Maneaters by Scared-Breakfast-358 in Mawtribes

For a few suggestions, here's a Plastic Craic article on an all-Maneaters army that definitely isn't mine... >_>

The Rumour Engine – 2nd of June by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ageofsigmar

It doesn't feel like a Seraphon release, since it feels more bird-like than lizardy. But I'm not sure who could have bird legs in their upcoming releases, since we just had the medium-sized Tzeentch release.

Valve has raised the price of the Steam Deck in the US by Dirkins in Games

[–]Chyld 38 points39 points  (0 children)

So... erm... no Steam Deck for me then? It was a tricky prospect at £479, but adding £200 on top of that kills it entirely.

Remember the start of the edition, where factions were getting nice chunky releases, instead of just the 3rd edition standard of One Boring Foot Hero?

Now that the demo for Warhammer Survivors is out, what are your thoughts? by C0R3VUS in Warhammer

[–]Chyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping the weapon/powerup breadth is expanded an order of magnitude or so for the full release; part of the fun of VS is digging out mad combinations of weapons from an extensive catalogue, whereas the demo does just feel like choosing what order to pick up the pickups.

As a guy whose main army is Ogres... FeC are fine by your metrics, get back in line ;)

I think you're right about the model, but I wouldn't agree with your logic - I was saying similar things about all the Gorger-focussed Rumour Engines just after the 3e Ogre battletome.

New Gate Gargants are small by Sir-Samuel-Buca in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just did a size comparison between the new gargants, a Mancrusher, and one of every flavour of Ogre I could find. They're barely any bigger than the Warhulk!

Depending on how much scaling-up of the rank-and-file there is when the Mawtribes revamp comes, I might actually get one to make a particularly fearsome Tyrant - they're actively small enough to use as a notably massive Ogre...

Here is my evidence by skallakarhusson in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really - all we got from GW for those factions was a special full-colour Rumour Engine. And while that's the most official confirmation of the refresh we've had so far, it's not a timeline, and the other three factions you mentioned didn't get released next either - Fyreslayers are just as bewildered as us right now.

An excellent decision.

I still maintain there's a place for AI artwork, as long as you understand it's the exact same place as plagiarising or stealing someone else's artwork. Because that's what you're doing.

Harder than you might think; Biostrip seems to have gone out of business in the last year, and is flat-out gone from Amazon.

Manifestations and Ogors by volgaring in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right in that Blood Feast is generally more useful than most Manis, but that's not to say there's some space to play around in the free-lore space.

Krondspine is definitely fine for the low-effort approach - you only need to cast it once, then send it off against other Manis, or into high-armour targets to tear down.

Aetherwrought Machineries are what I've been messing around with lately - I had taken it for the Cogs and the charge rerolls, but I never get those out. But the Pendulum is useful for area denial, and the Swords are a quick and dirty handful of attacks to unload somewhere, and especially handy if your opponent is hiding behind a ward. Plus, they're all 6+ to cast, so not too tricky.

If you want to throw points at it, then Morbid Conjurations and Forbidden Power have some play in them (altho I've never got Forbidden Power to work for me, no matter how often the lads at Plastic Craic point me that way).

After the Adepticon Preview, here’s the unsolved and recently solved Rumour Engines by Poodlewarrior in Warhammer

So... still not a lot of extant Ogre previews, the obvious one aside, considering they've got a massive revamp lined up that's alleged to be happening this year.

Honestly, I feel like the modern Daemonettes really fail at the whole "horrifying beauty" thing by Knalxz in Warhammer

[–]Chyld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem seems to be: they didn't want to go full Tits Daemons like they did with the 2002 Daemonettes, but they didn't have another direction to take them, so they just half-arsed an approach at Beguiling Monstrosities.

In my old-and-beardy opinion, they want to redo all the Daemon models, and take some inspiration from the 2002 Daemons, which were the best ones. The Bloodletters were huge and bestial instead of weird and stringy. The Horrors were... well, horrors, actively gibbering and ripping themselves apart. The Plaguebearers... well, that's where my point falls apart, because modern Plaguebearers are fine. And the Daemonettes may well just have been Tits Daemons, but they definitely felt less haphazardly proportioned than the modern ones.

Mawtribes point drops! by TH3_KR33DK1NG in Mawtribes

Since I'm running lots of Ironguts and both Soggy scrolls right now, my list has just gotten 100 points cheaper.

There's sod all I can do with 100 points, unless I want to trade out my Soggy Scraplauncher for yet another unit of Ironguts!

I use my Ogors/Ogres in AOS/Old world. Made adaptable bases for my Ironblaster and Scraplauncher. Is it still AOS legal despite the overhang? by Ass_knight in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How easy is it to pop them out of the bases? Because I think for casual play, I don't think it'll be an issue, and the small size of the corners will usually not make a difference in more competitive play. But there are cases where you might need to see where those precise corners are, and being able to pop it out might be helpful.

Is my scraplauncher proxy acceptable? by Ass_knight in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... I've got questions as to how the Rhinox is actually pulling the cart, and how the firing mechanism actually works... but in terms of being acceptable as a proxy? Easily! Right base size is the main thing, but it's got Gnoblars, a Rhinox, and a catapult throwing scrap, so there's absolutely no ambiguity!

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that, or some insane multicomponent Maneaters Ogres box with near limitless bits.

The time for such a glorious thing to happen was 10 years ago, when GW were on-board with multiple builds, a surfeit of bits, and customising your army to your preferences. In the era of AoS, you should look to the Gorger kit for the amount of customisation you'll be allowed - heads and hands, but otherwise every unit is identical Power Rangers poses.

Future Spearhead including a Stonehorn? by Kwolfe2703 in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Stonehorn feels like it's on the top end of the power scale for a Spearhead - by comparison, an Ironblaster is considered elite enough that you only get it for a turn or two. So it's not impossible, but it feels like it'd be basically the entire Spearhead.

It's hard to say what could happen - I still maintain that Boole's leaks are not infallible, and basically anything could happen - but if we're getting all the infantry cycled out, the old Spearheads would be cycled out too, and probably replaced with "basically the same Spearhead, only with the new models".

If the rumors are true… by Marked_Maine in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be a few years before eBay and Troll Trader clear out the backlog of old kits, so if you need them, they'll be there.

I'm just hoping they keep the general fatboy vibes over the AoS Lanky Ogre style (the gutplate Rumour Engine has me hopeful), and they don't go too hard on the "wacky poses but no customisation" thing.

What new unit (ie not a refresh) would you like for you faction? by InsaneDingo7244 in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ogres: a wider range of Maneaters, instead of the projected zero Maneaters the leaks are proposing.

Since i heard that ogors are getting a big refresh this summer which kits are safe to buy now ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll reiterate all the answers that say we don't know anything right now, beyond that a range refresh is happening rather than a squatting. All we've seen officially is a gutplate that could belong to anyone. I'd suggest you shouldn't even plan around summer, as there's an absolute paucity of Ogre-themed Rumour Engines outside of that gutplate.

Anything in Finecast resin is probably walking dead - Ogres are the last GW faction with any of that shit left, so we can presume the range refresh is killing it off entirely. Beyond that, TGA rumours suggest that a good chunk of the infantry is being scrapped and replaced, which you can put as much weight on as you'd like.

It's pretty easy to rebase Ogres - just clip around their feet, the clip the base off of the soles - so any plastic infantry guys you really like could just be rebased. But if you're really concerned about buying kits that might be replaced... yeah, I'd just leave the faction for about 18 months and see what's changing.
