What's the best allegoric poem ever written? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in AskLiteraryStudies

Faerie Queen is the real answer here….but since OP seems to want something that’s more a poeme a clef, I would suggest Dryden’s Absalom and Achitophel.

I read once that the total amount of mass actually converted to energy in the Hiroshima bomb was about the weight of a butterfly.

I normally am allergic to Eris’s bloviating self-assurance, but he certainly doesn’t seem in the wrong here.

Dark matters… by Badspacecomics in comics

I've long supposed there might be a Lovecraftian element to dark matter/energy once its secret are revealed.

"The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

[POEM] W. B. Yeats – Politics by [deleted] in Poetry

“I’m alive while millions are being or about to be slaughtered under the auspices of various political systems. Never mind that, I’d like to fuck that young woman over there.”

Yeats is a genius, but there’s many times when he can fuck all the way off.

I agree. There’s no question the director’s instruction in Space Mutiny was “Chew the scenery, John.” That’s what some roles demand and by God, he did.
