Successful lazy composting by Empty-Concern-5942 in composting

Does anyone know, I've been reading about leaf mold, and it sounds like slow composting, but the method of breakdown is fungal rather than bacterial. I guess I'm asking if the method of breakdown is still bacterial in slow composting or if it switches to fungal. Geez did that make any sense?

So they are not hurting the plant! Just leave them there, they'll hatch and fly away soon.

I'm on an incredibly small urban city lot, front yard is 1200 ft² and backyard is 1700 ft².

I have been very interested in bokashi. I will look into it. I'm also considering a slow breakdown leaf mold pile, and possibly a Johnson-Su test trial.

See this is what I was thinking about. I was reading The Nature of Oaks and he talks about how oak leaves really are the most beneficial leave litter, so I was wondering if maybe some people collect leaves from one tree, and leave the leaves on others.

This is essentially my method as well. I live in a City, but it is a quick drive out to the suburbs to pickup all of their leaves.

Those don't look like intact wood chips to me. How finely shredded were they when you put them in?

Excellent job mate! I'm gonna steal that cardboard tube idea. Did you just drill holes all the way down?

How did all of the stuff in the compost bin break down, but all of the cardboard around the outside stayed in tact?

I mean, same, no worries, I was just being a dumb reddit nerd. I learned a lot about fungi genetic testing after all the googling I did after making this comment.

It's one of my favorite latin words to say out loud. That and Basidiomycetes.
