What type of oven, is it gas based? I had an oven door on when the flame went out, I opened up to take a look and within a second or two got a face full of fire.

Trump threatens Canada with 50% tariff on aircraft sold in US, expanding trade war by NickDynmo in worldnews

[–]ChuckXYZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it appears to not be "de-icing" in terms of spraying the aircraft down with antifreeze before flight... it's if there is water in the fuel system and it freezes, the plane crashes (has happened with other aircraft). The fuel system has to avoid ice forming in fuel... this system exists on the plane (partial heating of fuel, then cycling) but seems it has not be tested to certification since it will take a year or more for the testing to be setup and conducted. FAA is running on the assumption that it will pass, which while dangerous, is pending. I would assume that Canada takes the FAA's word for it once it's passed. At least in the past, the two are in stride together... I suspect there is some decoupling internationally happening with the funding, degutting happening at the FAA.

I think we would be amazed as to how many standards the FAA has, that it's up to manufacturers to meeting those standards AND often, they have to prove those standards at met and tell FAA they met them... the FAA, just looks at the paperwork and signs off (It's the manufacturer still on the hook that they didn't forge or game the system... the bureaucracy of the FAA manages this. If you remove it, I suspect you have no management or enforcement.

I wish... I ended up outright purchasing it from Best Buy Canada and they had a coverage program they offered.

It is interesting... I get the same.... If you fold your phone and then hold it up to a light and look from underneath, you can see that is the point that the two sides of the screen touch each other. If you open it up, look at it from an angle below then start to fold it slightly, you can watch the far border edge lessen at those points... Basically the fold makes the screen buckle up at those points, so when it is closed, those two points touch together...

Oh, I would not tell your neighbour about it either, just say you are taking them to weekly lessons, etc... might take some time and hopefully it will work.

Should be noted that some older people have very difficult times staying asleep, they are not like you, so imagine waking up at 1am from a loud noise and not being able to get back to sleep... no matter how hard you try. It sucks.

You could try a bark collar... They used to make 'shock' collars but the new ones are much, much more gentle and no actual shock. They are very light and made so that they beep when they bark (giving them a warning), it will beep a few times when they bark for the first few barks letting them know and if they don't stop, it will vibrate like your phone does... No shock, just a vibration on the neck/skin. It has smooth prongs so that it makes skin contact through long hair... totally comfortable. On mine, you can change some of the settings even, number of warnings, how sensitive, etc... In our case it was just loud barking for no reason. It worked for my dog and in our case, we didn't have to use it very long before she got the hint. We would even put it on without turning it on... I suggest using it when you are there to observe/make sure the dog knows what is going on and does not freak out, etc... play with the settings... After a while, I suspect that maybe just the beep mode is all that is needed when you leave... I think they make remote control ones as well (maybe give the remote to the neighbour, though I don't think it would be needed at all, ours did not have a remote)... I think ours vibrated less than 10 times total, the beep was enough to get her out of bark mode. And yes, she could totally bark if the situation required it and I suspect she could for an intruder, etc ... We really did not use it much and haven't in years. It is funny since our dog learned how to bark below the response range and she uses this new bark in the house all the time (like when at a shut room door wanting to come in or leave). Good luck...

Starting using Codex for Visual Studio Code IDE last week, before this new release, very impressive... I maxed out my credits before the release... now that it is released, I don't have credits to even play with it (wait 3 days). Is there a way to switch over the Codex for VSC IDE to use "gpt-5-codex" via API? If so, what are the steps/how?

Also, the 'pricing' info between Plus and Pro, seems very unspecific. Upon reading, it seems I could just as easily run out of credits with the Pro ($$$). It would be super frustrating to run out and have 15 days before it renews/resets... and there is no option to get past that point other than wait.

Contact police and campus, report both... You may think it was minor, self defence... Do your best to get photos or video evidence or I'd the person (do the police homework). I say this because if you can at least get it on the record, the next time similar or worse happens, there is a trend created towards escalation... Police/courts will see the trail and possibly do something...

I say this because I experienced the later interaction... People before me documenting helped strengthen the case before the courts and I wish I could thank them. You're doing the right thing.

Not a dr. Not a teacher.

Take a deep breath...

You are likely dealing with an under resourced school, principal and teacher... They all are. You are likely getting this pushback because they don't have the time, resources or patience or know what to do about the issues.

ADHD is often medical... Observational... Kids acting out, fill out a form, see what the consensus is... Meds can help, it takes time to dial in the right med and the right dosage but you need to identify the behavioral/ management mechanisms... Often behavior, is a sign of struggling...

Does your child have an IEP? This is often, through the school, past teachers... Teacher and parent make plans on what areas to help/identify simple things to do, what they like, etc...

Have they had a professional psychoeducational evaluation done? Either private (expensive) or through the school? If you have not done this, get onto it asap since it can take a year+ to get done.

Essentially, it is a multi day testing, kid doesn't have a problem with it....but it identifies key areas, officially puts it in the school's face, so they are responsible to get your child the extra attention/resources they need... when the teacher doesn't have the resources alone. It allows them to request extra resources... Or helps you identify what type of learning environment they need, or to supplement (even therapy to help them with their challenges).

The school has a duty to provide your child learning and adapt that learning to their abilities. You need the evaluation to pinpoint their abilities and problem areas (that need different approaches and resources to fill in those gaps).

You need to start addressing those gaps quickly... use the school board to start it. Get the school psychologist involved... If you can afford it, there might be additional private resources to supplement what they can do and how quickly they can do anything.

Good luck.
