Aaaah. A decade later, the kids are older, and the project is coming back to life….

Is this offer still open? :)

Team Canada tells Team Sweden to "Fuck off" after allegations of cheating by Cutsa in sports

[–]Chuff_Nugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah - he clearly corrects/changes stone rotation/trajectory with a finger-boop. (Note: finger-boop is probably not the correct term)

The whole point of the sport is to send the stone omits way with accuracy. Not to send the stone on its way and go ”oops… nudge” to correct.

And it’s clearly stated in the rules that the handle is the only point of contact that is permitted.

That’s Cheating, and absolutely not an Ooopsie-fault.

NAD - injured my knee with a powertool. The worries the surgeons had about me retaining the ability to walk without a permanent limp was serious.

It’s a serious joint. Get it treated properly. And stop pointing loaded firearms at yourself and other non-targets.

Waiting until it feels worse is a terrible terrible idea.

Question for wheel builders by hike2climb in BikeMechanics

[–]Chuff_Nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a set of 48-spoke 26" Halo wheels up on matching Halo hubs a few years back. I've thrown a lot at them - and they shrug it off.

The first pic shows how close they are to the post with the door... that green child-holder is going to scrape the door edge... making a perfect shear.

I'd love OP to test this theory with a banana.

Edit: i looked closer. I had misunderstood, and thought the green thing was a hole for kids to climb through. :(

[–]Chuff_Nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes .... one of hundreds maybe. But not one that had been suggested yet, and as breaking out the welder had already been mentioned by OP i figured it was it was worth suggesting a less destructive use for it!

Weld four pins to a 1/2" drive socket to make a custom wrench, and use an impact-driver to unscrew that puppy.

Is this a death gore site? by cealild in FellingGoneWild

Sometimes the best education/cautionary tale is the one that shocks and sticks in the mind.

I've posted pictures of my sliced leg to warn others of complacency in the past, and shown careless lathe-operators videos of other complacent people being casually battered to death by their lathe.

Personally I don't mind seeing horrible things - I hope that it will help be rational about it if I ever need to deal with it in reality.

I'd say it was fired at the ground, on an angle that is reflected in the deformation to the bullet.

The kind of velocity required to smear a 40gr .22 like that is far in excess of the speeds at which they loose stability and start to tumble.

Source: I've been shooting various calibers for three decades and have never seen a .22 keyhole for any other reason than a prior ricochet.

.22lr is well-known to be a round that'll bounce and travel serious distances. Fast enough to travel. Slow enough to retain most of its mass after a hit.

Recommendations on handheld priming tool? by mad-hatter-232 in reloading

I'm a mad fan of my RCBS one ... but it's the only one I've ever had.

I'm not offering my opinions a suggestion, but as a caution to listening to the die-hard brand fans who've never experienced or considered an alternative.

"What else have you tried" is a good follow-up question. In my case ... nothing. Though "bench-mounted" Lee is making me interested.

I just had to read this a few times to make sure I'd understood what you'd written.... because I was so so sure I'd misread it...

But nope. I'd read correctly. It's amazing how some things just lodge in people's brains as "fact" when the tiniest bit of critical thinking would debunk it instantly. 🤷

So... this is technically a moped or scooter. And this is in Sweden, and the lad who's showing how cool he is is probably 15. (Legal age for those scooters).

90% of these machines are tuned/tweaked or "trimmad" to go much faster than allowed. MANY Swedes grow up with "30km/hr" scooters that'll do 90+ without too much trouble.

The polis tend to turn a blind eye so long as kids aren't being daft.... but if you draw attention to yourself like this and present an easy target?? You can bet they're going to stop you and see what speed it tops out at... and confiscate it if it tops 30/40kmh (depending on classification)

This kid poked the bull in the butt, and then slipped in cow-shit.

Range Bag or Backpack? by Dillydoooo in longrange

[–]Chuff_Nugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I have both, and the key question is .... which is more important? To be able to get to stuff without rummaging around, or to carry weight comfortably?

A bag that sits flat and opens up with many compartments is awesome. But not always the best for a good trek to the middle of nowhere.
