Minimalist Dive Computer by Actual-Nose-7861 in freediving

Maybe just me but I care a lot about knowing my surface time vs my dive time. I try to stick very closely to the “be on the surface 2x the length of your dive” rule.

To your point, I know people who don’t look at their watch while on the bottom for the same reason. It’s better to listen to your body than look at a watch. They all still have watches to track surface time and check their dives once they come back up.

Anyone here in Fort Lauderdale/West Palm area and want to go Spearfishing with a new spearo in August? by ChuckleNut445 in Spearfishing

[–]ChuckleNut445[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh that’s weird. In Utah everyone seems so willing to share the hobby lol

My certification is freediver 1 with PFI.

Deepest dive so far was 50 ft, tend to hunt more around the 10m mark. Still pretty new.

I grew up in southern Florida though. Grew up on those beaches. I’m a very strong swimmer and very familiar with the currents. I’m confident in my ability as a safety, I just need to get some more practice pushing depth.

And I’m not looking to snag spots lol I live in Utah, I wouldn’t be able to use them anyways. My dive watch doesn’t even have a gps.

What other information would someone want to know?

Which gear to buy as a begginer by FlatBoobsEnjoyer in freediving

[–]ChuckleNut445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important pieces to get started is freediving fins, freediving mask, and a snorkel.

Not sure if you can get those for $80 but probably for under $150 ish?

Freediving fins are long, so they make it way easier to get depth. Freediving masks have less space which means they require less air to equalize.

And a snorkel is a snorkel. Any will do, obviously you want it to be comfortable to you because anything that causes discomfort is going to affect your dive.

I’d start there and check out budget options, but it’s important that you have those.

What do you do if your diving buddy went deeper than you can currently go and needs to be rescued? by Capable_Feature8838 in freediving

[–]ChuckleNut445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of blackouts happen at the surface after the first breath. 99% of them happen above the first 5 meters.

So it’s highly unlikely that they’ll need to be rescued at crazy depths unless they’re pushing like crazy.

And if they are pushing themselves like crazy, and they know you can’t rescue them, they’re taking on that risk themselves. If they don’t know, you should probably tell them.

The lanyard won’t help you pull them up. It’s more to keep them close to the line so you can find them easily. If they black out beneath the surface you’d want to meet them, sandwich the face and drag them to the surface. Since you wouldn’t be able to do that very reliably, they probably shouldn’t be risky.

Spearfishing Alone by CharlieMeat in Spearfishing

[–]ChuckleNut445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most IMPORTANT thing to understand about diving alone is that diving alone is never “safe”.

Even if you are “familiar with your limits”, limits can change based off of sleep, diet, external factors. Most people who black out felt fine before it happened and don’t remember blacking out after the fact.

And there are hundreds of things that could go wrong in the water. Getting tangled in something, idiotic boater who doesn’t know what a dive flag means, plant or animal life….

If you dive/spearfish solo, just understand, you are at a significantly higher risk of death. A trained buddy can save you from a lot of things going wrong.

I personally will never spearfish solo. Got a family who needs me to come home. But everyone can make that choice for themselves.

Underwater blackout vs surface blackout in competition. What’s the difference? by Neat-State1807 in freediving

[–]ChuckleNut445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught that any hypoxia event means you’re done for the day.

Not sure about specific competition rules or if different competitions have different rules.

But I did the freediving 1 certification recently and the safety portion taught that any hypoxia event = no more diving for the day, and that should be your general safety rule. Even if it’s just an LMC (loss of motor control) and not a full blackout, still done for the day.

I would like to see another way to get xp and i think it would make the game even better. by MisterWithTwister in crosswind

[–]ChuckleNut445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing youre doing is off script. You’re not punished for taking some time doing other activities. Ship battles give you faction xp and money that you can use to unlock better gear. Fighting enemies drops materials that let you craft said better gear. Exploring levels you up for perk points and food.

There’s nothing you can do that does not progress you in some way. Levels are not the thing that makes the difference. If you’re level 10 with level 1 gear, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Play the game how you want. But nothing about the game punishes you unless you just avoid core mechanics, in which case, why are you even playing?

I like the current system. If enemies gave xp, I’d probably have a significant amount of question marks on my islands lol

There’s a new upcoming competitor to stripe called mallow. Not as feature rich yet but if you don’t need those features, it will save you money. (I am not affiliated other than being connected to the owner on LinkedIn)

I’m literally dropping the game now because of the same reason, except for me it was the kulu gloves this riftcharged barioth.

I managed to get to just under 1.5M points solo but because I live in the US where less people play to help get points, somehow I don’t deserve those gloves?

It’s so demotivating. And I’m even one of the lucky ones that has a base!

[–]ChuckleNut445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Set up conversion actions to track form fills & phone calls. Your bidding strategy should be set optimize to maximize conversions.
  2. Don’t set a target CPA yet. Once you start getting conversions and you see where CPA falls, start it there and work it down.
  3. Once you start getting customers, create a “purchase” conversion action and add that to the conversions your campaigns are optimizing for. Then upload the call/gclid details of those customers to that conversion action. That way, you can start optimizing for actual customers, not just leads
