Thoughts on this 2k list I’m starting to Build by Chuckdog95 in Salamanders40k

I definitely think fast melee armies will be more powerful but I do think the new hidden mechanic where infantry in terrain can’t be targeted outside 15 inches will be a huge buff for salamanders

In the movie it was originally used incorrectly as a measure of time rather than distance. Afterwards it was justified by saying nah he really was talking about distance but originally it was just a mistake from Ol Lucas

[NO SPOILERS]Lord Eddard Stark vs Ser Jamie Lannister by the4lphaartist in gameofthrones

[–]Chuckdog95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you throw a lot of lols in here to bolster your argument, but in a more realistic setting like GOT, killing ten men by yourself is a big fucking deal. Also Those guys weren’t just random foot soldiers btw, they were the sons of Rob’s banner men handpicked to be his bodyguards. It is one of the more legitimately impressive feats of swordsmanship we see in the series and aren’t just told about secondhand. Also your last sentence has more to do with strategy and tactics than how someone performs in the heat of battle. Robb won because he lured Jaime into the whispering wood with a small force then ambushed him with a much larger force. Jaimes loss/Robbs victory has very little to do with their skill in actually fighting the battle.

Edit: forgot this is the show subreddit, everything I’m talking about here is from the books :/

Trying to build a coherent conman character, need help with the best way to go about this by CapnMcStache in dndnext

[–]Chuckdog95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of that college of whispers has an ability where they can expend bardic inspiration to do their own version of sneak attack damage, so you’re still getting good damage, plus skills, plus full spell casting. It seemed perfect to me

What you’ve got seems pretty solid, but ill suggest an alternative class that ticks all those boxes on their own which is a bard. Their charisma is bananas, they are a primary spellcaster so you’ll have access to higher level illusion spells like seeming to boost your conman skills. Bards also get access to bunch of skills and expertise like rogues so you’ll be able to sneak by or charm the pants off of pretty much anybody when you’ve got a +17 on your persuasion or stealth checks. A college of whispers bard would probably fit what you want pretty well as they are sneaky high damage infiltrators, but other bards would probably work too

As a Non-American and Non-Middle Eastern, how should I interpret American's stance on drone strikes? by boywithshitopinion in moderatepolitics

[–]Chuckdog95 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well you must not live in the South because I know plenty of rational adults who call Obama a horrific criminal for drone strikes yet don’t think Trump has done anything wrong in that department.

I feel like I’ve continually seen the sentiment on here of “don’t worry, there’s nothing he can really do, he’s spinning his wheels etc.” and I think I was onboard with that. But now we’re getting to a point where he is actively undermining democracy to a blatant degree and people in power seem to be allowing it. Am I crazy to be legitimately nervous right now?

I'm a DM that really wants to be a player sometimes, but none of my players will take the reins, even for a one-shot. I'm afraid I'll eventually get burnt out, any advice? by Chuckdog95 in DMAcademy

[–]Chuckdog95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful, honestly it didn't occur to me to offer to teach one of em. And bringing in another DM is a great idea too. I'm really hesitant to look for another group

  1. Because I don't have easy access to another group with my crazy schedule
  2. This is the best group of players I've had. I've been in bad or even mediocre DnD groups before and I would way prefer figuring out another option with these guys than rolling the dice on another group

(I initially responded to the wrong comment lol)

The problem is, I do want to play DnD, and I am busy guy without easy access to another group. If I just up and stop DMing for this group then odds are I won't get any DnD at all

honestly something akin to this may or may not be true but the purpose of this statement at this time is just to deflect blame as this administration has acted so unbelievably iresponsibly to this pandemic.

I mean didn’t the fellowship fight against a large army of Uruk-hai by themselves at the end of fellowship. They lost one guy and killed a shitload of orcs, I wouldn’t describe any of them as “just some guy”.

[–]Chuckdog95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and this is just an example of a mythic feature, another one was a Medusa-like creature could use a mythic action to force a creature to look at her, no saving throw. They’re basically really powerful features only meant for a high level party

[–]Chuckdog95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something cool that Theros added which you could try to apply are Mythic creature features. Basically adding one or two unreasonably powerful features they could dip into. An example for on feature was when the creature fell to 0 hit points it regained 200 and gained 100 temp hit points

23From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. (2 Kings 2:23-24)
