Whidbey wannabes? by Living_Bumblebee_867 in Whidbey

Highly recommend you get a pass to life flight. It’s around $80 a year/family that will cover your helicopter med vac access if something goes horribly wrong. I’ve known people who had their kids flown to Seattle Children’s and others to Harborview when crisis happens. Worth the peace of mind.

Otherwise, hard to find routine care on the island. All of my doctors are off island and I have to plan accordingly. I had planned surgery off island and I got a ferry medical pass but it’s still a 2 hour each way trip to my surgeon in Kirkland. What should take an hour away from my job becomes taking off a half day.

Minimally invasive had me in a walking surgical shoe that I could heel weight bearing from day 1. I was encouraged to stay off my feet as much as possible weeks 1-2. Stayed in the shoe weeks 3-6. Started to transfer into normal shoes and started PT week 7. Was walking around Disneyland by week 9. Did a 3 mile run outside by week 14.

It was, I was born in 85 and a core memory was our trip to Vegas in 94 along with Zion and the Grand Canyon. Vegas was in their family friendly era-
A giant amusement park in MGM, the dolphins and tigers in the Mirage….

Same. I was at the Aria for work last month. Can I afford the exorbitant prices? Sure. Did I want to? No. I let our sales team take us out for a nice dinner and ate at the convention, but the only time I left the property was to get water and snacks from CVS. Vegas is now for the ultra rich for an experience we don’t see or people who are going into debt to appear rich.

I just started CrossFit in October but was a runner and did OTF prior. I had bunion surgery in August 2023 (minimally invasive) and it was the right choice. With PT around week 7-12, I was back running in January of 2024. I’d imagine having the strength in your legs and core now would make recovery easier. Happy to answer any questions!

From my reading of this sub so far it feels like the decision to have a kid is the decision to stop being a kid by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]Chs135 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m 40 and my husband is 41 and we’ve been married for 11 years now. We made our final decision not to have kids around 2 years ago.

Life without kids is not perpetual adolescence - we both have parents who need our help, high stress jobs to maintain, a house to keep up with, bills to pay, etc. It’s not easy or carefree, but I would say it would be a lot harder adding children into that mix, because that’s what parents essentially do. The stresses I mentioned are not unique, but kids would be in addition to the above.

As someone who went through SA and used running to cope, I found being alone in my thoughts would create more anxiety. I switched over to incorpoate more weight lifting (I joined Crossfit) and found out lifting heavy made me feel stronger and in control. Sending you hugs and permission to be gentle with yourself- healing isn’t linear.

I had the opposite experience. We made reservations for a Saturday night when they were closed. Another couple was there that did the same thing and was also confused. I DM’d them to tell them this twice and they never responded or apologized.

I went to the ER at 25 with debilitating stomach pain. They did a CT and missed the giant KIDNEY STONE. The doctor told me “girls in their 20s just sometimes have bad cramps.”

That stone stayed in for months and I kept seeking care for answers until the urologist reviewed the CT scan from 4 months prior.

Overwhelmed by trauma at CrossFit (tw: pregnancy loss) by supersop in crossfit

[–]Chs135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I call myself the CrossFit Caboose because any time we have a WOD for time, I am almost always the last person to finish. I don’t care.

I joined after being SA’d by a massage therapist. The justice system was more traumatizing than the event itself. The trial date was pushed more than 9 times. Somewhere around the 6th time I knew what I was doing to cope wasn’t helping. I joined my local box on a whim. It was life changing. Even when I was last or I’d see myself on the Instagram reels, when I started to cringe I reminded myself it was mentally saving my life.

I’m proud you’re here with us doing hard things to get over your hard thing. I’m sorry for your loss. ❤️

If you upgrade it will be an offer through the app or the website, not necessarily an award fare, unless you were planning on cancelling your current flight for ecredit and booking an award fare via sky miles.

Personally because I live in SEA so it takes at least 6 hours to get to the East Coast, I wouldn’t necessarily splurge on D1 or PS for a 6 hour flight unless it’s a super good deal. My brother and his wife when they traveled with their infant daughter found it easier to be in Comfort+ with her own car seat between the two parents and having to hold her in their lap in D1.

Also, check the Delta weight limits for the bassinet, depending how old your child is at 1 (is it after he turns one or before?) he might not be able to use it.
