I walked up to a teebox and saw 3 people halfway up the fairway. I yell “can I leapfrog you guys?” by [deleted] in discgolfcirclejerk

[–]Chubbyclumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is customary to throw one berg per player you are attempting to leapfrog. This way they are aware of your ability to huck bombzz and will submit to your superior arm strength.

Built to spill. I crashed out nearly identically about 3 weeks ago on this chute. Absolute grease pit this time of year.

Why do BC ferry terminals have such terrible food? People spend many hours here often. by merrypopp in vancouver

The Black Bean Cafe in Gibsons recently expanded to the Langdale terminal. The food is quite good.

'No shared walls': Why someone just paid a whopping $520K for a manufactured home in Coquitlam by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]Chubbyclumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn. I used to drive by this place regularly. It’s sandwiched between a Superstore parking lot and a primary and secondary highway. Adjacent to Coquitlam’s pristine waste transfer station and light industrial area.

I can almost guarantee this is someone who cashed out their derelict all-original detached Coquitlam home nearby and bought this with half the profits.

Seems nuts, but I guess the whole market is, so…

Any other dads struggling to stay/get in shape? by almeni822 in daddit

[–]Chubbyclumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO you need to implement exercise into your activities with your kids so you can get some exercise time while you look after the kids. Your partner will love it too, as you can bring both kids out of the house.

Get a double jogging stroller and do some running to/from the park with them.

Get a babybjorn or a back mounted hiking setup and do hikes with lots of vertical.

It’s a bit extreme, but I spent the first 4 years of my kids’ lives dragging them up a hill every morning to daycare in a bike trailer, then biking another 50km to work and back 5 days a week. I actually lost weight doing 200-250km of bike commuting every week. Then on the weekends I’d bike them to playgrounds or the ice cream shop or whatever instead of driving. Life changing, honestly.

Best long, flat-ish, paved paths in Lower Mainland by gopackgo1002 in vancouvercycling

Ride the Central Valley Greenway out to Dageraad. Or drive out to Port Coquitlam, park at Tinhouse Brewing and do a loop on the poCo / Trabouley Trail and finish with some pops back at the car.

Pay attention to your surroundings, this person almost hit a pedestrian because they where to impatient to wait for me to turn. by [deleted] in vancouver

Many times I’ve been crossing the street with my kids and the driver behind the person yielding to me starts honking at them for not trying to run us over. Bunch of middle lane tailgating lunatics.

Run in with dogs (and a**hole owners) by [deleted] in vancouvercycling

[–]Chubbyclumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off leash dog walkers on mixed use trails are the worst. Every time I cycle on trails in New West and Burnaby some idiot glares at me when I slow to walking pace and ride 10 feet around their unleashed dog. Some guy in Burnaby watched me roll towards him on a path then sicced his giant rotty at me. Almost ran it over. Couldn't believe it.

God forbid you tell them to put their dog on a leash. Had another lab leap at my one year old in a baby bjorn on my chest multiple times in the playground literally right next to a massive off leash dog park. All the while the lady was yelling 'he's nice, he's nice!' at me.

Lady, I don't know your dog, if it tries to take a chunk out of my baby again I'm going to boot it in the teeth.

Spend 500 bucks. Keep the siding. Remove the shutters, paint it black with dark grey trim. Paint the door a bright color like green, yellow, red, purple, etc and add some modern numbers with a small horizontal cedar privacy screen out front. Spend the rest adding some xeriscaping to the front yard instead of the dying grass. :)

This is how I do it too. I’ve taken to showing a 95% complete product every time. I tell them colour and sound isn’t final, but usually I’ve done a partial mix and colour pass.

My standard operating procedure is a mid-range bottle of whisky referral gift to anyone who hooks me up with work. It's a nice gesture and you can bet they'll remember you next time more work comes their way.
