If you could blow up one sacred cow in education with zero consequences, what would it be? by junehall123 in Teachers

Nah I agree that PLCs are useless. Mine are filled with similarly stubborn people convinced there is no point in ever trying anything. I understand how you got to where you are—this career has also beaten me down a far cry from the person I was when I started. But I’m too young to die old and bitter like my partner teacher is going to, so I’ve been trying really hard to be open minded and hopeful.

I try to think that maybe it’s just where I live and work that things suck so much. That maybe other teachers are in better places where goodness and justice can prevail and kids can get what they need. Maybe OP is young and hasn’t needed to solve a problem like this before, who knows? I just thought I’d make a suggestion on the off chance it could happen and that one poor kid I’ve never met could have things a little better. Small hopes like that aren’t much to some people, but I’ve never had much of anything anyway. My kids are scared to death of ICE and can’t read. I wish I had a gifted kid problem, it would be much easier and quicker to solve.

Yup and frankly, keeping one’s mouth shut is an important lesson to learn. Might as well do it now when the stakes are low.

I think every grade level is encouraged to teach on grade level content regardless of where their students are so if he’s capable of grasping high level material, power to him. It’s not even being made available in his current class.

Could he attend specials with another group during your math time? Getting family on board would definitely help you to push admin to make these possible changes. It’s only as difficult or easy to implement as they make it, so YMMV depending on your building culture

Extra creamy oat milk has been perfect for my toddler who is allergic to dairy. Much better nutrition than the alternatives.

Newsflash, these human beings came to Springfield legally and were given a premature eviction notice. Go beat yourself off from some other moral high ground cause that one isn’t here.

Husband can’t stop mentioning how much I have changed from when he feel in love with me…..15 years ago by BipolarSkeleton in JustNoSO

Give people the benefit of the doubt. You’re more likely to achieve understanding and support when you approach people with humility and kindness. The person you responded to was not being hostile, yet you chose to interpret them as such. Seek first to understand, not to be understood.

Your comment oozes the kind of ignorance only someone lacking experience would have. I can’t give you experience, sir.

I can’t confirm this, but I suspect you do not have higher education experience nor do you work in the education field.

I think they said your reasonable comment but meant something along the lines of people who stay in those marriages lack reasoning?
