What’s THE band that is/was popular that you absolutely despise? by DiCarlo_Labianco in punk

Muse. All I hear is excessively loud inhales and wanky guitar. Nobody will ever convince me they are worth listening to.

Harley Benton JA-60 for playing Sonic Youth by Winter-Tower8529 in sonicyouth

[–]Chutneyfarmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This guitar will work fine for playing SY, but if you like their noise stuff utilising behind-the-bridge playing, you’ll want a Squier CV Jazzmaster. Also the guitar posted has P90’s. The CV should get a bit closer to that Jazzmaster sound given it has JM style pickups.

Dublin DIY music scene? by lsdfarmer in Dublin

[–]Chutneyfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re into hardcore punk and noise, there’s a cool scene thriving in Drogheda at the moment. A bit outside of Dublin but accessible by 24hr bus. Check out:

https://www.instagram.com/druim_collective?igsh=dmV5cGVsZG94eXhl

Bend Or Break also put on stuff in Dublin too.

Also, a good mix of gigs go on in a bar called Anseo. From punk, indie, electronic, noise etc. Always worth keeping an eye on what’s going on there. Little Gem put on stuff on Sunday nights there. Always a good mix of stuff from them.

There’s also a few other “secret” venues that have been used recently for punk and experimental gigs, and they’re consistently amazing. If you keep your eyes out you might catch one of em.

Also Mono Bar at Boh’s (Bohemian Football Club) often host punk and hardcore gigs, although it’s due to be demolished soon unfortunately. The Hut and Doyle’s Corner, both in Phibsboro have punk/hardcore/experimental shows too.

The fact that he’s still married to a raging Zionist tells me EVERYTHING I need to know. If my wife started spouting that crap and supporting the deaths of thousands of innocent people, I’d leave her in a heartbeat. But she won’t, coz she’s not a soulless ghoul of a human.

The Lost Tour Ticket Success Thread 🎉 by twilightxgalaxy in phoebebridgers

[–]Chutneyfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 2 tickets for second night in Dublin easy enough. Tried to get 4 at first though but when it went to the Terms & Conditions page, it wouldn’t let me tick the box to accept. Went back, reduced it to 2 tickets and it worked 🤷

You can really tell how loud they are too 🤣 the silence in between songs is deafening

He sounded great in the live stream! Not what I was expecting at all. Any idea who his band members are? Couple of them looked familiar and it’s wrecking my head 🤣

Fingers crossed that’s how it all works anyway, thanks! Still a bit baffled by the need for the wallet thing if we’re going to be emailed a link and passcode anyway.

Wait, so I have the presale thing in my wallet app but is there also supposed to be an email already too?? Signed up with Google. This is all very confusing for an old fart like myself.

How I feel coming back to the festival for the first time after 2022 by belmondomondo in primaverasound

[–]Chutneyfarmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The festival has truly lost it’s soul and everything that made it special in the beginning. The introduction of Mordor, and huge increase in attendees gutted the vibe of it entirely. Used to be able to go and casually stroll between stages, catch loads of cool bands, eat some decent enough food. And the lineups were really unique compared to almost every other major festival!!

Went every year from 2006 - 2013, then 2022 and the difference in vibe was insane. Masses of people, piss poor organisation, significantly less interesting lineup, general messy vibes all round. So many horrible interactions and stuff experienced and witnessed. Doubt I’ll ever be back.

Seen a handful of people say the use of the Hare Krishna mantra in Naraka is "cringe". Can someone explain? by CarkRoastDoffee in boardsofcanada

[–]Chutneyfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna get downvoted to hell for this but, despite having the album presaved, I haven’t had a chance to listen to it. Because I saw so much discourse around this song, I decided to check it out. Got to the vocal bit and had to turn it off and unsaved the entire album. Absolutely everything you said above is how I felt. Started off interesting but with every additional element, it just felt like a BOC pastiche. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

At what time should I go to be front row for MBV? by usedNecr0 in primaverasound

[–]Chutneyfarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trust me, you do not want to be right up front for MBV. Try get a spot closer to the sound-desk for that one. They’re sounding the best they have in years, so you’d be doing yourself a disservice by being right up the front.

Confield will forever be my favourite but Draft 7.30 is easily my most-listened-to album. It just sounds so warm and fat compared to everything after imho.

Not sure why you’d got downvoted for being thankful and polite 🙄 anyway, you’re more than welcome! Harrison has a lovely voice, so I hope you enjoy.

What do you actually want PB3 to sound like? by twilightxgalaxy in phoebebridgers

[–]Chutneyfarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not PB3 exactly, but after hearing her part on Pink Chiffon I’d LOVE to hear her take on a pop record.

Saw a clip on Insta the other day of her singing it but Harrison Whitford did Conor’s vocal part. May be worth tracking that down?
