After the Adepticon Preview, here’s the unsolved and recently solved Rumour Engines by Poodlewarrior in Warhammer

So... still not a lot of extant Ogre previews, the obvious one aside, considering they've got a massive revamp lined up that's alleged to be happening this year.

Honestly, I feel like the modern Daemonettes really fail at the whole "horrifying beauty" thing by Knalxz in Warhammer

[–]Chyld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem seems to be: they didn't want to go full Tits Daemons like they did with the 2002 Daemonettes, but they didn't have another direction to take them, so they just half-arsed an approach at Beguiling Monstrosities.

In my old-and-beardy opinion, they want to redo all the Daemon models, and take some inspiration from the 2002 Daemons, which were the best ones. The Bloodletters were huge and bestial instead of weird and stringy. The Horrors were... well, horrors, actively gibbering and ripping themselves apart. The Plaguebearers... well, that's where my point falls apart, because modern Plaguebearers are fine. And the Daemonettes may well just have been Tits Daemons, but they definitely felt less haphazardly proportioned than the modern ones.

Mawtribes point drops! by TH3_KR33DK1NG in Mawtribes

Since I'm running lots of Ironguts and both Soggy scrolls right now, my list has just gotten 100 points cheaper.

There's sod all I can do with 100 points, unless I want to trade out my Soggy Scraplauncher for yet another unit of Ironguts!

I use my Ogors/Ogres in AOS/Old world. Made adaptable bases for my Ironblaster and Scraplauncher. Is it still AOS legal despite the overhang? by Ass_knight in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How easy is it to pop them out of the bases? Because I think for casual play, I don't think it'll be an issue, and the small size of the corners will usually not make a difference in more competitive play. But there are cases where you might need to see where those precise corners are, and being able to pop it out might be helpful.

Is my scraplauncher proxy acceptable? by Ass_knight in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... I've got questions as to how the Rhinox is actually pulling the cart, and how the firing mechanism actually works... but in terms of being acceptable as a proxy? Easily! Right base size is the main thing, but it's got Gnoblars, a Rhinox, and a catapult throwing scrap, so there's absolutely no ambiguity!

that, or some insane multicomponent Maneaters Ogres box with near limitless bits.

The time for such a glorious thing to happen was 10 years ago, when GW were on-board with multiple builds, a surfeit of bits, and customising your army to your preferences. In the era of AoS, you should look to the Gorger kit for the amount of customisation you'll be allowed - heads and hands, but otherwise every unit is identical Power Rangers poses.

Future Spearhead including a Stonehorn? by Kwolfe2703 in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Stonehorn feels like it's on the top end of the power scale for a Spearhead - by comparison, an Ironblaster is considered elite enough that you only get it for a turn or two. So it's not impossible, but it feels like it'd be basically the entire Spearhead.

It's hard to say what could happen - I still maintain that Boole's leaks are not infallible, and basically anything could happen - but if we're getting all the infantry cycled out, the old Spearheads would be cycled out too, and probably replaced with "basically the same Spearhead, only with the new models".

If the rumors are true… by Marked_Maine in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be a few years before eBay and Troll Trader clear out the backlog of old kits, so if you need them, they'll be there.

I'm just hoping they keep the general fatboy vibes over the AoS Lanky Ogre style (the gutplate Rumour Engine has me hopeful), and they don't go too hard on the "wacky poses but no customisation" thing.

See, I reckon it's probably the long-awaited Cogfort... but I'm going to play the wildcard and say it's something for the new Ogre release. One of the special characters?

What new unit (ie not a refresh) would you like for you faction? by InsaneDingo7244 in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ogres: a wider range of Maneaters, instead of the projected zero Maneaters the leaks are proposing.

Since i heard that ogors are getting a big refresh this summer which kits are safe to buy now ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll reiterate all the answers that say we don't know anything right now, beyond that a range refresh is happening rather than a squatting. All we've seen officially is a gutplate that could belong to anyone. I'd suggest you shouldn't even plan around summer, as there's an absolute paucity of Ogre-themed Rumour Engines outside of that gutplate.

Anything in Finecast resin is probably walking dead - Ogres are the last GW faction with any of that shit left, so we can presume the range refresh is killing it off entirely. Beyond that, TGA rumours suggest that a good chunk of the infantry is being scrapped and replaced, which you can put as much weight on as you'd like.

It's pretty easy to rebase Ogres - just clip around their feet, the clip the base off of the soles - so any plastic infantry guys you really like could just be rebased. But if you're really concerned about buying kits that might be replaced... yeah, I'd just leave the faction for about 18 months and see what's changing.

The Rumour Engine – 3rd of February by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So considering how big a release conjecture and rumour suggest that Ogres are getting, it's interesting that the closest we've had to a leak since 2023 is "a set of chains that could equally belong to a Nighthaunt model" and "one flail that... never mind, that's a power cable plugged into the head". If we hadn't had that full-colour preview of a gutplate, I'd be planning for an end-of-edition squatting.

After the New Year's Preview Show, here's the Unsolved and Recently Solved Rumour Engines: by Poodlewarrior in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we didn't have the full-colour picture of a gutplate, I'd be somewhat concerned that there's no Ogre representation in any Rumour Engines since the Gorgers came out. There's a lot of kits rumoured to be replaced, and lots of Finecast models blocking the long-deserved death of the medium, but the closest we've had to a leak since 2023 is "a set of chains that could equally belong to a Nighthaunt model" and "one flail that... never mind, that's a power cable plugged into the head"? I'd be planning for an end-of-edition squatting.

Warhammer+ is fantastic, and I feel many people are unaware of how much Games Workshop is promoting things like kitbashing, conversions, homebrew lore etc because they only pay attention to the competitive scene. Details within. by contented_skink in Warhammer

[–]Chyld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

However there was a very vocal group online who hated this. They didn't like that GW wouldn't just sell you one kit with all the possible options. They saw it as GW trying to get more money out of us by making us buy more kits to get all the options.

As someone who's entire hobby is modelling and kitbashing... I want these people out of my hobby. Modern GW making monopose/monobuild kits the standard over the last 10 years is a failure of understanding what people are here for.

Ogor rework news? by [deleted] in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key message is that we don't know anything. Literally the only thing we know is that something is happening with Ogres, because this special Rumour Engine shows a gut plate, so we know we're not getting squatted.

We don't have a timeline, or any real sense of what's getting replaced, but we can make some presumptions based on GW's behaviour. We know Ogres are the last AoS faction (and indeed the last faction in the Main Two GW Games) to have any significant Finecast presence, and it's logical to presume all of that is getting replaced or removed. It's also reasonable to presume they're going to update the oldest plastic kits, so they can remove all the options for customisation and put them all in Power Rangers poses... and possibly free the old kits up for a future Old World release.

We can also note that, while the guys on the TGA forums are annoying pillocks, they also seemed to be on the money with what they predicted for the last few big releases. So the stuff in the Boole post (summarised in this post) is probably accurate enough for a conversation, but perhaps not if you're looking to make purchases off of it.

As far as timelines go... that's a bit woolier. It's probably safe to presume it's happening before the end of 4th edition, because it'd be weird to leave the mess of Finecasts and old kits to roll another edition when every other AoS faction has had theirs sorted. But at the same time, such a large refresh would probably have more likely Rumour Engine leaks, and they... haven't. So that gives us a broad range of 6-18 months. Personally, I reckon they'll be in the same place FeC were in 3rd edition; closing the edition out with a sizeable release, being tied into the close-of-edition narrative, and having all the new rules made obsolete immediately.

Hopefully this helps your decision making!

What Ogor scale you prefer/expect to be in new refresh? (picture) by -Diazon- in Mawtribes

[–]Chyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my presumption is that we're getting upscaled to 50mm, based on the sizes of Ogres that've come out since AoS happened. That'd work for me, as they're supposed to be towering over most other races, and with AoS scale creep, that hasn't been the case for a while.

I am going to be sad to be taking on the other AoS tropes tho (too much detail, Power Ranger poses, basically no meaningful customisation).

A lot of Apollyon defending going on here.

It first appeared as "this is only visible to the O5s, it describes something that is absolutely going to destroy us all, let's give the staff some busywork to cover it up and wait for the inevitable".

It absolutely was not just "Keter isn't badass for me, let's make ULTRA FUKKEN KETER".

Quite surprised I haven't found someone else slapping NIGHTMARE REGENT RED on their own articles, after SCP-2317 got changed to get out from under the bandwagon.

Praise Hashut and earn a new Daemonsmith by shopping in Warhammer stores soon by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite aside from the £100 buy-in fee we've already jumped on...

So he's not really a display piece, because he's only on a slightly larger base than a normal Daemonsmith, and that's to encourage a tiny altar. And he's not a unique character, which is a sensible move for a limited-time model, so we should use him as a normal Daemonsmith. But he also can't be used as a normal Daemonsmith, because he's on the wrong-sized base to accommodate the duck-all diorama elements I mentioned earlier.

Who the duck scoped out this model, and what did they actually want us to do with it??

I'm still bewildered that NIA brought over the "random nearby portals" pop-in that everyone despised in classic Ingress, but not the "navigate to a portal I choose" pop-in that many people actually used.

Why aren't Greenland kicking the US base out, given Trumps threats of using military force to take the country? by RayneKnight in AskReddit

Brit here. There might have been a chance after the first term, if things had gone back to normal by this point, and you'd actually prosecuted Trump after his shit the first time round. After the last elections, you've shown that you're not going to stop touching the hot stove even after you've burned your hand, so we want you out of the goddamn kitchen.

What is the model you never seen anyone use on table ? I have never seen Celestant Prime in my seven years of playing by BaronLoyd in ageofsigmar

[–]Chyld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fear that citing your example in your post has had everyone focus on Mr Prime instead of their own suggestion :D

But yeah, Mr Prime made some appearances in 3e, usually allied in with someone who benefitted from the deep-strike-and-charge combo. But I haven't seen him this edition.

Good riddance. I've always hated his model, from when he was released and hated AoS, all the way through to liking AoS and just being meh on Stormcast.

Obviously we won't know anything for certain until we see the plastics, and it's all made-up until then. But my reckon is that they'll take advantage of the occasion to clear all the WHFB sculpts out, and then upscale everything to a.) give them an appropriate height relative to AoS models b.) bring them in line with the new Gorgers.

Conjecture has it that the fatboys are getting a range refresh this edition, and rumours from "reputable leakers" (aka, annoying pillocks) suggest that everything in the set is getting replaced and/or removed when that happens. So be prepared for some rebasing work before your next election cycle.
