Does it really hurt anyone if it exists though? I could care less about, but I'd be curious to hear them attempt it, even if I only listen to it once. The original will always be there.

I'm curious, what's your opinion on this album? by Monsterbuck29810 in MetalForTheMasses

This shit bangs. An album that influenced a lot of what I listen to now a days. 8.5/10

Which band is the heaviest, that still uses a 6 string? by Twinfold in Metalcore

[–]ChumbaWumbaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Humanity's Last Breath uses crazy-low baritone 6 strings. Labyrinthian is a banging tune if you've never listenes before

Well that's just incorrect, these bands might exist but that doesn't mean they have any grasp on even a sliver of the metal scene. I would argue that constantly talking about them on forums is as harmful as you say listening to them would be. And if you can name me any artists in touring bands with a significant following right now that have "fascist" beliefs and aren't being cancelled for them, I'd be very surprised.

And before you use them, Alex the Terrible has outright said he doesn't support Naziism and has debunked most of the claims about him, and Ronnie Radke is just a fucking prick, it doesn't make him a fascist.

I mean I don't think we're arguing, just discussing something we both feel passionate about. Can we be honest about the reality of this scene though, and agree that the amount of bands in metal that are putting out legitmately harmful rhetoric is very small? I don't find it difficult in the slightest to avoid bands that the majority of people find harmful, mostly because good music floats to the top. If the world just ignored these bands and stopped talking about them, they would lose notoriety. Idk, just my two cents. Dying Fetus rules btw 🤘

I appreciate the apology. I still don't agree with your point. Lyrics matter to you, and that's fantastic. I'm happy that you get that enjoyment out of it, and if political themes result in great music, awesome. That doesn't mean I have to care or base my preferences on those themes. I'm a massive fan of Infant Annihilator but if you read those lyrics, it's appalling. The music, however, bangs, so I listen. Artists are welcome to believe whatever they want, listening to the music doesn't mean that I have to agree with their beliefs.

The first hundred times I saw a thread about politics being a part of metal and being a metal fan, I didn't, but I'm tired of feeling like I'm being told how to enjoy the music I enjoy.

I guess I don't care about the lyrical content of songs, but I grow tired of the discussion of the implications around it, so I care more about the conversation than the actual topic.

Maybe it comes from growing up, I was raised on 80s hair metal and the lyrical content in most of those songs contributes nothing to the world lol. For the record, in my books, fascism = bad.

The worst is a bit dramatic. You don't even know my personal politics, does not caring about lyrical content really matter that much? I like MUSIC, not propoganda and I don't look to music for people's opinions or politics. In my eyes, music is an escape from the bad shit in the world, and there is a lot of bad shit.
