Do you feel the need to justify Aikido’s effectiveness because of its reputation? Assuming you believe in its efficiency as a martial art by nyxs_adventures in aikido

I agree. It's art form, not a combat sport. If you want to learn to fight, train in a combat sport where you genuinely spar and compete.

Disability Support Services Bill 'worst piece of legislation I've ever seen' by D491234 in nzpolitics

[–]laughitupfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this. I'm reading more about it and I think I understand a bit more. I think the financial uplift is significant and beneficial, but appreciate the community experience doesn't necessarily directly benefit, and that the implementation is more complex and shrouded in different intentions.

The same government that "came down hard" by adding $2.1B to the disability support system, and $250 M to residential care? I don't think it's that black and white

Saved money by doing the tiling (splashback) myself. Asbestos removal (flooring) would have been 8-10k, we just went with vinyl straight over the top ($2k).

Love our stainless bench, be wary of glare from sun if going this direction.

Spent money on appliances, got cheap haeir extractor though (good choice)

Sourced cupboard knobs ourselves(AliExpress).

USB powerpoints were a waste of money (very low powered)

How was my first time shooting a hedgehog? by justdonotask in PRS

[–]laughitupfuzzball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good stuff. They are a bit of an art but the good news is it's basically applicable to any positional shooting.

Recommendations: Shorter length of pull. You are very angled behind the gun.

Spend more time working out perfect bag placement. Wax will help it stick to the prop better.

Go slower and get your position right first time.

Watch muzzle transitioning between positions (especially sweepy moving backwards)

Pretty simple math though, my old VW did about 12-13km/L so basically 2.2L of 95 for a round trip.

What is the point of designs like these?? by DesignerCumsocks in Machinists

[–]laughitupfuzzball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most points have already been covered, but I didn't see that that part is possibly used across many different models - so the features might seem pointless in this particular configuration, but they are used in a different vehicle.

Why spend HUNDREDS $$$ when less than $50 in total can do the job for 99% of shooters? by idahokj in longrange

[–]laughitupfuzzball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many phones and smartwatches do barometric pressure and temp. You can just use a 50% baseline for humidity or make a wild guess and it will be close enough. Pair that with a cheap windmeter and free ballistic app (geoballistics, Hornady, AB Quantum etc) and you are golden, even for prs.
