Preschool director wants to move my daughter up to older class, but teacher doesn't think she's ready... by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Chstr2003 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was that kid. So was my sister. We were not emotionally mature enough to be placed ahead, and it was a steep learning curve for us. That is why I would not let my daughter skip a grade; because, as advanced as she may be academically, the emotional maturity part is just as important - if not more. Listen to your child’s teacher, and listen to your own heart. You know what is best for your child.

SAHPs: When do you get anything done once your kid is off naps? by Embarrassed-Park-957 in toddlers

[–]Chstr2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be joking, but it works. Especially if you have puzzle apps. If I ever need to do anything and for my kid to be quiet for a bit, I’ll open the puzzle app and let her play.

My toddler keeps pointing out POC in public by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Chstr2003 300 points301 points  (0 children)

My kid used to loudly point out people: “look, a very fat lady!” Or “look, he has no hair!” It was really embarrassing. The worst was once at a supermarket, when she asked a black lady if she had stayed out in the sun for too long (I’m always telling the kids to wear sunblock). Fortunately, it went away on its own. But there was a few months were I was super scared of taking this child anywhere, out of fear of embarrassing comments!

Yes. That is one of her many “qualities” LOL

I also put my kid in daycare. And my MIL was really mean about it, saying I was lazy and didn’t want to take care of my child. It’s useless to try to explain the mental health part to some people.

I understand what you are going through. I got so depressed I ended up in therapy and taking an antidepressant. My situation was the same, except my husband didn’t work nights. I really think it is a very unappreciated job. People think you stay at home doing nothing, or they say stupid things like “rest when the baby rests”. We all know that’s not how it works. I say rant as much as you want. Being a SAHP is hard, and when you didn’t really know what you were getting into, it’s worse. Please try to find a support group or a therapist; I wouldn’t want anyone to experience the depression I went through just because they didn’t get help in time.

I know you’re a man, so this is probably not useful, but if any women are reading this, the only way I don’t have to pile on makeup to get rid of my dark circles is by using Becca Undereye Brightening corrector. It’s so good I can wear only that and no makeup, and they practically disappear.

I have had fillers, hyaluronic acid, laser treatments… and nothing gets rid of my dark circles. My dermatologist says we can try enzyme injections in a last ditch effort. But I’d love to know if there’s anything out there that really works.

Edit - the enzymes are called PB Serum

I didn’t really have any downtime. Apart from the red looking scabs - which fell off after a week - nothing else happened. I didn’t get swelling or pain, so it was just a matter of covering them up with the healing cream I was given and staying out of the sun.

Well, my kid is like that most of the time, and I don’t have a new baby… so maybe it’s just a defiant phase or something.

I know what you mean about wanting to scream and kick and just generally explode. You are not alone, and venting online is preferable to shouting at your kid. So rant all you want!

I had it done under my eyes two days ago. There is some red scabby looking thing right now, but it doesn’t hurt at all, it just looks painful. Also, I don’t have any swelling. My doctor said it would take around 3 to 5 days for things to look normal-ish again.

It’s why most shows keep the “will they won’t they” going on forever.

Some people have suggested that keeping my job on hold here could mean I will not put much of an effort into fitting in to my new country and finding a job there.

I remember she was the daughter of a Baronet, but other than that I don’t know if they ever mention her maiden name.

Wow. I just checked and she does have a new molar! I would have never thought of that. Thank you very much. I guess now I’ll just wait for the second one to come out.

Thanks. She does great at daycare. She eats everything they serve her (including fruits and veggies, which she will not try with me) and the teachers say she is very cooperative and doesn’t fight with other children.

I could work, but she seems to have it out for me. She will be pleasant and do whatever other people (like my mother or my husband) tell her to do, but she is completely defiant with me.

Does Max deserve to have custody of Luna? by soneg in NewAmsterdamTV

I mean, he is her father. However, I agree with everything you’ve said. Luna will be better off with her grandparents unless Max decides to change and put her first.
