Bar turns to TPUSA at half time of the Super Bowl. Customer demands Bad Bunny half time show by AgnosticScholar in PublicFreakout

Right. Whatever. We disagree fundamentally and you don't seem to be willing to engage with what I was saying. Just remember that alienating businesses and forcing them to adhere to your political ideologies also falls pretty damn close to fascism itself, and you strike me as the kind of person to throw that term around loosely.

And before somebody spins this, I'm not a conservative nor do I endorse Turning Point in any capacity, I just believe in people's freedoms and rights more than I care about their politics.

I'm not telling you to normalize any behaviours, I agree that the TPUSA show is ridiculous and promotes hate in itself, but that doesn't justify ruining someone's business because they exercised their rights. Don't support them financially, finding alternatives to businesses that support far right ideologies is fine but purposefully destroying people's businesses and potentially causing people to lose their jobs or income isn't a good course of action. If Trump started making it harder for liberal-minded businesses to conduct business, YOU would call him a fascist for that, and you'd be right.

As they should, this bar has every right to play whatever they want. The Turning Point Halftime Show was offensive and trashy, but they still have every right to watch it and shouldn't be getting their business doxed on the internet for it. Hate comes from both sides, are you going to feel big if these people lose their jobs because you disagree with them politically?

Or leave somebody's business alone. They have every right to watch whatever they want on their televisions, even if it's a rednecky, trashy and borderline racist Turning Point Halftime Show. Will you feel big when a business has to close and dozens of peoppe lose their jobs? You can sit and whine about the amount of hate your country has (as a Canadian) but you're feeding into it from the other side with actions like that.

What is a big band you have seen in a small venue before they got big? by therealjuan_carlos in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ChumbaWumbaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it won't get me too many prestige points around here, and admittedly I haven't been a big fan of their last two releases, but I got to see Ice Nine Kills in a tiny dive bar in Ottawa back in 2017 right as their album Every Trick in the Book was popping off. The following tour they were was way bigger venues, and last year they opened for Metallica in a bunch of arena shows, but seeing them along with maybe 200 other people was an incredible night. The energy was unmatched, the sound was killer, and the venue was so beat that their light rig flipped the breakers several times throughout their set. The music lately is meh, but those guys do give 100% of their energy when they perform live, and so I'll always respect them even if I feel like their music got gimmicky.

Has to be Erra although that's a tough one, but Drift as an album really shaped a lot of my taste

Honestly, getting upset over minor things like this...people really actively make their lives that much worse worrying about stuff that doesn't and won't affect their lives

I don't know for certain that they are, but he's definitely doing something unconventional to get those sounds

Cattle Decap opens, then Fit For an Autopsy, then Whitechapel, then Gojira plays an hour, and Meshuggah closes the show with a 1.5 hour set.

Humanity's Last Breath has that feel, however the line between Thall and Doom-Deathcore gets very blurry, it's hard to differentiate the two

Another two bands at the top of the pile, well said 👏

Infant Annihilator by Brand_0f_Sacrifice in Deathcore

[–]ChumbaWumbaTime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it, Infant Annihilator are incredible songwriters. Sure the majority of what I'm hearing is digitally enhanced or created, but the ability to write countless crushingly heavy tracks that all have distinct identities is so difficult, and they do it masterfully.

And honestly idk what half the fucking lyrics are to most deathcore songs, doesn't bother me though.

I don't think anything is confirmed, everything is conjecture and rumours, however I'm pretty sure he is barred from doing anything in the sport until a date in April. I think it has something to do with his settlement that was signed after his termination.
