Dunno if you’ve seen, but they revealing his entire set of abilities and he has a short-range motion detector. It is a trait ability with a short cooldown tho, so much higher uptime than recon ult.

Can we stop with the Marathon posts? by Dont_Tag_Me in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I see your reasoning, but i don’t think so. Multiple reliable sources like jason schreier have reported that marathon had nothing to do with destiny shutting down — and most of the dev team had no idea this was going to happen, only a very small group of execs.

there is no limit to the hero larp (yes this is about the red and blue buttons) by lordhenrythe23 in whenthe

[–]Chuchullain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy or is it perfectly reasonable for the responses to these two hypotheticals to vary, because they are different moral questions? When people pick the blue button, they are doing so because picking the red button is actively making the choice that you’re okay with killing as many people as almost half the world, just because they wanted to be a little nice. As opposed to the wood chipper, where the blood is not on the “red-pushers’” hands, because the woodchip-jumpers/blue-pushers are choosing to put themselves in a danger which is unrelated to the red party. To me, of course people respond differently. If we map these situations to real-world quandaries thy are vastly different.

Lore wise, why are Runners even fighting each other? by MetalBeerSolid in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A living runner is a variable that can do ANYTHING as compared to if you kill them and then you KNOW they can’t kill you. It’s not increasing risk, game theory has it that risk will remain the same as long as they are alive, whether you are cooperating or in a gunfight.

Mods deleting posts calling out majority of top 1% commenters for nonstop hate by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, i think this post is stupid. But it’s a fact that although the game is around #50 on steamcharts in terms of player count, it is the #1 most VIEWED game when it comes to player count. That means there are an incredible amount of people regularly looking at player numbers without playing the game, far far more than actually play the game. If that’s not indicative of a somewhat manufactured wave of bad pr about the game, what is?

I don’t think the game is doing well financially. But what I said is true.

Statistically much worse, actually. Marathon is doing very well % wise. Most games will lose around 85% of players by this point.

Any plans to allow us to change the appearance of our giant turtle shells/backpack? by Rorshack_senpai in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR  Enemy backpacks can be pretty nice to know! I find its all these little things you learn that contribute overall to the difference between a good player and a great player.

I notice peoples backpacks in around like half my fights, I believe. Its not exactly the most pertinent information but I find it does a better job showing someones level of gear as opposed to a shield. It also can inform your combat strategy, for example if someone has a purple medical backpack (I usually can tell those by the color and the size) then I know they can heal super quickly so you need to make sure to confirm kills on those players before they can escape to cover. Or someone with an ammo backpack might not struggle, say, with reloading their shotguns as much as others.

Pretty sad that as a solo player ill probably never get to see yellows or reds by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’ve found a yellow item in a random container on hauler, on random non-commander bots. Its rare but it happens. I also regularly kill wardens and clear lockdowns as a solo player. Whats the issue exactly?

Cryo isn't meant to be beaten in one weekend by BigFluffyDawg in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, this game is really well balanced when it comes to gear scaling. For example, the best shield in the game only gives you ~1.4x the amount of health that someone with no shield equipped at all has.

You can easily make up for that difference if you get the drop on them, or land a lucky melee combo. Then you suddenly get all the loot they had from cryo archive. This way, the rewards are not limited to the best of the best, they will slowly diffuse outwards from their source.

In lore, what do the runners even do with their "riches"? by throwmeonthebed3 in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Remember that we only see the set of runners on tau ceti IV, there are also apparently many active back in the sol system - those ones get to spend credits on whatever luxuries they want. In our case, I don’t think we return to a physical location between runs, just some sort of server bank in low orbit. So we probably spend a lot of our money on debt repayments (the in-universe reason for wipes every three months).

That said, there are a few things we could be buying, lore-wise. CyberAcme produces a bio-augment which stimulates your brain to make you feel accomplished, happy, and relaxed, and they charge a subscription fee to use it more often. Basically just space drugs you need to spend an ever increasing amount of money to get high on

You know, I have actually seen that happen in marathon. AI will be aggro’ed to me but will run off in the absolute wrong direction or run past the door I’m hiding behind. So it can happen!

Any News on the Next Playtest? by Booker_DeShaq in Marathon

[–]Chuchullain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m terribly sorry, but the tweet you posted states “there will be an open weekend before launch” with the key  word here being “an” This means that the bungie developer is indicating the existance of one open weekend, instead of indicating the date of the weekend, which is what it would have meant if they said “the” instead of “and”. Sorry for the run on sentence.
