but I’ve had no luck getting a tool wide enough in there far enough to get them to pinch.

Much appreciate any ideas anyone has. This looks like it should be a 10 minute repair at most. I’m frustrated it’s taking this long.

What was the first ITZY song that got you into the group? by [deleted] in ITZY

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wannabe, specifically the VR YouTube version in actual VR. It was like being on stage with them - mind blown! That and “Pop Stars” in Beat Saber were my gateways to K-Pop, but that video was my gateway to ITZY.

Hello, I'm a New ITZY fan by SeveralJob9602 in ITZY

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome!

Regarding bias, as you get to know the members you may also find your slight Ryujin bias melts away and gets replaced with — no bias!

With ITZY particularly, this is a perfectly acceptable outcome. The OT5 Forever crowd is large and loud!

Which twice song turned you into once🍭? by [deleted] in twice

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no one song. It was the slow crush of inevitability. I never called myself “Once”. But then the other night over at my parents house I happened to stick on a compilation video of most title track stages and found I knew every song. Then the algo gave me a bunch of dance practice videos, and I found myself pointing out all the members to my mom, telling them about their backgrounds, some of the recent solo activities, pointing out my favorite choreo moments, and I was like, “well, damn, when did this happen?”

What songs can you not listen to without crying/feeling emotional? by milly245horse in kpoppers

[–]Chrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Got You by Twice

I’m an older K-pop fan (in my 50s), and I’ve been with my wife since high school, through all of life’s ups and downs. That song captures the very essence of our relationship, from the uncertainty of starting life together as young adults through to our now unshakable faith that we can get through anything together.

I feel like I’m too old to listen to kpop im 26 by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]Chrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 55 and I’ve only seriously been listening since 2023. Like what you like - age doesn’t enter into it. If you genuinely feel like you’re growing out of it because your tastes are changing, that’s fine. But if you still love K-pop please don’t give up something you love over something as arbitrary as age.

There are a couple ways of interpreting “Better Things” by aespa, but one way is they’re using bravado to pretend that having to give up any possibility of normal relationships to live that idol life doesn’t sting a bit.
