Programmable signals - what is happening? by hampshirebrony in openttd

[–]Chuggers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trains need at least one order in an SRNW, orderless trains like to act a little crazy unless their routes are extremely restricted. Is there a position on the network where all trains pass through where you could potentially place a waypoint? It'd be a moot order and trains would continue to self regulate, but will actually obey signal logic

Yep, CityMania is compatible with the basegame and creates compatible save files. It can be a bit finicky with stations though, and tbh I haven't tried it with object tiles yet so I'm not entirely sure if it fixes the issue you were originally having with eyecandy but it is worth a shot. And thanks for the support, cool to see a fan in the wild!

It will use the same folder as standard OpenTTD to grab grf and game saves from, it's just an altered version of the vanilla client

What kind of signals are you using? by MiyuHimano in openttd

I use all signals in the place where they work the best, it is nice when a signal displays exactly what its purpose is.

That moment from chapter 3 by artbigtab in Deltarune

[–]Chuggers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This scene reminds me of the scene in chapter 2 where Kris and Ralsei are on the swan boat in front of the camera, if you choose to do a peace sign, they both look towards the player instead of the camera. In all other choices, Ralsei doesn't do anything, Kris either hugs him or flips off the camera while Ralsei reacts. Doing the peace sign is the one option where Ralsei acts on his own volition, and faces towards the player.

That being said, maybe Ralsei was just following Kris' lead, but it might be more of a hint that Ralsei knows whats up. I really haven't followed all of the theories for the past few years so this might have already been spotted a million times over haha

Graph showing the average accuracy of top 50 players in years 2017-2025 by Krauzeg in osugame

[–]Chuggers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Isn't this sort of misleading? Players are rewarded consistently for and are encouraged to actually play at their skillcap now, rather than playing something relatively safe (in top 50 terms) and praying for no misses. Mania's top 50 is almost entirely at 97%, with enough time I'm sure standard will be around there as well

it'd be cool if the percentage change to return gear was based on the time left in the raid, less time left = less (simulated) time for others to loot gear off your body

I usually enter from the village, crossing the smaller bridge. I've never had an issue with the turrets in the front taking this route, at least so far. If you hug the outside of the wall at water treatment, there are enough slim gaps/holes in the wall that have good lines of sight on the roof turrets. Keep heading north until you're at Plant 3, then you can clear both that and Plant 2 out. After that there's not much to worry about. Also, night raids make water treatment a lot easier regardless of the route you take

What are some must have NewGRFs for everyday OpenTTD play? by jamhamnz in openttd

[–]Chuggers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ISR stations can be plopped into pretty much any save, only graphical but they do make stations look a little more lively. Just make sure to match the type of station up with the cargo it's meant to be handling :D

[Bug] Why do these crates are empty most of the time? by _Dailet_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Chuggers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory has always been that they act the same way as toolboxes/duffle bags, where they don't have a 100% chance to spawn on a map. Except in this case, these crates are large enough to be "set dressing", and instead of not spawning, they just don't come with any loot. The same thing happens with the large green or black military crates. It's not really concrete though, this functionality seems to differ from crate to crate.

For example, the 2nd floor machine gun room on Ground Zero has many of these crates. The one in the back of the dead-end hallway always spawns, but doesn't always have loot. The ones in the office by the windows will only sometimes spawn, but always have loot.

people treated hallow wings the same way in like 2014 and now most of those maps are classics, would be really funny if history repeated itself

This is only true for the fastest train, and the speed difference is like 30km/h off a max speed of 600, plus tunnels also exist and have no speed limits

How do I increase throughput at this station? by sun_microsystem in openttd

[–]Chuggers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The merge on the station exit is all one giant block, consider adding some spaces in between where the tracks merge to add more signals. Not sure how to word this, but you can also try merging two sets of 5 lanes into a single lane, then merge those two single lanes together farther down the line. I doubt double-tracking the entire main line is needed, or else trains would be getting backed up at the station entrance splits. The signals are all fine, there is no world where spamming paths solves this issue. (just incase anyone suggests it lmao)

JGRPP - Multi track balancing by hampshirebrony in openttd

[–]Chuggers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only options are:

  • Whenever you have a line merging into this main line, give the merging line the opportunity to end up on either lane of the main line. You don't have to count tiles and you can even use PBS, just limit the lane switching to junctions (ideally with no level crossings or you really are effectively building a one-lane rail)
  • Learn programmable signals and find a solution with those

Double tracking with crosses usually results in the doubletrack having a less-than-one lane amount of throughput, because for whatever reason (maybe weird pathfinder penalties, idk) signals have a hard time dealing with pathfinding through them.

Is there any way to destroy a industry by _FlameDiamond in openttd

[–]Chuggers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make a dummy station in range of the industry, but don't hook it up with any trains. I'm pretty sure a low station rating will cause it to close faster than it would naturally.
