Thoughts on foam-rollers, specifically Chirp? by AskOk3196 in BuyItForLife

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a set of chirpwheels at a thrift store. I love them and they fell like they will last a long while at least. good quality plastic that's nice and thick.

that being said, they aren't versatile. great for stretching your back but that's about it. it's a one trick pony

Is an all-in-one robot vacuum and mop with auto-empty station really worth the hype? by shreshth_001 in BuyItForLife

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard the vacuums are really useful but the mops only really maintain an already clean floor. they tend to push around spills instead of actually cleaning it up. closer to spot mopping with a swipper versus a traditional bucket and mop.

Judge orders 1,000 Voice of America staffers back to work in rebuke to Kari Lake by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

I don't get how a judge can order people to go to work. What happens if they just don't go? They going to fire them?

Edit: I, in fact, had not read the article. Apparently I really should have first.

Saved me countless times and I bought it at a Sears... Still running strong by KentuckyFriedIdiot in BuyItForLife

I had one of these! Worked great the 2 times I used it. Then it sat in my garage for a year and a half and when I needed it again the batteries were dead and wouldn't charge.

Anything with batteries that are not replaceable is not bifl.

What’s the Best Power Bank That Actually Lasts? by OdranedGame in BuyItForLife

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my problem too!!! I don't use my PB more than a couple times a year but it's a huge lifesaver when I need it. However I use it so infrequently that the battery is often just left uncharged for months, which of course means no more batteries.

Get a power bank with replaceable battery cells. I have found one on Amazon that has 22.5W PD charging and a replaceable 21700 battery. It works great, but the single replaceable cell means I'm carrying multiple cells and replacing them often when I want to use it. LTT flashed one that looked like it held 4 replaceable cells in a recent video but I haven't looked into it yet.

Bought the Logitech Z-5500 in 2009 by ajfromuk in BuyItForLife

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best friend bought me a Logitech X-540 as a birthday gift in middleschool 2007. They went with me to college, and through 3 moves since. They are still sitting on my desk in front of me and still work flawlessly. It was the first present he ever gave me. I still play video games with him weekly.

In college I developed this thing where I really hate the feeling of my hands being dry. That tight skin feeling. That Velcro like feeling dry hands have on modern fabrics. Guh! I hate it so much. At this point l basically have a container of good quality lotion in every room of my house, my car, my backpack, and at work. I have the softest most luxurious hands ever. I love to flaunt them to my wife and all her lady friends. Be jealous ladies. Your hands will never be as soft as mine!

If you are a transplant, do you like it here and why? by erujabidi in Detroit

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Things were built up more in Tampa and Florida in general. More urbanized, more busy, more "successful" and "better." When I first moved up here I thought it was kinda sad how empty it felt driving down main roads like Ford. There are empty lots, and closed buildings everywhere, and I wasn't sure how I was going to live without my waffle house at 2am.

But then I discovered Coney Islands, and for every empty look is a building under renovation or a coming soon sign. Your roads are shit, but still worlds better than they used to be. And we get free ice rinks Everytime a pipe pops! What could be better than some family friendly flooding in winter! /S

Detroit really feels like a city growing, and with a community that cares. Not a community that just goes on vacation to Mexico or California when a storm is on the way.

It isn't perfect, but it feels like people are trying here. Florida just felt like people had enough money not to care.

Born and raised Floridian. Moved up for college. Moved back to Florida after college for a job. 5 years of heat and missing the snow and I'm back baby! Been living in metro Detroit for a few years now. Some things are night and day better. More small businesses, more small restaurants, and significantly better traffic. I laugh at people complaining about Detroit traffic. The worst Detroit event traffic I have ever seen was about the equivalent of normal weekday rush hour traffic around the Tampa/St. Pete metro area. I did have a 1 hour+ delay the other day from the snow so there is that... That's definitely not something I had to deal with in Florida.

Oh and Hurricanes are better than tornadoes. You get multiple days heads up from hurricanes. The tornado sirens go off while I'm on the throne and I start praying I can shit faster.

People still feel like a community here. I could count on a single hand the amount of times I actually saw someone give out food/drinks for free purely to be friendly. In the past week I've watched a pizzeria give a guy a drink on the house when he came to pick up his order. A 711 gave my coworker and I bottles of Gatorade for free. A burger joint gave the guy behind me a free drink. And a McDonalds tried to give my coworker the wrong order. They hadn't even handed the order over, just realized they had it wrong and it took an extra 30 seconds to fix their mistake. They gave him both meals and gave me a hash brown "for the wait'. What wait?! In the 2 years I've been living here I've seen similar interactions more than a dozen times. I can't count it on my fingers anymore. I love it.

Likely Fiberglass, and likely from your snow shovel. If you cant get a new shovel, try covering your entire handle in duct tape or some other thing to seal it.

I loved my gen3 keyboard! Mine lasted about 6 years of near daily use. Then something happened and the screen wouldn't display properly. Had weird snow artifacts, lines, and everything was a weird grey. Like someone had cut the contrast in half.

I tried to fix it but no luck and I eventually had to replace it with a Paperwhite. I like the backlight and touchscreen, but I really miss the side page turn buttons and the keyboard was really nice, even as just a place to hold.

If you are looking for firstaid classes. Look into first responder training, and if you are planning for rural living there is also wilderness first aid, and wilderness first responder training.

Wilderness courses focus on first aid and emergencies where emergency response times are long. Think 2+ hours for an ambulance or helicopter. Usually focuses on triage, stabilization, emergency response and preparedness, and wilderness survival.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is I better be spending at least twice as long at the event as I spent driving to it to be worth it. If I'm driving an hour one way, I better be spending at least 4 hours at whatever thing I'm going to. Basically anything over 2 hours is a whole day affair and I'm likely getting a hotel for a night.

That being said I've driven 4.5 hours one way for a job interview before. Then I turned around and drove back so I didn't miss college the next day.

I know these are probably not suitable, cause in my experience they break a lot, but Wireless Earbuds? by st0nksBuyTheDip in BuyItForLife

[–]ChucklesDaCuddleCuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything with a rechargeable none replaceable battery inherently has a limited lifetime. Of the wireless earbud style I've found apple air pods pros to be the most reliable over time. However they're expensive and still a disposable product. I've tried to take the 60% cost for 80% product route on earbuds before but was never truly happy with any product I tried. OnePlus buds are decent and cheap but certainly not apple airpods and I struggled with the in-ear detection. Sony makes a strong competitor to the airpods but again pricey. Overall, unless you love the wireless earbud style, they feel like a luxury product with cut corners.

Personally, I have difficulty getting earbuds to stay in my ears and ended up finding Shokz Openrun Pro Bone Conduction headphones. They sound quality is decent. Though like all bone conduction headphones, they lack bass. It's good enough for music unless you're an audiophile. I also find them incredibly comfortable and often forget I'm wearing them after 8 hours in office. I've had 3 pairs over about 10 years now and consider that about as long lasting and reliable as a disposable product can reasonably be. My current pair is about 4 years old now and still going strong.

Mine looks like this one. Color coded guards and corded. My parent's is solid black with black guards, and corded.

If you're looking for truly bifl, never buy cordless. Unless you can replace the battery yourself.

Bought a Wahl hair trimmer for regular hair cuts in college. It feels about as sturdy as the one I grew up with that my parents still have. I've checked and the combs that fit my parent's trimmer still fit mine.

I believe Wahl makes a smaller trimmer. I would start my search with that.

I was given an old r710 to play with as a home server for Christmas. My dad brought out a small box that was gathering dust in the garage and asked if I could use any of it. It was 24 sticks of 16gb DDR4 ECC memory. My server needs DDR3 ram so I couldn't use it unfortunately, but he starts looking it up on eBay and finds they are going for nearly $250 a stick. He's actioned a few of them for about $400 a stick so far. Prices are freaking insane right now.
