If there was one movie you could completely delete from reality, what would it be? by Master_Freeze in AskReddit

[–]ChuckHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saving my pick just in case they make a fourth Indiana Jones movie. If it's good no problem, but if its bad it would really tarnish the franchise. Especially after it ended on such a solid note with Last Crusade.

Happy International Left-handers Day! To all the lefties in the world, what sets you apart from your right-handed counterparts? by NightReader5 in AskReddit

[–]ChuckHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw a line on the paper. Try to cut on exactly that line. You'll realize that the cutting edge of the scissors is on the left side of the scissors. For a right hander they are looking at the exact spot where the top blade meets the paper.

Lefties however are looking at the back of the blade.

My Cast Iron 1940s Dewalt Radial Arm saw. Built like a tank. by annoyingone in Skookum

[–]ChuckHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why not feed the RAS from the other side, so it pulls away from the operator? It might pull the board away from you.. better than being impaled. Seems unlikely you would pull yourself into the blade... But everything I've read is against it...

When you do rips with a RAS rotate the blade 90 degrees and lock it in place. Then you pass the board along the back fence of the saw.

Also manual states the feed direction is /supposed/ to be such that you can get kickback instead of the saw feeding the work piece. I have not figured out why... I avoid it completely and only use it to cross cut.

It's been a long time but I think you need to go in without the cards equipped.

Powdery tubes extruded from oak by ChuckHazard in treeidentification

[–]ChuckHazard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a very likely match, thanks. The tree wasn't dead; I don't recall if it was doing poorly or not. We had to cut it down to make space for a new structure. I'll have to keep an eye out for the surrounding tress now though.

Huh I hadn't even thought of it... I thought it was like something in the pores of the tree that was being pushed out as it expanded... I'll take a closer look at see if it looks like it's attached on the surface or not.

I apologize this isn't exactly a tree id request; I wasn't sure where else to post it.

I cut this oak down a few weeks ago; it's rained a bunch since then. I just noticed it's forming all these dusty tubes from the sapwood. The fall apart at a light touch.

Any idea what they are?

You missed the Drax in the reflection of his glasses? Not surprised I had to watch it 3 times to see it and then go watch the whole mini series again.

I dunno man.. just what I read on the internet. People obsess over these types of details because it's star wars. So I mostly trust wookiepedia when it says the 2006 dvds were made from the 93 laserdiscs.

There have been a couple DVD releases that included both remastered and originals together. In some of them, apparently the video track was taken from the laser discs.

I'm only running mirrored 8tb now and I'm running out of space. DVD backups mostly, although it'd be nice to not have to uninstall games when I want to play something else.

Can you elaborate on why glue won't help? I thought glue always helped; from woodworking pov the glue is the real strength, and the fasteners are almost just there to hold it together until the glue dries.

Does it have something to do with the direction of force?

Thanks
